hmmm okay I think i've decided on my OB build..
Anyone have their mind set on the OB build they will be starting with ??
Im either doing a high Str/hp based spoon and fork templar or maybe a energyshield/ghost reaver trap based shadow.
Edit: I ALSO HOPE EVERYONE PLANS ON STARTING OFF IN HARDCORE! It's the real way to play PoE especially because you can still continue on playing if you die which must of us probably will. I know I will but thats the fun in PoE the challenge to stay alive!
Besides who could resist being a boss and saying they have a level 80 on hardcore ? >
Edit2: Oh shit ! is a blood magic shadow viable ?? hmmmm

Lightning strike was not supposed to hit the main target with its projectiles, and that has been fixed, but is not in the patch notes somehow. Basically it's only a really good AoE skill now, but not a good single target skill.
Elemental Hit is still really OP. It is the strongest single target DPS bow/wand skill even for physical builds, except maybe for dedicated frenzy or puncture builds. And it requires no gear. Unless WED support has either been removed or at least halved.
Lightning Arrow is still really good, and is the least affected by the chain nerf. I'm definitely using it as main AoE. Ice Shot is also viable, but it only shines in really big packs. Too bad the skill tree doesn't allow a good bow build to pick up the +30% cold damage passive.
Summoners sound even better as a first character now, as they'll progress faster. But they will have a really hard time in high level maps, with a lot of mobs having AoE abilities and fast movespeed. It will take some clever adaptation to be really succesful, but is still likely the easiest build.
Mostly great changes. CI is still really good, now that chaos resistance is required for other builds. Definitely an amazing softcore skill. Can't wait to see the actual tree and plan some builds!

I'm heavily considering going summoner as my first char in open beta since like everyone else, everything's wiped. My closed beta chars are wiped and will have nothing. This means at least I have a char that I can use to eventually get to maps and slowly start farming, and by then, the community will gauge what build is great for map clearing and whatnot so I can make another char to do it with.
I wanted to do double spork totems, but since that got nerfed pretty hard, it's probably still somewhat viable, but by no means the mob killing machine spec it used to be.
I do want eventually to try out a multi aura wand templar though.
Also, there was a 1 week HC ladder race, and a person made level 80 with a pure summoner build with it, although there will be a minion nerf, I think it won't be too severe at least until level 65+ or when grinding higher level maps.

I haven't played HC, but I figure whatever items stored in stash are separate from default league. So yea, lose your items when moving from HC to Default via death.

No. The stash is shared among all characters belonging in that particular league and is not affected by the death of a character in said league.
In other words, each league has its own shared stash. The items you have in your softcore stash can't be accessed by hardcore characters, and vice versa.

items in your shared stash stay in HC

yes that is correct. You have a seperate stash for HC League and Default League so you dont really "lose" your items. Only the ones in your inventory and equiped will go to Default League

Armor applies to both. Armor&Evasion doesn't apply twice to Evasion with Iron Reflexes (but it used to).

Awesome that is what I thought

Yeah, it's starting to look like I'm going Lightning Arrow instead of split arrow and elemental hit instead of Ice shot. Glad to see my build isn't really harmed much!

Yay! even more resistances we have to deal with now..

Hey! A friend of mine told me about this game yesterday, and I said we're going to give it a try. I understand that you cannot reset the passive skill line Could you reccoment me a decent one for the Shadow ? I really don't know anything about it, and how much of his damage actually come from spells, and how much from dexterity.
Also, can you level up in the same 'world' as your friend ? Do same quests etc ? Silly question, this one :p
Thank you !
