The idea was much nicer than the execution imo, but mainly because it's a bit braindead. I enjoyed the little NPC tidbits and it's not that bad for me to have some gameplay where I'm not incentivized to slaughter everything for once. That being said I have only done a few small ones on the side and not grinded the guys up a lot, which is probably required to get good results out of it.

For me the problem is do we really need a complicated mechanism to get alternative quality gems, replica and rare items for crafting. Hope they remove the rares and maybe even replicas. Also adjust markers but sure they will. I think it's fine as long as they are tradable. Again, give the players the option. Some people like Heist, so they will run it. Others don't and that's fine as well. If you need an item from an area of the game you don't enjoy/want to play, get currency and buy it. I honestly don't see the problem. Maybe for SSF, but then again, SSF is a choice and by default you are forcing yourself to farm all the items you need for your build. I don't know why they are going to run the Heist Flashback though. I will just continue to play the normal Heist league...

As a main leveling / endless experience though, I think it's incredibly lacking in diversity. Yes there are technically more "choices" than in campaign, but in campaign you have a variety of locations, mob types, and bosses. I find that way more engaging, even though I've done it for 7 years.+ Show Spoiler + I'm not sure you can say it's more fun after just one time. Many have played the campaign a few dozen times if not hundreds of times. This can get stale and if you get an entirely different level experience, it will most likely feel better because it's fresh. I personally found this very refreshing. I wouldn't advocate to replace the story with this but I would like them to do this farily regularly. I also wouldn't mind to have this as an alternative leveling option in the main game. I'm all for alternatives and leave the choice to the players what they want to do. If you want to do the story, do it, if you want to level in delve and skip the story, why not? In the end game we already have a lot of variety. Why not for the leveling progress as well. I will draw a parallel to Diablo 2 and 3. Diablo 2 you could play the acts or you could skip it all or skip some and do different runs for experience. In Diablo 3 they decided to chain the players to the (awful) story and even forced them to hit certain level caps to continue. Neither of them is perfect, but Diablo 2 is a hell of a lot better in this regard because players get the option to chose what they consider more fun (or less of a chore to get to where they have fun in the game). Not quite related but I leveled an alt in Heist to experience the story. Means all dialogues and stuff because I hadn't done that since Dominus was added to the game. The char is still stuck in A8 because the story is so fucking bad it's unbelievable. At least now I won't feel bad for skipping the dialogue all the time. But at that point, the "story" is just a different process of leveling and quite similar to delve. The only differences are, that there are set bosses and quest encounters and more tilesets. However, it is similarly linear. One might argue there is even less choices in the story than in Delve. I think if they implemented this as an alternate leveling, it would take a lot of work to rebalance and improve it. Then there's the concern of how efficient / rewarding it is compared to campaign leveling. For its relative simplicity, should it be slower than campaign? Faster like it is now? Faster exp but worse rewards? I think it would take a lot of dev time that I personally think should go elsewhere, but I recognize that a large portion of the community detests the leveling process and really want this, or something like it. I feel kind of like rEvo, in that the game and what the community wants is evolving away from what interests me. I will say that I enjoyed the challenge, and it was kind of fun letting drops dictate how I go, but that's more of a SSF thing. only 5L I found was a bow, so I respecced to BV and crafted +1 to gems btw, in D3 they added adventure mode, where you just do random quests and level to endgame very fast, no campaign. People seem to love it, though it contributes to the super fast turnover of D3 seasons (very quick to endgame, very quick to get endgame sets, quit) --- also I super agree that the game is getting incredibly bloated. I wish they would either do a rotation of masters / league mechanics and make them more rewarding, or just streamline everything. Imagine unveils being faster and deterministic for example

Current amount feels bloated, even if you ignore systems you don't care for. Things going away for a league or two and then coming back (both major systems like delve/heist as well as minor stuff like breach/legion/delirium/etc) would let you focus more in an individual league and create hype when the content comes back.

https://www.twitch.tv/pathofexile Nice, our Atlas gets passive skill points now (e.g. "maps in this area drop sulphite on boss kills" or "breach encounters have x% more item quantity" and they get "jewel sockets" that we can roll. The new superboss will be you fighting up to 10 existing bosses simultaneously. 11 new maps + bosses. New League is breach but you are prevented from leaving the area and the center of the breach tries to kill you. You can also add bosses you caught with pokeorbs in the breach to increase what you get from it. Rewards.... CAN BE MANUALLY PICKED FROM A LIST AT THE END DEPENDING HOW MANY KILLS YOU GOT. \o/ ...all Ascendencies are reworked. Oh boi, this is where things usually get fucked up. ...LIEGE OF THE PRIMORDIAL HAS AUTO-SUMMON FOR GOLEMS "Gain added spell damage equal to the damage of your main hand weapon" is a thing for inquisitor. Far shot says "Projectile barrage has no spread" Ricochet allows chaining from terrain (WTF) There's a passive for "Mirage Archers are not attached to you" and +2 Mirage Archers. ...they showed pictures on stream for a few ascendencies, should be on reddit soon(tm). Hydrosphere looks like a cool skill and there's a support gem for tri-ele builds. :o "Blackflame" is a unique ring that means your ignites deal chaos damage and your wither stacks on ignited enemies don't expire anymore. Hmmm....

What I really liked were some of the fundamental answers of Chris during the Q&A. Like, giving players more options and let them chose to play what they like and then trade the stuff they need from areas of the game they don't like. Also the different ways of play the game. That purely trading or only support or crafting are styles that are perfectly fine. There were more, but those in particular stood out to me. His philosophies seem quite in line with mine when it comes to ARPGs. On January 08 2021 04:36 Blitzkrieg0 wrote: Harvest and Heist going core. The harvest integration looked decent. I can't open a video on Heist without the creator and chat/comments complain about it. Why is that? I played a fair amount of Heist and think they are ok. The waiting times could have been made better by adding more pressure during waiting times, similarly to when you are on your way out.

Heist would be perfect if there were no doors until espace, the loot would need to be a little bit worse as well (which it will be now for sure considering it won't be the main league anymore). As for the new content, it looks hype. But I can't help it but that after getting 32 Watchstones a lot of times, I feel like the time it takes it way too long. It sort of makes the atlas completion feel tedious, I wonder if the new things make this better or even worse.

The waiting times could have been made better by adding more pressure during waiting times, similarly to when you are on your way out. I'd say leveling rogues is more my disdain for the league personally than doors. If I get a good heist I want to run then I don't want to go back and grind a bunch of crappy heists to level up and equip. In general, stopping or back tracking is the antithesis of good game play. I understand that you're supposed to be defending them from attack and it forces you to clear, but the timing on it is irritating. If they're a desired gate then I think they should have more density and be much less frequent. One big fight per Heist versus having to stop and wait several times would improve the flow considerably. One of reasons I think Harvest integration looks decent is that they got rid of all the fluff. Having to put in pylons for connections is something I was complaining about the first week of the league. It adds zero value to the league or mechanics in any way. They let you save crafts from the start now. GGG has done a much better job surrounding opt in content though. I'm fine with selling my heists and doing things I enjoy instead. There was a time when I was playing hardcore trying to get to maps the first day of the league. Those days are long gone. On January 08 2021 06:20 HolydaKing wrote: After all the Heist patches, Heist doors were ok. With some items that increased speed it wasn't much of a bother anymore. But early on they deserved all the hate they got, since the AI of the Heist members was just dogshit, often they would not open the doors until you were close enough to the door, sometimes they'd bug out completely etc. So I bet a lot of people just play too much Heist early on and then gave up on it. I think the league was way too OP in terms of loot, so the small waits were justified after all the fixed went through. Will add that I have not played Heist recently. Tolerating the content after having to grind items/level on your rogues seems unlikely to improve my stance though.

Ritual kind of reminds me of perandus, but instead of having to scramble for coins when a good buy comes, you can just defer it until you have enough. seems succinct and elegant On the other hand, atlas management feels like it'll be even lengthier. I guess I can just ignore some parts of it but it's a lot to take in

Think miner will be every good this league. I like the new gems only 2 but something new and fun. The trinity support seems perfect for elemental hit.

They were aiming for a closed beta at the end of 2020, I wonder if they hit their mark, or did it slide into 2021? Any news would be appreciated. I can no longer play PoE because of all the skill bloat and visual clusterfuck. At some point you stop looking at the screen and just develop a certain feel for when things around you should be dead... I also absolutely hate how every new league mechanic they introduce becomes a part of the core game. Miss 1 league? You gotta watch a YT tutorial to figure out how to abuse it to not fall behind in farming the very next league. At this point I think even mindlessly leveling up the 6 masters with missions was better, if only because it was a staple core mechanic that never changed.
