Never used that feature, I think they added that recently and I never dabbled in it. I know it saves aura choices which is a feature I find amazing as it lets me plan out my auras and mana solutions.
Hey guys, is that Passive planner overkill in regards to defensiveness? I am sure it's awful in the details, but i am more then happy to change trhat when i realize what is more important later on, and quite frankly, i am gonna die anyway before i get to the point where i would fine tune it :D So, consiering my goal is to hit the block cap, is around that too much defense to clear stuff in the lategame content or would that route be somewhat doable without trading 20 exalteds or something like that?
For one thing, you are taking wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too many resists on that tree. I know it's a bitch to cap your resists, but seriously it's not that hard if you are willing to do a little bit of bargain hunting for gear. You certainly don't need the 100%+ resists you have on that tree.
Next up is armour. Armour is bad. A little bit of armour is nice (50% on the tree and some decent armour pieces). For everything else, there's granite flasks (of iron skin) and basalt flasks (of whatever suffix you like). Sentinel and Combat stamina for example are probably more than enough armour from the tree. If you really wanted to go all in on armour you'd be a juggernaut (and it would still be meh). You also really want endurance charges to go with armour.
Next up. Block. You have too much. Between your ascendancy, the base block of your shield, an anvil and boom already overcapped. If you are using a unique shield (and you should be), figure out exactly what block % it will be and calculate out your block numbers exactly. Then cut some block nodes.
Next up. "Defenses from equipped shield". This mod secretly reads "does nothing". You are already forced into like 250% from the good block nodes. Every additional bit is additive with all your other armour scaling (aka not multiplicative so bad). Never take a node that only has that on it.
Next up. Life. Skipping 5% life nodes that you are touching in softcore is a sin. Doing it in hardcore is literally unthinkable. 5% life nodes are the best nodes on the tree (except jewels which can roll 7 and other lifenodes that roll higher). Go gettem.
you can probably take this and modify it a bit for a duelist start. this was the second or third build i did - was before even dominus came out, but it was a pretty big quality of life increase over... whatever idiocy i was doing prior.
Unless you are playing on HC I would advise against any too defensive builds. Even on HC, you will run into battles where if your DPS is too low, no amount of defenses will save you like how Kungen died vs Xoph.
@Archangel: It is a HC character, so the question is indeed if it is too defensive even for that. I have literallyn o idea how damage scales into lategame, right now i am very comfortable with the build at level 45 damagewise and i would say it's about as defensive in proportion as it will be at maxlevel i won't reach. So i will try to get more damage nodes.
@ticklishmusic: i'll check that out, looks solid
@Sn0_Man; That is a lot of information :D
Block: I am counting on getting the amulet that raises the block cap by 3 i think, if i get a shield with 30 % block i should not exceed that with tempest shield on. But maybe my math is off, i might be wrong.
Armor: I will reduce armor then, i have no idea how it scales, right now it should still give me a solid physical reduction, but i guess lategame that is not the case if you don't invest heavily in it?
Defenses from quipped shield: Yeah, makes sense, if armor is not that important anyway and the only other stat it could boost is evasion, that isn ot worth a lot.
resistances: They are the only thing that kill me all the time. I am really scared of low resistances, especially as i am not a trader. I am playing by myself mostly and hope to get the items i need. I was almost oneshot by a volatile stormblood with just 30% lightning res and i am scared shitless I'll see how many resis i can get from equipment and reduce accordingly.
Life: More life then I guess i can redirect some nodes that i thought were more valuable for a balanced defense.
You want to have 6k or more life in end game and 75% resistances. Then in addition to that you add block or endurance charges or both. Then in addition to that you add armor or evasion or both. And you make sure your DPS does not go too low. Which is very hard with weapon builds if you plan to not trade. Having a really good weapon is hard in self found mode. Better to play a caster in that case.

My offline skill tree planner thing hasn't wiped since at least a year when he introduced the new update function. Before then I just installed multiple copies at once but that's a bit annoying if you want to look at old builds.
Yeah this actually doesn't bold very well for the content of the main game.
Seeing horror stories about D3 and how ít console development affected the game, I'm not optimistic, especially considering GGG is still a 'small' company all the way in NZ.
Once they had dx11 working I'm willing to believe chris's statement that it was just a small team that got it ported. The upfront cost is probably not that high.
The real issue is continuously updating content. That's just not a console development model and I have real concerns about the kind of decisions that supporting XBOX will force in the future.
Act 5 leaks were nice tho

its "bode" not "bold also d3 horror stories are dumb, the game was a giant steaming pile regardless of consolization. the console version is substantially different, enough that they could have made a good pc game but they never had any intention of doing that.
It will affect the pc client in some negative ways though.
GGG is already always tight on development schedule and budget (trade system, pvp system, guild support, 3D art, race system, performance issue... etc) and now they just take on a huge task of continuously support the games on 2 different platform. A lot will have to be compromised :/.
Chris released a development manifesto in response to the complaints https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1821427 tl;dr: "We knew everybody would complain about these exact things. We will be different. Because i say so." not really very reassuring imo
