I stated im -->NOT<-- the type of person to stick something out thats boring me, read properly please. PolSC2 I also didnt say i was turned off by the graphics, quite the opposite i said actually.. im confused as to why people here are getting the opposite to what i say! Perhaps i will pick up FF6 and play through the opening part, but i just cant get into it. On the topic of FF13, i suppose all the newgens attract hate, but the corridor gameplay was meh, so i can half understand it, however ff13-2 looks pretty awesome, at least lightning does!

I didn't mind the linearity in XIII. While exploration was limited, the "hallways" came in so many different locales (so beautiful too, mind you), and they really gave a great sense of adventure. The layout wasn't much different than FFX's, which was also super linear.

I need to die about 2-3 times on the trash pulls just to be able to kill them. I assume the difficulty changes on its own cause this seems to work. I'm on that crap where you get teleported into a room when you examine some stupid girl who teleports around and that guy that deals heavy phys dmg insta killed my characters and I had to sit with sen/med/syn until the syn guy buffed me with 6 buffs then switch to sen/med/sab and then I could start attacking. I got no idea what I did wrong.. I didn't skip many enemies lol and still so damn weak ![]() You won't be able to farm sacrifices easily after beating the game. However, since you are talking about CP, you'll still be able to farm reliably w/ Vanille's death spam on the turtles (the traps+plats are a good bonus as well). Your battle setup may be an issue. After all, people have pulled off no crystarium runs 0.o

Didn't read your previous comments, solely commenting on your FFVI bit here. I, too, was not intrigued by FFVI when I first watched my friend play it/played through the first hour of it. Recently I moved in with that friend and decided to give it another go since it had been a while since I have ventured into a FF. I must say I am enjoying it (only about 4 hours in). Much more to it then I previously thought. Maybe you have to get past the beginning, but it seems like it will turn into a very good game.

Much more to it then I previously thought. Maybe you have to get past the beginning, but it seems like it will turn into a very good game. The opening to FFVI is used to introduce you to the evil Empire and their weaponization of the espers and magic through the Magitek armor. It introduces people to the battle system and lets the player explore and try to figure out what's going on. You eventually meet the Returners, a rebel uprising against the Empire, and the story starts to bloom. If it's not your cup of tea, then that's fine, but give it a little more of a chance past the opening. I had watched a friend of mine go through FFXIII, and if I remember correctly, it took a double-digit number of hours for the game to get past holding your hand and keeping you on an extremely linear path. The game looked beautiful, and the combat looked fun though.

PolSC2 how the hell can you be bored when you didn't even get past the opening? jesus man i can understand how people can be critical of the game or say they're bored after spending some time with the game. personally, i don't think the game really picked up until after the esper defense at narshe. but you can't even get past the opening scene, that's horrible when ff7 came out i thought the graphics were horrible. great looking fmvs, but overworld graphics were just soooo ugly. and it's aged poorly as well. my brother and our friend used to mock me for thinking the graphics were terrible. nope. still terrible.

This trailer contains a decent bit of spoilers, but if you haven't played the game you might not understand some of them: http://www.youtube.com/user/HCBailly#p/c/076E714267E62329/0/PfgWtzE30Sg This is episode 1 of the Let's play if you don't want to spoil some parts of the game and just want to see how the game starts out with a few episodes of him playing: http://www.youtube.com/user/HCBailly#p/c/076E714267E62329/1/WGkr3iwW0lg Watch about a hour of him playing, should give you a good idea if you wish to play the game or even just watch him play it (he has a different take on the game than most people, but its not noticeable until later in the game).

You make an argument that X was linear. Be that as it may, did FFXIII have the same sprawling cities as X or any other Final Fantasy's for that matter. No. FFXII was but a soulless doll compared to every other Final Fantasy that ever came before it. That pretty much describes my hatred for FFXIII in two words. Soulless Doll

XIII did not have towns (well, you got to walk around one which looked quite nice) as the narrative and pace of the game did not allow for it. In that sense, perhaps XIII is a horrible FF when set against what you think an FF is "supposed" to be, but like XII, it dropped many traditions and ended up being a well built game. As many have stated, it is quite love or hate.

PolSC2 So in order for you to get involved in any game, you require a super flashy movie from the very first second? Lol Sounds like you didn't even get past the opening movie sequence. Wow.

Considering how creatures block a lot of exits and pop outta freaking nowhere pretty constantly, I wouldn't consider it "nonrandom". The worst game for random encounters (but best game for almost everything else) was Skies of Arcadia back on the Dreamcast...the Gamecube version helped a bit.

Ive played the game up untill that treasure hunter bloke turned up and was getting terra out, im going to continue further but im still not intrested to be honest, the ATB system its implemented it much too slow. Gameplay from FF4/5 surpasses it in the 2d games in my opinion.
