Can someone answer a question for me? I'm a big FF fan but I clearly don't know as much about the series as you guys do. I'm confused as to how the numbering system works. I've heard people say FFVI (or FFIV?) is the same as FFII. A few posts in here mention the characters I know from one version but label them as being from a different version. So, what is this the "correct order" that someone living in North America would see? Some of the games listed in the OP aren't games that I ever recall seeing in stores. For example, FFIV is really FFII, and FFVI is FFIII? If anyone has the time/incentive to answer, I'm all ears/eyes ![]() EDIT: I may have found my answer (might help others who are wondering the same thing): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy#Main_series Just a wee bit convoluted.

Japanese 1-13 Rest of the World: 6 = Final Fantasy 3 Therefore i would assume 5 = 2 4 = 1. They stopped with that BS when VII/7 on the PSX was released.

This was the first iteration of the games releases in NA: Final Fantasy 1 = Final Fantasy 1 Final Fantasy 2 = Final Fantasy 2 on iPhone (and DS?) Final Fantasy 3 = Final Fantasy 3 on iPhone and DS Final Fantasy 4 = Final Fantasy 2 on SNES Final Fantasy 5 = Final Fantasy Anthology on PSOne (and a GBA game I think?) Final Fantasy 6 = Final Fantasy 3 on SNES 7-13 were all done as the same numbers in both Japan and NA

My characters are so fucking weak I'm about to throw the controller in the wall lol. I need to die about 2-3 times on the trash pulls just to be able to kill them. I assume the difficulty changes on its own cause this seems to work. I'm on that crap where you get teleported into a room when you examine some stupid girl who teleports around and that guy that deals heavy phys dmg insta killed my characters and I had to sit with sen/med/syn until the syn guy buffed me with 6 buffs then switch to sen/med/sab and then I could start attacking. I got no idea what I did wrong.. I didn't skip many enemies lol and still so damn weak ![]()

This isnt a graphical rejection from my mind xD I am a massive fan of FF4 cecil was gosu! On a side note, the hate for FF13 is a bit much isnt it? i'll agree square enix FAILED when they made it completely non-linear and "run down this corridor to the next corridor" but the battle system and story line are both exceptional, the graphics somewhat breathtaking. It deserves respect in those areas i would say. Although i wouldnt say ff13's storyline compares much to 7's or X's (ive not played 8 and dont remember 9 well, planning to get them both on my ps3 soonish after seeing this thread haha)

You turned the game off without playing it, seems there is nothing to say. Maybe open your mind?

XIII is amongst the higher tier FFs, IMO. Many hated XII when it came out and it was a masterpiece of a PS2 rpg. The cycle of hate is all very predictable, and it really only applies to forum culture anyways, because for some reason Square is making XIII-2. As for VI, it was amazing for its time, and it really is still very fun today. I'm surprised you're turned off by the graphics and not the script though, because IMO, the graphics have aged very well and it's quite a charming looking game.

Seriously man, read what ive written before judging me. Pretty sure most people don't consider playing a game past the opening sequence means to "stick something out".

I dunno, I went in with expectations of a Final Fantasy game and was disappointed when I got 0 story for the first 45 minutes or so, all I got was trudging through a mine with two faceless characters and a "mysterious" character that was spoilered by the box. I didn't play any further either. It's not a bad game, but the opening is enough to drive anyone but the most determined off.

At least personally I find it confusing as hell when people use III when talking about VI etc. Some people seem to claim that it's elitist to use the correct names but I can't quite agree with it. And while VI is awesome most of the new gamer generation won't be able to sit through it or appreciate it.
