Straight up shooter with some rpg elements like currency to customize or purchase weapons. They seem to unnecessary besides to immerse you however.

Certainly helps considering it kinda starts where the first one ended. You could also read the Book that the first one was kinda based on or a summary of it.

In ranger mode you simply cannot see how many bullets you have? I can see the currency when i press tab but i cannot see the amount of ammo i have anywhere? Also what is this talk of aim assistance being on?

It only makes the game that much more mind boggling to me. Now that I've finished it I can safely say that was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever been through. And here I thought the best game this year would easily be Bioshock Infinite....

Yeah I can't figure out how to see how many bullets you have remaining =/. Also, for anyone trying to figure out how to use grenades/claymores/throwing knives, you hold tab and move the mouse in a direction to choose the item and press c to use; up = knife, left = nade, right = incendiary nade, down = claymore. Wasted so many bullets in the game cause I couldn't figure out how to use throwing knives lol.

It's on by default, you've to change aim_assist cvar to 0 if you want it off.

Thats wrong by the way. Only if you use a controler which is pretty standard.
I got the game now and besides the wierd Russian accents and both the English and German voice over it's great so far. Anyone speaking russian should play it in said language because the voice acting just well sounds more natural ( i sadly can't do it because too much stuff isn't subtitled ) Having alot more fun than i had with Bioshock Infinite . I also really dig the atmossphere. Stealth element is also very cool although if you stealth alot you will be showered in ammo and money
The game lacks a bit of refinement in a few areas and it's pretty noticeable but it's still very good. With more time and a bigger budget this game could've been incredible.

How is it wrong, the cvar for it was enabled and I don't even have controller.
On a happier news, the fov can be changed now! See here. With few hours in, the game really is amazing, even more so after reading in what kind of conditions they had to work.

Maybe but it does nothing when your not using a controler . Try it out.

In ranger mode you only see how many bullets are left when you look at your gun, most are designed so you can somehow se the mag.

Yep. The entire point of Ranger mode seems to be complete and total immersion. It's a lot of fun, especially if you enjoy stealth gameplay, which you will want to take that route on this difficulty.

Though you should be able to count your bullets if you are not currently shooting something. I think people can do that.

Thoughts after finishing the game:
- Plotwise, worthy successor to 2033! Thank god. Though Anna was a bit of a strange addition, I guess necessary for what they wanted with the plot? - Just as creepy in some parts, possibly even more immersive - stealth was a lot easier, peoples are always standing so far from each other/there's always a way to avoid groups. Also, people walk super slowly >_>. Not sure if I liked that so much, made it too easy on ranger hardcore. But knifing people is still super fun. - ^throwing knives still OP - night vision goggles also OP. - controls hard to get jumping into ranger mode for first run through, might be worth playing normal for people who aren't familiar with metro - Game is really unoptimized for AMD cards, hard to run it on much lower settings to get it smooth - Never figured out how to carry 3 guns .. - Artyom never learns that there's always a douchebag waiting behind that closed door.

I realise u can count your bullets currently in your gun, what interests me is how many i have BESIDES this. You get to see it pressing tab when in a town though.

Good as a story but way easier then the first now that i have completed it which was a letdown. Also i had nothing to spend my bullets on. Ended the game with 700 bullets. Bought like one gun and ammo and thats it. Also there are masks and filers _everywhere_ and the stealth mode was way too linear with groups dispersing automatically. Overall good game but they made it way too easy on ranger compared to the first game.

This game lives so much from the atmosphere. I'm really digging it.
|
Is the save system still the same as in metro 2033?
|
Thank you so much for the OP getting me hyped to try this!! I got metro 2033 for free a while back and never bothered to try it, but boy was i missing out. Just finished it, and i LOVED it, it gave me exactly as you said, the RE1 feelings!!!! On top of the games story being so addictive and entertaining, the game looked absolutely amazing, i mean really really good. I played this game at night w/ the lights off on full graphics and i just SANK into it. Seriously best fps I've played in a long long time.
