Rufus is probably the "easiest" in the sense that he's really really strong in the beginning, vs beginning players and lets you get used to the game a bit more, his playstyle is really straightforward, he can combo into Ultra off anything(comeback king) and his comboes are pretty easy if you get the 1 frame link down. For that I'd suggest learning plinking, it makes 1 frame links far easier.
Plinking = pressing another button 1 frame after the first button, that way it registers the first button twice. So basically you turn a 1 frame link into a 2 frame link, doubling your chances.

Guys is it possible to play with a keyboard? I tried to look at the controls and it's kinda tough to translate them to mapping on the keyboard.
I could get ryu to do shoryuken consistently with down, side, down, side punch. but the hadouken seems to be very random.

I'd highly recommend grabbing a fight stick or at the very least a 360 gamepad. The fighting game genre is one of the few that is by far more enjoyable without mouse/keyboard.

Bought it during the steam sale. Pretty difficult to link combos together. I have also had a inability to do any down to up moves due to the speed required that does not work with a keyboard layout.

Aahh okay, I'll try connecting my ps3 controller to the pc, dont really feel like investing in a fighting stick right now.

The earlier the better because you will have to practice A LOT with it to be accurate with the motions etc.

There are guys at Evo who bring keyboard controllers even. I would try your PS3 pad as more people would prefer that to keyboard but if you still like keyboard keep using it. I remember playing on GGPO with my keyboard before I got a stick, it's definitely doable but more people prefer the feel of a stick or pad (including myself).

I have about 227 on-hand to spend and I'm really looking for a good reliable stick without overspending or using up all my funds! Please link me to specific sticks!

Rufus seems fairly simple to get down to a reasonable level altho hes probably the rarest character online for whatever reason, so maybe he has problems online *shrug*.
this brings back such bad memories. I mained Rufus from Vanilla to start of Super and online play was the exact reason why I had to drop him. The 1 frame BnB was ridiculous to pull off online, but the worst was divekick. Even with a perfectly placed divekick on the knees of Ken and Ryu, I'd get mashed DP'd for free.

I like them, theyre a little Fisher Price though. Not cheap, just not as beefy as a TE
|
What do you mean by beefy? They're pretty popular here in Montreal

Well the TE has two rather heavy and unnecessary metal plates in it... its hefty

If you don't need a dual modded stick, you can save a chunk of money buying a TE of some variety. If you do expect to need to play on both PS3 and 360 though, a Q4's probably the easiest way of going about it.

Can you guys link to some other ones?

By the way if the enemy is crouching my Oni blockstring and I Kara a demon to the end of it can they escape it? Or is it impossible to jump in 1 frame if you are crouching? If so my standard blockstring just got pretty scary :3

ya well i have to agree. charakters with easy motions on the stick like ken are surprisingly easy to handle on a keyboard, nontheless i decided to get a stick because i guess the transition only gets harder the longer one waits.
right now im deciding between (german amazon, but i hope article name is enough) Madcatz Street Fighter X Tekken Pro and Madcatz TE Round 2
Both should have Sanwa parts, and both can easily be used at the pc right? any opinions on the two sticks?
