Agreed. It's a bioware RPG that has more in common with KOTOR and the Baldur's Gate series than Mass Effect. DA2 not so much though.

The game itself is pretty okayish. But it has Jack Black in it, tons of Metal, tons of Metal cameos and the typical Tim Schafer humor. If that's your thing, you certainly can't go wrong with 2 bucks.

da2 is unfairly maligned i think
but dao is great really

Brutal Legends is absolutely worth the $2. The game peters out a bit towards the end, but the first half is awesome.

It's probably one of the better ones in these last years but the plot is so generic :/ That's sad because the universe is interesting.
Dragon Age 2 sucks balls though.

dragon age has a decent setting and a good combat engine. Plus Morrigan has one of the best voiceovers of any pc game ever.
I totally recommend it, but you should probably start playing on a difficulty higher than normal if you played games likie icewind dale or baldurs gate, otherwise it will be a pushover, since its balanced for people who dont want to have anything to do with tactical combat.
I never played the second part, i hard they removed the option to make it about tactical combat and went almost 3rd person style. Which kills the series for me.

Dragon Age: Origins is the best Game of the last 10 years. (kotor is older than 10years)

Dust: An Elysian Tail worth buying if you don't have a gamepad?

Only for today so yeah best time to pick it up or rebuy it if you happened to of had your cd's break in a move.. I copied my TA CD. The copy still works, the original does not. Riddle me that. Also TA:K was a monumental let down, but the original is still amazing. God i forgot Kingdoms even existed. So so much worse then the original. I am the oddball who enjoyed Kingdoms as much as the original. *shrug*
You're not the only one! I thoroughly enjoyed just flying around with my dragon lvling him up so he could decimate everything like a Krogoth. It had a different setting than the original but kept the same design/mechanics. Maybe ppl just didn't like the premise? I dunno. Can't remember if it came out significantly later or not. Might have had something to do with it. Btw, I still have the original boxes for both in my cupboard, discs/booklets etc. I used to listen to the soundtrack off the cd (believe it worked just in windows).
Can anyone recommend where to keep an eye out for Cyber Monday deals?
There's a sale over at Green Man Gaming as well if you're interested. http://www.greenmangaming.com/4-play-climax/?emst=W6d1JxjNqh_128673_272084_439

And for some unknown reason the Gamepad control is non-customizable, but keyboard is.

If you don't mind playing games (platformers in particular) with a keyboard, then I'm sure this would be fine. Personally, I think a controller fits the game type well (platforming + somewhat freeform combat).

I wouldn't even call it the best PC RPG.

DA2 is not that bad, it's just cool to hate it for some reason. It is worse than DA:O for sure, and it feels rushed in places, but it is not a bad game at all and is well worth the discounted price.

It is worse than DA:O for sure, and it feels rushed in places, but it is not a bad game at all and is well worth the discounted price. i thought the story was nice and i actually prefer the crisp graphics compared to those in da:o but it definitely didn't meet the standards that da:o set in terms of gameplay, worldbuilding, etc. enemies were all super easy and instead of making harder enemies they thought itd be a great idea to have more and more waves of small fry?? all the cave maps are very very obviously reused where you just enter from a different spot in the cave (as if we wouldn't notice...). The one thing that REALLY pissed me off in da2 was not being able to customize my party's gear past the weapon iirc.
there also wasn't the witty dialogue that everyone loved (e.g. between alistair and morrigan), and the dialogue options in da2 were very ambiguous...

DA 2 is messy and rushed. You get deja-vu effects all the time when "exploring" a cave because they are all excatly the same. The graphics are weird because the city and the npcs in it lack so much detail compared to your main characters. Animations are very strange, I remember some bandits for example (who all looked the same) that would break into blocks like a lego man when killed.
Things like that completly ruin the atmosphere for me (especially in an RPG of course). Then theres the boring stereotype characters and dialogue, missing features like gear for your party etc.
Its just a bad game technical imo.

I got the huge deja-vu effect in skyrim. Never understood why its so loved.
Granted, there are some pretty amazing areas in skyrim, but the majority of them are very linear and have that nagging copy paste feeling. Been to one bandit cave/dwarven steampunk area/undead viking dude crypt seen em all. Had to hunt down the far and few between gems.

I hear ya. Its a nice game sure but damn do I think its over hyped (and yes mods make it better but if the game isn't awesome out of the box I don't consider it awesome).

DA2 literally reused the same handful of maps for different zones and just had you enter them at different points. The game isn't horrible but it is completely skippable and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone really.
