Follow Iorveths plan, do not go through Flotsam but follow him on the cliffs around Flotsam and make the assault on the prison barge with a group of elves. This is what you're supposed to do if I am not mistaken where you are in the plot. This Helpful? + Show Spoiler + Hmm I just walked straight through town to the dock without any problems. I know later on in the game there's kind of a similar situation and you have to avoid commanders who can see through the ploy but I don't remember that at that point. Maybe take a different route through town? I went through the nonhuman district and then to the dock if that helps at all.

First of all the combat is kind of cool, but I'm having trouble adjusting. I probably will after some more fights tho. Is it just me or is Quen (the shield) way to overpowered in this game ? I just put that on me go in parry a hit, heavy hit, dodge out, recast quen, repeat ? Doesn't seem like the way they intended the game to be played If you want the combat to be challenging, stop using Quen. It's completely overpowered and makes everything boring ![]()

Have you tried reading my post? I was fighting the guards. I had lots of health. It went into a CUT SCENE that I had NO CONTROL OVER and I died. I capitalized the bits you failed to understand.

It isn't mandatory, though i think it may (or may not ![]() There are references to W1, but (so far) i haven't found any important ones, just the ones that make you smile (actually reading the Sapkowski's Books before playing W1 and W2 makes gaming experience even more enjoyable but you still won't miss that much if you play W2 without playing W1 or play W1 before reading the books, which are AMAZING btw, dunno if they are as cool after being translated though).

Which is it? Where do you get the cutscene when you go on the cliffs?

Which is it? Where do you get the cutscene when you go on the cliffs? + Show Spoiler + I did both. When you follow Iorveth there are two options: one takes you through Flotsam, the other the prison barge. I went to Flotsam first, took a few steps and this happened. I loaded the previous save to take the prison barge option, killed some guards but cutscene happened near the docks.

I just finished the game a week ago on Hard and found it to be very easy overusing quen. I went Swordmaster so I'm not sure the amount of damage potential igni has but I found it to be more boring using damaging spells mainly because they didn't do much damage compared to spamming your heavy/light with quen on (no intterupt on attacks) Sometimes I would use Aard to lower their guard. Even not being Swordsmanship I find using swords to do more if you upgrade them often.

The design of the choices you have to make is so much better than the usual 'do I go the lawful good or the asshole route' of other recent rpgs it's ridiculous. I'm at the crossroads in chapter 1 right now and I've been trying to decide what road to take for about 15 minutes now. Up to now by far the best RPG I've played in the last years. If you want most out of the game choose that elf dude. The second chapter is then MUCH better.
