Please I am asking because it feels like this game is very gfx intensive No, you're "asking" because you just built an awesome new computer and want to brag about it. We're impressed, good job.

I have a question about the end of the prologue
+ Show Spoiler +how come the assassin muscle guy have the king's head when he is in the cavern with the elf? Earlier you could see him killing the king by slitting his throat but it wasn't a full decapitation and the king still had his head when Geralt came back from the window, right? I don't understand it at all.

+ Show Spoiler +It's a different King, that cutscene takes place four months earlier and that's when he starts colluding with the elves to actually kill Foltest.

I'm "kinda" new to RPG genre, i played few, and recently did started Baldurs Gate 2, i liked it from the first few dialogues. It will probably take me few months to complete it, since my main focus is SC2, but i'll do it. I must agree, there is hardly any rpg that gives you real freedom, mostly is like you described, A or B, but the end is the same. I was always looking for RPGs like fallout 1 or 2, but sadly they never come out, and too bad i discovered other RPGs like BA2 too late.

lol ok back to seriousness. even my "AWESOME" computer has trouble maintaining decent FPS during battles and on medium settings. hope this gives some buyers some idea. weird because i can run crysis 2 on max. i guess witcher is much more gfx intense.

There is no hate being taken out on anyone, if you would read the entire post before jumping in and making a remark you would realize that.

I am at the end of the prologue, and these are my impressions so far:
- The combat so far is annoying. Not exactly mindless button mashing, but pretty close to it. I feel forced to abuse rolls, which is kind of stupid, because every fight with multiple enemies consists of me rolling around like an idiot until one of the enemies strays away from the group and gets slashed. Repeat until no enemies left. I suspect it gets better when more abilities become available, but right now I would much rather prefer the precise Dragon Age-style combat mechanics.
- The graphics are good, but not nearly good enough to justify the poor performance. I have a 2 years old ATi card (4850) so I am not expecting 100 FPS, however the way it looks on medium settings does not justify the 10-20 FPS that I am getting, especially in the indoor areas (compared to Crysis, Metro 2033 etc.) Though I suspect this may be a driver issue.
(Updated to the latest driver, works better, still not very stable FPS, but definitely playable. Disabling SSAO also gives a noticeable boost but personally I think it looks too good to switch it off)
- I just don't get what the "quick, tap this button!" object interactions are for.
- I totally hate The DA2/ME style obscure dialog choices. "Very funny." = "Fuck you!". Really?
But everything else seems OK. The battle/castle siege scenes are very well done. The small cutscenes add to the atmosphere very well. The story seems good, at least I am curious to know what is going to happen next. I think the timed dialog choices are a great idea!

Yea, that's how it feels at first, but you get more used to it. Start using Yrden, Quen, and bombs, they really help.

Took two full days off studying for finals to kill this game :< I absolutely love it <3 Will play through again after tests on a different path.
Although I must say (spoilerish on ending) + Show Spoiler +Chapter 3 + the epilogue was pretty weak, especially compared to TW1.
Like TW1, combat pretty much gets easier as you advance in the game. There were still a few battles where I had to reload several times though, so I'm not complaining :> (hard diff)
Edit:

Easy there, there was hardly any spoiler + the exact same lines have been uttered further back in the thread. Noted and edited though.

I am out of bombs and the signs only disable one enemy at a time which is not terribly useful when there are 4 of them, so I still feel forced to abuse the AI.
E.g., + Show Spoiler [Very mild prologue spoiler] +The fight at the temple gate where you have to let Foltest in. I didn't drink swallow and I had a bad start so I quickly got to 20% health, and there was that heavy-hitting knight in a horned helm so I was afraid to engage directly, and for the next 10 minutes I tried to get the enemies stuck between the columns and fry them with Igni, which worked but wasn't too amusing with the stupid king yelling the same phrase over and over

The combat system feels like it encourages rolling around all the time instead of parrying, because its so damn unresponsive when you try to parry and you get hit so many times before the character even does anything when you try to parry most of the times. Friendly NPC's feel pretty annoying too as you can't go through/push them. Not a fan at all so far, after 4-5 hours of playing, let's see if it changes.
and people complaining about parry: + Show Spoiler + You can parry right after you striked and even if the animation isnt showing u are. (just make sure u have vigor) and you are able to parry multiple enemies blows at the same time, tho it does hurt unless you have improved this method. (quen is awesome, especially improved and in rain)
