I wouldn't have any problem with saying "Go play the Witcher 1 first, and then come back and play the Witcher 2" if that's what you want to do. You'll better understand the story in the second one for sure, and enjoy the first one quite a bit in the process.

However, you should play the first game. It is something that you will be glad you did.

I think if they had the same system in witcher 2 with itsimproved sign usage it would have been perfectly fine. i actually love the witcher 1 combat system. i mean it is no batman AA but heck it beats auto attack or button smashing. going to play witcher 1 first and then get excited for witcher 2 ![]()

Or is it okay to just jump into the second one? to understand and relate to some characters properly it's better to play the first part and then the second. But it is not necessary to understand the story of witcher 2

Those papercrafts on the other hand, that was some serious business! Ok, more seriously ![]() So during chapter 1 at the tavern there's this monk that plays poker dice. If you beat him, he speaks of some sort of relic, don’t remember exactly and that's it. There is then an entry added to the journal saying "Go check in extras to claim you reward" and there's a picture of the monk with written "gog.com". Problem is, I've bought mine in store. I would assume that I’m screwed and this is something only for gog buyers but just in case, anyway to get the reward? ![]()

I love the combat, it's intuitive and way better and more challenging than in the first part. The graphics look superb and the story so far is great. Oh and the dialogue <3

Combat is hard true, but you will get the hang of it eventually and perhaps come to love it like I did. If you face too big a swarm use traps and bombs, helps to be prepared ![]() Inventory is a big hassle though, wish I had a place to store some of all those indregients/crafting components.

Tutorial was kinda needed though. I entered the game having no clue how to fight. Only learned blocking after the prologue and throwing bombs etc. towards the end of that one.
