So, I'm considering going out and giving this a buy and dusting off the old 360.
Some questions though:
* Is it good on the 360? I know Demon Souls was a Playstation game, so this is a question I would firstly like answered
* Just how difficult is it? I would love a detailed answer to this. I am looking for a challenge.
* Is there anything other than simple melee classes? All the gameplay videos I have seen (albeit not many) have been simple sword/shield whacking around but I heard there are like 10 classes to play.
* How long does the game take?

-The game is fine on both platforms. Both have the same framerate issues in some areas. Also this game does have "co-op" but you can't choose who you play with or have party chat. I only bring this up because many 360 players do not understand how the anonymous co-op thing works because nothing else really plays this way.
-The game is as difficult as you want it to be. It is very challenging. The combat is very strict and precise. If you execute your moves correctly you can go very far, but if you get greedy or try to play quickly the game will punish you very harshly. Play safely and methodically and you will do well at this game.
-The classes don't really mean very much in this game. They pretty much only determine your starting stats and equipment. The game discourages pure magic builds because all spells have limited number of uses until you rest again. You can level a stat (attunement) to incease the amount of casts you get, but TBH it's not worth it. The melee combat is where the heart of this game is at. Get a weapon you can get behind and then throw in some magic to compliment it when the weapon is less effective.
-This game is LONG. 60+ hours seems normal for a first run. The game then has New Game+ where you keep mostly everything and start over and the enemies scale. Farm souls in the forest. 7k souls approximately every 60-90 seconds, depending how fast you can kill them, or get them killed. I'll elaborate on this a bit later.
First you need 20k souls to buy the forest seal from the Blacksmith, then head down to the forest and unlock the gate with the seal. The bonfire is right beside it. When you walk pass the gate, there are 4 NPCs that you can kill and they will respawn every time you visit a bonfire. There is also 2 more NPCs that doesn't respawn. There is 1 Mage (2k souls), 1 Theif (2k souls), 1 Cleric (2k souls), 1 Warrior (1k souls), in the order you encounter them. The two non respawnable NPC is a Warrior (3k souls) and an Archer who has unique loot (5k souls). Both non respawnable NPC and the Theif are in ghost form, so you can't lock onto them.
Besides killing them the regular way, there is a glitch with the AI in the game. When you run to the bottom corner edge of the stairs where you enter from the gate, the NPCs won't follow you straight to that spot, and instead, they will go around, up the stairs, and them jump down to try to get you, which most of the time, falls off the cliff and die instead. So don't do this if you don't want to "cheat".
Video attached. + Show Spoiler +
However, sometimes the AI gets stuck and doesn't run up the stairs. They will stall or even back up, so you have to run out of your spot and lure them again, wasting time. I personally flat out kill them with my Homing Soulmass, as it's much quicker overall, and I have control.
The other two NPCs are on the opposite side of these four, not far away.
Speaking of which, where is the Four Kings ?
Oh, and the Wolf Boss is further in this area (pass the building and small bridge where the warrior is, and go straight till you see another bridge). Pay him a visit if you haven't already.

The four kings are in New Londo which you can access right below the bonfire in firelink shrine. You can't get to the boss though unless you kill the boss in that forest you were just talking about.

My Sorc is so imbalanced. 1000 damage a shot. I'm 100% Vitality and Intelligence. Healthy and smart

From what I hear Pyromancer is the one to go for as a beginner.
Hope my copy arrives tommorow, can't wait to start though I will probably regret it ^^

I'm not sure which gift to take, I heard people saying not to take the master key because you can end up in places you are not supposed to be in. People recomended the pendant irrc, any thoughts?

Yeah, the worst of the frame rate issue is at the bottom of Blight Town in the swamp area. Oh my god, it's horrendous. If you google "framerate", "lag" and "Blight Town", you'll find lots of complaints.
My build is pure magic, and I'm doing really well though. You can equip the same spell multiple times to increase the total usable quantity, and with attunement, you can equip up to 10 spells.
In Demon Souls, my last character cleared the game at least 16 times with 300+ hours invested. The only issue is that when your level is that high, there aren't many people to play with (especially PvP). I think this game would change as there seems to be more Dark Souls players.

Hahaha. Who the hell does that
But yes, Master Key is the way to go, or the Pendant, since there is an NPC that will want it for story purposes. I chose the Master Key.
First thing I do right out of the Asylum, is to unlock the door to the Valley of Drakes with your Master Key, then suicide loot the Dragon Crest Shield and a sword that does physical and magic damage (forgot the name) by a sleeping dragon. It proceeds to one shot you after you lewt its precious.

Do not use 2 handers! Use a shield with a thrusting 1 hander, like rapiers etc.. Same like Demon Souls, you can hide behind your shield while attack at the same time, and these weapons attack very fast. A lot of the time in Demon Souls during PvP, people would try to close in on me, thinking since that I'm a Mage with low HP and assume that I have no melee combat capability, they're always the ones that pay the price. With Homing Soulmass and a decently upgraded weapon, you can tore them to shreds.
- The Wolf boss is the coolest ever. - I'm in the Crystal Cave, and I want to stab myself. I've never died so much even to mobs. How are you so high level before the four kings, what else can I do before them? Lot's of doors are sealed and I thought he was the next guy to go to. + Show Spoiler +http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp6IKCG1U8U However, sometimes the AI gets stuck and doesn't run up the stairs. Oh, thanks! The four kings are in New Londo which you can access right below the bonfire in firelink shrine. You can't get to the boss though unless you kill the boss in that forest you were just talking about. Which, the Wolf? Yeah the wolf, then you get an item to be able to walk on the abyss. Without it you just fall and die.

I leveled up Vitality and Strength for my knight in the 1st 2 level ups. Which others should I focus on too?

Endurance. I have a knight with 20str/21end/i think 18 vit and 14 dex. THe more endurance the more shots you can block, the longer you can sprint, the more you can carry. Just a great stat all around. I wouldn't worry about leveling a scaling stat in your first play through since the lightning spear destroys everything you can find anyways.
