64 players? I remember reading somewhere it would feature 128 player battles (would have been epic) . Though to be fair it wouldn't have made that much of a difference (in the sense they'd just make the maps bigger, more vehicles, and it'd be practically the same experience as a 64 player server kind of).

Here's what I want in BF3 (from BF2):

1. Tone down grenades on infantry servers - There was too much nade spamming on those servers usually - Nades were just too effective on infantry only servers (which I play from time to time to "level grind").

2. Balance the stat point accumulation across all classes. A medic could easily get points by spamming med packs and/or reviving. While an engineer had to repair an asset or a vehicle all the way to 100% just to get a whole "one" point.

Now I know Engineers can repair while inside vehicles but they should simply increase the "on-foot" point gain of engineers to 4x the amount it was in BF2. Inside the vehicle should be the same.

Since stat grinding was a major part of BF2, All classes should gain points at a similar rate in BF3.

As long as it's not a clone of CoD and it goes back to a lot of its BF2 roots I'll definitely keep an eye on this to play it. BF2 was awesome.

Didn't they nerf the points medics got for healing at some point? I don't remember because it was so long ago, maybe it wasn't enough of a nerf.

The teaser trailer is up.

Bah, teaser indeed

I hope it sticks to the battlefield 2 style of good arcade fun. So many memories I have from clan wars of BF2 back when i was in high school. Waking up at 8am to play in the World Tournament and verse americans with 250 ping and win was an amazing experience, demolishing the teams full of older gamers (who treated the game as a tactical simulator) with mass C4 throwing and organised squad hopping. The movement in BC2 was far too restrictive for me, 2142 was a decent comprimise i suppose. And now i just remembered the horrible netcode and bullet rego it had. Memories.

Yep.. I agree completely. The movement and hit registration feels so clumsy and off in BC2.. It's a real shame when an old game like CS 1.6 has snappier controls and netcode.

I dunno. I really hope they pull off BF3 well because I love Battlefield. BC2/Frostbite is nice for the destructible environments but I hated almost everything else about it.

I think they need some really good maps and/or accessible modding tools... I think another large part of the problem with I had with BC2 was there was only 2-3 good maps and they were played to death.

In the age of DLC.. I don't like our chances.

If you find a good server the hitreg feels perfect, and I've played alot of CS/Cod4. The problem is that anything that says you have over 50 ping in the browser is actually unplayable once you get into the server.

And both of us who complained about reg both live in australia where ping can be an issue, especially for me (West Aussie) who often has to play on eastern aus servers.

And to floor exercise, yeah DICE allllllllways has been shit, and I agreed with your point that netcode for BF2/large fps with vehicles would be hard. But the problem is that DICE is a really lazy developer that suffers in QA badly. Remember the 1.3 patch for BF2? Servers would crash frequently, and they didnt even hotfix it for months! BF games are full of rough corners unfortunately.

Just hoping hit registry is fixed, pubs are rebalanced by SKILL not NUMBER, Baseraping is not viable or more difficult (bases are harder to contain) and every gun can fire 200meters outclassing snipers.

Also prone. Thx.

Looking so much forward to this.

I so enjoyed the old rush-conquest maps where one team didn't have a dedicated spawn and had to constantly keep control of one base, but started out with superior position.

Huge maps with up to 64 players were also fucking great, and the sheer amount of people always around made it extremely hard for a single player to ever really dominate hard, which is often problematic. Same goes for mapsize in relation to vehicle strength.

Combining everything that made previous BF games awesome with destructible environments and proper stattracking would just be a huge leap forwards in the FPS genre, which is desperately needs with the amount of mainstream arcade styled crap there is out there.

I'm really curious why they're giving only the PC players something special. I'm happy don't get me wrong, but EA usually just loves the console gamers more. Also with the 49.99 price tag, I was shocked to see this from a "high profile" title. I can't wait to get my hands on this game, still a little iffy but still excited.
Had an idea that combines the intimate moment of delivering babies with Crazy Taxi last night. Can emotional arcade style gaming work?

My buddies and I used to go to a LAN center and play the fuck out of BF2. We'd get a chopper and play air cav, hopping from flag to flag and hosing the enemy down. Good times...

I hope BF3 can create the same excitement in me.

Withholding judgment until a beta/demo comes out. I was hardly impressed with weapon balance (fucking Carl Gustav) and the way they fouled up the funnel-like Rush mode design.

Good stuff Fruscainte, though I'm kinda curious why you decided to put speculation alongside the confirmed stuff in your post. Anyway, here's a couple things you missed:
-Dropshotting and Dolphin Diving to prone will not work
-There will be spotting included in some form
-There will not be tracer darts, zip lines, or grappling hooks
-There will be bullet drop
-There will be 4 classes
-Kill cams optional, defaults to on
-Friendly fire optional, defaults to off
-Mod tools will not be released at launch, and possibly never
It's easier not to.

It was a copy paste, probably could have edited that out but meh.

Also, they said Bullet Lead + Drop will be FAR more severe than in BC2.
