I really hope this game can top Morrowind - sure Oblivion was great but it can't compare. Morrowind had so many hours of gameplay - I played the game for over a year and never beat it, I believe I read somewhere 400 hours of gameplay, and that's just awesome, considering almost 100% of that was all really fun. It sounds like they've been making a combat system that doesn't suck - as well as a massive game.

I really can't wait.

Well, Elder Scrolls has always been one of the very best franchises of all time, and I don't think Skyrim will dissappoint. It's kinda hard to realise that it's only about 4 months left until release as well.

Hype!

May sound a bit strange, but im AT LEAST equally excited about the development tools as i am about the game itself. Bethesdas creation kits (TES kit, GECK) have been so powerful tools to mess with in the past, and i hope they will be releasing them for Skyrim aswell (havent confirmed this from anywhere yet). From single player adventures to all kind of modifications to the exact game, there are just no limits.

Ive propably played Oblivion around 200 hours, and messed around with the tools for like a 1000 more.

Yeah including user-made content there will probably be at least 600-700 hours of awesome fun play!

soooo worth 60$ or whatever.

Ok. Question. PC or 360 for the game? I have an HDTV and think my comp should be able to run skyrim at full tilt but am not sure. I know my 360 will run it in HD. I understand i can put the PC onto my TV for my monitor. Just yeah....opinions on strengths and weakness on the two?

Get it for PC if you are sure your pc can handle it really well

I would definitely go with the PC as long as you know your comp can run it. Bethesda games have always had goofy bugs or quest problems that only console commands can fix. And every one of their games has also accumulated an extensive library of awesome mods that you can only use with the pc version, so assuming Bethesda is releasing a modding toolset for skyrim similar to previous elder scrolls and fallout games, that would easily put the PC version over the top.

Also, i have no console, so i am not sure about that, but is it not impossible to mod or use user maps on consoles generally? In that case, as long as your computer runs it i would highly recommend using your Pc.

Elder Scrolls games are completely expanded upon with mods and you can add 100s of hours of game play with them alone. That is the main reason I would avoid a console version.

People to this day are still adding creatures, areas, dungeons, playable races, quests, graphics improvements and story elements to both Oblivion and Morrowind. (Mods cannot be put on console games.)

Utility-wise yeah pc is probably the best choice.
but there is one reason to get console: if you have a big-ass HDTV and like sitting on a couch for the full theatric experience for such a beautiful game

Do we have the specs yet for the game? I appreciate the replies btw. I'm pretty sure my comp could run it on High at the very least. Considering it can run cataclysm on Ultra with no lag at all(don't play WoW anymore it's just the only full game i can think of that might have comparable graphics requirements).

EDIT: I'm also hoping the change to combat and how archery works will keep me involved in the game. I just had such a hard time with combat when i had to fight that it took me out of the stories and i never actually finished Oblivion. Prob by most standards never even put a dent into the game.

I vote PC, for the reasons stated above.

On a personal note; the biggest thing I want out of the new TES game is greater variety in the base weapons. If you think about it, and especially in oblivion, the variety of base weapons have been really disproportionately small - compared to the expansive variety built into the environment, magics, and etc. Enchantments have always seemed like an artificial extension that don't really add depth (more like just attacking and casting a spell at the same time).

Oblivion had, what; 10 grades of weapons? And they only indicated marginally differing damage to weight ratios? The only mechanical difference was silver weapons (and maybe daedric?) doing damage to certain enemies otherwise immune (if I remember correctly). If that's untrue, then it certainly felt that way to me. I think there's definitely room for improvement there.

IMO the whole development of Skyrim is worth it just for that trailer. Now that is an epic trailer.

Uh oh it's out in 4 months? I'd better finish this thesis before then...

Probably not the best place to ask this, but does anyone know if it's worth waiting a few months to start building a pc for this? Is there anything specific coming out in the next few months that will lower prices or would you expect things to stay mostly the same?

Not that I know off. At least, not for companies I buy from.

Edit: I do know that newegg is having some pretty good sales right now, thought (and usually do throughout the summer.) So, if you're trying to build a system, now might be the time to shop.

Well, AMD's new processor line (Bulldozer) is supposed to be coming out soon, but the details on the release date are sketchy and constantly changing. This will most likely cause Intel's Sandy Bridge CPUs to drop in price as they'll be competing against each other, and give us all good deals on high end CPUs.

I haven't looked up the details on it in a while, so if I'm mistaken someone feel free to correct me.

Like most of the ppl have replied, PC. Why? Because of all the user-made content / mods that will extend your playtime to.. Infinity. Can't get those on consoles.

I just watched the E3 game play trailer for skyrim and I think I'm going to take a few weeks off of life when this comes out.
