I'm playing the pc version and I'm getting completely mad about this bug with assigning weapons/spells to certain hands. I CAN'T assign a spell to my right hand (left click) and I CAN'T unassign a weapon once it's in my right hand. This is just completely driving me insane because i can't easily switch between dual wielding a spell, wielding 2 spells and wielding weapon+spell. In addition to this there seems to be another bug(not sure) where using my left hand spell suddenly jerks my vision to right. For example i'm walking and shooting a firebolt with the left hand will instantly cause my character to jerk to the right.
Both bugs combined make it insanely hard for me to play well as I can't aim spells well and can't switch between spells I want easily. Can anyone please PM me if they are having these bugs either or even better, if they know a solution or workaround to them?
I really want to know if these are known bugs and if they can be overcome,
Both are known, the first one can be resolved by favoriting the spells to your list and selecting/hotkeying it from there.
Fiddling around with hotkeys and favorites can solve the problem a little bit for me but still not to my satisfaction. I try to use a large selection of spells and when something assigns wrong or whatever it is just driving me crazy. I was playing as a battle mage so far skilling in one handed, destruction and restoration but it's just so damn annoying switching between double wielding a spell (for long range) to wielding a sword + spell (for short range). I'm switching to shield + spells at the moment (waste of perks i know but block tree is just way cooler then one handed tree where every perk just adds some percentage basically).
As for the second bug, the sudden jerk to the right, is that a known bug too? It's by far the most frustating of the two and I already had to turn my difficulty down a little because it was just so hard to aim well because of it. Are there any workarounds to it? I've noticed that casting with the right hand doesn't have it while casting with left does. I must have fallen to my death at least 5 times already because of that bug...

what worked for me was finding a merchant that was also a trainer. (i used the woman selling leather stuff in riften) just train a few times and sell your stuff.

If you own the house in Whiterun, Lydia should be upstairs in your bedroom, sitting by the table behind the door.

If the dual wielding spell is the same as the spell you're using when you switch to sword + spell, it should just take 1 button to swap, and then 1 button to swap back.
This is how I play: 1 - flame 2 - shield 3 - axe 4 - bow 5 - summon
Ignoring the summon for this example: I'll start off with bow then after one or two arrows (because most monsters run fast!) I press 1, which switches me to flame + axe, and I flame them until I run out of magicka or they get to close, which is when I press 2, and that switches me to shield + axe. Makes combat feel way more fluid for me (for a while I knew about the Q list but not that you could assign numbers to it)
btw I'm playing on hardest difficulty, but I'm only level 7 so far

H ad a wierd bug the other day. Somewhere in the middle of a dungeon my damage incread by a lot, my 2h damage went from about 80 to 190, and never went down. I didn't notice right away since I already 1 shot most normal mobs, but then when I fought the boss I 2 shot him, then left the dungeon and got attacked by a bear which i 1 shot, then noticed my damage was 190. I looked thru my buffs and didn't have any unusual one on, went a bit longer, waited, to see if it would go back down but didn't. Then the game crashed, and my damabe was back down to about 80 even though I saved right before it crashed.

Ye but how to comfortably go to double wielding flame when you're on flame+axe? And how do you wield shield + spell with this? Also I would preferrably assign spells to my right hand (left click) because they are bugging on the left hand. That bug is driving me so mad that I almost broke my monitor already as I fell of a bridge because of it.
On a unrelated note: where do I find what parts of my body a certain piece of equipment covers? Some robes can be worn with headwear for example while others can't. there doesný seem to be any easy way to find out what matches of equipment you could make instead of just trying out each equipment. Ie. where cna i find how many i can equip at the same time and what place each item uses (ie necklace and amulet are the same spot etc.)

Probably, down $10 or something. I personally think that this of all games is one of the only ones that deserves the price. The amount of work put into the game is insane. Fork out and start enjoying right away dude

I don't dual spell, but it goes to double flame whenever I accidentally click 1 twice in a row (in which case I just press 3 to go back to what I want). I don't know of any difference between left and right =/ and I have yet to try shield + spell (which sounds like a fun combo actually)

@ therealpacifist,
yes i'm trying to switch to shield + spell instead of spell + sword because it seem's to have more synergy with the magic i'm using (restoration and destruction). Spells + 1 handed started to work really badly for me agianst the tough critters because spells want you to be as far away as possible while 1 handed requires you to be close (it was also a let down that wands were not affected by 1 handed and stink a bit in general). I guess with other magic then mine you can get close perhaps but not so much with destruction. Main reason though is simply that destruction, restoration and blocking seem the most fun perks to me. One and two handed perks are super boring (only improve stats basically) and alteration, illusion and conjuration are just boring magic to me (also with boring perks.). Destruction is most fun I think and restoration is also just great (with some fantastic perks like respite).
For the rest I'd wish I had done heavy armor instead of light and smithing instead of enchanting (enchanting stinks..) but that's not too bad. I always hate from RPG's that you find out halfway during playing how you should have assigned your perks/talents/skills from the start. At that time it's usually too late to change though. (I don't guess there is a tome of reassign perks?)
|
This should work: 1 - spell 2 - shield
When you're dual spelling but the enemy gets closer, press 2, and keep fighting, but now you have shield on. When you want to go back to dual spell, press 1, and it should switch correctly - at least, it does for me.
OH. WAIT. SHIT. Just realized, when I've been saying "dual spell" I mean to say "dual powered spell" as in the same spell in both hands. So how about I define... "dual spell" = two different spells, "buffed spell" = one spell in both hands. And now I'm not sure what it is you're trying to do, because I'm an idiot -.-
