The story, the universe, the details, the characters is what makes ME good. As long as they kept to their strengths, I don't really mind shortcomings in the gameplay. Also, they have friggin Clint Mansell composing the score! How can you not be excited for that. I agree. The story and presentation were so good that I didn't really care about anything else. ME2 was a great game.
Yeah, I love the story and presentation, the voice acting is amazing, the characters have real personalities and the interactions and history of each is tangible. I can't wait to see the homeworlds of each race. I've been writing a mass effect pencil and paper RPG for some time and can't finish it until I see the rest of the homeworlds. I also agree that I'm willing to sacrifice gameplay a little as long as they play to their strengths.
I'm personally hoping for a 6 disc game though :D

So it won't be exclusive to Origin? That is happening to battlefield 3, no?

Curse of modern PC games - Games for Windows Live, Steam and the soon-to-be Origin. Installing all this bloatware just to play a few games makes me regret I'm a PC gamer.
Anyway, I really wouldn't put too much though into that snippet from the game. I think the designers wanted it to feel epic, frantic, hectic and scary at the same time. Imagine being chased by a skyscraper while on a military vehicle. Wouldn't YOU want to fire at it or throw something at it, because it would make you feel better and make you feel like it's not gonna catch up? Maybe you can even tear off a steel plate or 2 if you're lucky. I'm pretty sure the fire is just cosmetic in every way. If you'll want you can just watch it chase you and not fire at all - provided no airborne divisions will try to ambush you.
I personally think we'll get ME2.1 instead of ME3. Sure there will be some differences, some extra features and choices build upon ME2's interface and battles, but nothing too game changing like ME1 -> ME2 changes. Which I really won't be bothered by. I'm just sticking with this one for the story and it's conclusion anyway. I have little faith after their DA titles.

I think it's definitely a possibility that as we draw closer to the release date EA might announce that ME3 will be Origin exclusive. It has certainly not been announced as a Steam title as of yet. Battlefield and Mass Effect are EA's flagships. They will want to use them as a hook for the hardcore crowd.

Nothing further to add, except that any gamer who has played BG can be listened to in a debate about RPGs, whereas those who haven't are worth listening to about as much as a paedophile who thinks that Lolicon is a very healthy interest.

a) BF3 is Origin only
b) MW3 will still not have dedicated servers
I will not be buying either, due to the above. Presumably I am not alone.

Metroid prime 2 had a multiplayer... It was so bad, it turned a fantastic single player game into something Im kind of sour about. I really hope Bioware doesnt make this mistake.

I have no idea what will happen T_T

The only way EA doesn't do the same thing with ME3 is, if BF3 underperforms due to its exclusivity to Origin. I really hope that happens, because it's a complete bullshit move.

I have a bad feeling about how are we supposed to kill the Repears... It took a fleet to kill one of them in ME1 There are dozens and dozens on them, if not more. There can't be enough fleets available. They might end up with the classical cheesy move where you infiltrate/attack one core thing/unit and, for some reason, it's enough to provoke a chain reaction that kills all the Repears.
I think it's going to be something along the lines of blowing up Earth's Mass Relay and destroying them that way. Most of the game will probably be you convincing the other races to help you evacuate Earth or maybe distract the Repears who are currently guarding the mass relay.
There might be some sort of alternative where you can also save the Earth...maybe luring them to another system then blowing up that relay. However that seems far less likely.
I highly doubt it will be "GRAWWWW WE HAVE SUPER SECRET LASER BEAM TO DESTROY REAPERS. ATTACH TO SHIPS. CHARGE AT ENTIRE FLETT. BWAHAHAHA EAT THAT REAPERS."

As long as Origin is as good as Steam (doesn't install or do anything shady ) I'm fine with.
I can see why they're doing this though (they'll save lots of extra $$$ without having to pay Valve every time).
Hmm so does Origin install anything shady? I did hear they'll apparently scan your computer with no opt out [is that true?] but what else is there?
Too bad the Sims 2 (plus "all the expansions") isn't on Steam or Origin ([Sims 2 is better than Sims 3 IMO >.>]).
+ Show Spoiler +The games aren't all that different (Sims 3 doesn't look much better than Sims 2 but Sims 3 does have the shared neighbor/lot thing which is neat) but in the Sims 2 you could have these bots (from open for business expansion) which could do things like water the garden, guard the house, feed your sims, clean up messes.
I used them with a mod that made it so the bots didn't break down so often and it makes the game a bit fun to have them all over the place doing everything for you.
Ooo I got nerd chills when SC2 had the Fire Suppression Bots (which puts out fires and repairs Terran structures) because they're similar to the bots in the Sims 2 Open for Business.
Also there are more mods for Sims 2 (ATM). But yeah mods and expansions in Sims 2 are better ATM than in Sims 3 [IMO].

I haven't kept up much with Mass Effect 3 as I was busy following DXHR Now I am replaying the ME series, is there only one main trailer for ME3? The clock-tower sniper one?

Awwww, I was hoping that we'd find the cannon that killed the derelict reaper and tore a massive canyon in the side of that planet.

wanna know that too. took me a long time to "trust" steam and avoided it like plague for years. im willing to finally upgrade from windows xp for bf3(a big AAA title without CODfuckery multiplayer? must have) but having to trust another weird platform and esp EA is a different story...
also if me3 is on steam i can buy it for tf2 items which is awesome ~~

Idk how anyone can not play ME3 after playing the first two. Don't you want, even NEED to know what happens? The story/characters are too interesting to abandon imo, someone previously mentioned that the plot in number 2 was a bit filler-ish. I'm inclined to agree (at least partly) but we can't know how important Cerb and the Collectors were until we see the end. Was still sick though. Plus it allowed for some interesting choices and character interactions working for 'the bad guys'.

I need to do. doesn't mean it's going to be ideal

So I read somewhere (maybe here) that ME3 will pull over 1000 variables from the previous two games, pumped for that

Anyone pre-ordered the Collector's Edition from GAME yet? It's ridiculous how expensive it is. £70 for a PC game! I can't even comprehend how the CE is over twice the price of the standard edition. It's so frigging ludicrous. I want to wait to see if the price drops, but I'm worried they might just sell out soon.
