C sucks for the player though it gives truth to what two games have built up, that Reapers are unstoppable. B People will be let down by an ending that wasn't an ending at all, despite it being plausible. A Don't forget to light the cigars AFTER the fat lady sings. You'll jinx the whole thing.
Either Reapers aren't as strong as described or their countless years of destroying better civilizations than this one continues with another culmination of the cycle. What would you rather have?
Obviously this is what will happen:
Major Star Ocean 3 Spoilers Warning (click if you don't care or already know) + Show Spoiler +
Turns out <insert character> has super special powers that were never mentioned before.
They go through a gate and find out they're video game characters! And the evil *Bobby Kotick is the person behind this. With their powers they managed to some how go to the real world, defeat Kotick (but not before he deletes the universe of ME) and win.
*Turns out Bobby Kotick was screwing around and made <insert really hard to destroy enemies> in the **Virtual Online MMORPG known to us as the Mass Effect games (yes a game inside a game). Little did he know that the programs were sentient all along and he was screwing with them!
**Basically the Mass Effect universe is like "The Sims" except in MMORPG format. The NPCs/Sims are actually sentient.
In the end (after defeating Kotick) they somehow find themselves back in the Mass Effect universe but not sure what exactly happened. The end! *Cue credits rolling*
[Yes this is basically what happened in Star Ocean 3. Nearly impossible enemy which can't be easily destroyed. They're video game characters. After they win, they somehow return to their universe and everything is back to normal]

Assuming the game is gonna be a mindless shooter based on a 5 minute segment is ridiculous.
footage looked like any random console shooter released in the last 3years.
but ofc evryone who judges the game based on this is stupid anyways ~~
i dont have too high hopes for me3. im not sure if i like the scenario and i wasnt too happy with their latest games. but me 1/2 were great games so lets see if they can make this right or really want to do a halo:mass effect
Well the combat looks like a pimped up version of ME2. If the rest at least stays on the same level as the predecessors we're in for a treat. Why would they turn this into halo or gears of war...? Makes no sense at all.
You know, when it comes to Mass Effect, the things I love most about it are the story and characters, thats what I'm interested in most.
If I want more hardcore RPG elements then I play Elder Scrolls or Baldurs Gate. I dont mind if ME3 doesnt have customizable gear or if the combat is Halo esque. The Halo series are fun games afterall.

I agree with this. I am kind of scared of the direction Bioware is taking though, after playing through Dragon Age 2. Simplifying is not always dumb-ing down the game, as ME2 showed imo, but Dragon Age 2 was just horrible.
I *loved* ME1 and thoroughly enjoyed ME2. I admit I'm worried about ME3 from what I've seen. I loved the first two for the RPG elements and characters, and the fun combat/abilities were just icing on the cake.
If I want to run around and murder hordes of aliens with no decisions/plot, I'll go play halo, (or SPESHH MARREEN which I'm also crazy psyched for). But that's now what Mass Effect is supposed to be! Imo at least, T_T

I think the biggest letdown (having playing ME1 for around 100 hours, and ME2 for half that) was the older characters were only semi important. I mean, i get it, but ME2 really felt like a total side game. Not an integral part of a trilogy. Seems to me the writers just wanted to + Show Spoiler +
kill sherpard and bring him back, because how does that happen? /orignal idea
.
I do think (atleast from what they've said) they will really really focus-in on the major characters as exablished in the first game, and on fewer characters, to have a more indepth story. I really don't want any of the characters they mentioned to die. Please no. Maybe injured and not there any more, but seriously, i would be so sad.
Anyways, where was I? Oh right. Since ME2 was a bit more fun (imo) to play as far as combat is concerned, i think that it will be the better of the 3 games if they can continue on to the main story arc. I WANT MORE TIMED MAIN STORY MISSIONS!
I won't judge it til I see it. I don't mind the faster combat- in fact, I like to see evolution in a series (if I want to play ME1, I'll play ME1.)
What I'm really hoping for though is some kind of change to the powers system. Biotics were overpowered in ME1, but they were practically useless in ME2 on higher difficulties. I feel like having all your powers tied to one cool down really cheapens the utility aspect of the game, since you'll almost always be using Warp/Overload/Incinerate on cooldown. Not to mention crowd control abilities like throw/push/singularity are made useless at the time where they are needed most- the start of the fight- thanks to biotics being useless until all barriers are down.
Its fun to mess with powers on easy, but on higher difficulties you pretty much only use Miranda+whoever has warp/incinerate or overload, depending on the level. I'd really like to see more utility come in to play, like say using pull to CC a dangerous mob for a few seconds, or a return of sabotage to decrease an enemies damage. As it stands now, if you're playing seriously you'll save every single cooldown for a pure damage ability. I don't necessarily think they should go back to ME1 style where you can spam every single cooldown in 5 seconds and own an entire army, but I would like to see a happy medium.

Dunno what you're talking about. Singularity and throw are like my two favorite abilities in ME2. Insanity mode is impossible without making good use of biotic/tech powers.
I hope ME3 will not have ME2's shared cooldowns. They could just go the way of ME1 and then introduce a short global cooldown to prevent excessive use of abilities.

Completely disagree. I think ME2 on Insanity has some of the best combat of any game of its kind. If you're spamming Warp you're doing it wrong. This video is a good example of playing an Adept.
I'm so excited for ME3, it's been confirmed that you get to go to a bunch of the homeworlds in this one (Earth, Thessia, Palaven, Rannoch, Sur'kesh)!
Overall difficulty is going up for each difficulty level, combat speed is going up, yay shepard being mobile, better enemy AI, grenades are back, and you can pick up enemy weapons after you kill them.

Weapon modification is also back. It all sounds good on paper, but we'll just have to wait and see. I just pray that they haven't further watered down the RPG elements. I really don't want to play a TPS masquerading as an RPG hybrid. Oh, AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD remove those awful 'Mission Summary' reports that pop up at the end of each mission. Totally unnecessary and breaks the immersion.

Hard to tell from such a short snippet, but yeah, the gameplay doesn't look revolutionary or really that inspiring, but the ME series was never really about that (despite their best efforts in ME2). The story, the universe, the details, the characters is what makes ME good. As long as they kept to their strengths, I don't really mind shortcomings in the gameplay. Also, they have friggin Clint Mansell composing the score! How can you not be excited for that.
I agree. The story and presentation were so good that I didn't really care about anything else. ME2 was a great game.

He's completely wrong, but you're not quite right either; Soldiers can ignore their squadmates completely and AR spam their way to victory. It's certainly not the most efficient way to play, but it works.

I thought it was even easier as an infiltrator with assassination cloak and sniper rifles, I never really even got hit by anything.
