When I published my GOAT list in 2024, I mentioned in my extended rankings that herO had the most upward mobility of any player ranked 11-15. With the final of Season 2 of Code S only a few days and herO poised to make a run at the top 10 All Time Rankings, I thought it would be worth mentioning some of the records herO has already tied/set/broken this year, as well as those he can tie/set/break by winning Season 2.
Already Accomplished
First person to win Code S over the age of 30.
First military returnee to win Code S (2022 Season 2 and 2025 Season 1).
Second person to win a Korean Individual League 10 years apart (SSL Season 3 in 2015-Code S Season 1 2025).
First Protoss to win Code S in 5 years (the previous being Stats in 2017 Season 1).
With a Win in Code S Season 2
Would become the third player to win back to back seasons of Code S (Nestea in 2011 May/July and Maru in 2018 Season 1/2).
Would tie INnoVation, Rogue and Dark for the second most Korean Individual League wins of all time (4)
Would tie INnoVation, Dark and Mvp for the third most Code S wins of all time (3).
Would tie INnoVation for fifth most Korean Individual League/World Championship final appearances (excluding WESG) (5) behind Rogue/Zest (7), soO (8), Dark (9) and Maru (16).
First Protoss to win Code S twice in one year.
Feel free to mention any that I might have missed and I hope this season's final will be one to remember.

First Protoss to win Code S twice in one year. This is so sad but so true. Trap had his chance in 2019 but unfortunately he had to deal with the most broken patch ever.

that would be cool but i just don't see it. who remembers Rogues mystical run where he was basically doing nothing then qualified for that big end of year tournament (I want to say Katowice?) I remember it somewhat he needed a literal miracle where he didnt have anywhere near enough points unless he won 2 tournaments (or something like that) back to back and he did it. This dude is primetime and I feel like it's his season.

Either way I hope Rogue or Gumiho win it since they dont have EWC Qualification yet. But I think Gumiho will get another chance in the Global Qualifiers and Rogue wont if I am correct.

Also, Rogue said in his interview that he actually wanted to face herO (at least according to GSL's live translation I can not verify accuracy because iirc he did also say he doesnt want to play protoss) so idk man... i just feel like the stars may be aligning once again.

CALLED IT! What an incredible run it has been so far. Rogue form hasnt been looking the best lately so making it to the finals (as his last chance to qualify EWC) was extremely unlikely. but i had faith. I didnt see a single other person predict this i am so happy right now. i check his account DAILY to see how his practice games went who else is doing that?

if rogue wins, that is his 5th and would earn G5L, but do they have another trophy ready?

I don't think so because Maru has accomplished the record before.

The only reason Maru has the G5L trophy is because they made it for Mvp back in 2012.

Thanks for the birthday wishes . I had any amazing time in Korea and I'm so grateful to have been able to attend GSL and interview/meet a lot of really great people. I'll be writing something about the experience, whether it's an article or blog I'm not sure, but it will be a joy to recount everything.

I would add
With a Win in Code S Season 2 Second person to win all GSL in a year (Maru in 2018).
First Protoss to win all GSL in a year.
Which would be pretty cool
