Yeah, it was part of the 30 for 30 thing. Petrovic was an absolute sniper...as good a shooter as Miller or Allen without question.

manly tears were shed. must see film.

any news from iverson? lol

so anthony goes to the knicks...and walsh will leave after dolan made a fool out of him...all in all shitty for the NYK
|
Damn, it seems like the Nuggets got like three of the Knicks' starting five.
|
Damn knicks with melo and amare...if the chemistry is there thats a dangerous front court.

not at all. Good job Knicks - gut your team just like that. Not even making it to the ECF.

I felt like they definitely overpaid for him a little... I mean chances are you can get him for free when free agency rolls around next year since I didn't think anthony would actually agree to sign an extension with the nets.
Amazing job by the nets to put the pressure up on the knicks. Honestly Denver made out like bandits considering that anthony was 100% certain to leave them in the off season and they received a nice package of players/picks in return.

I'm not sure what to think about this trade, as a New Yorker. I liked the younger guys: Gallon felton and chandler

The person that made out like a bandit was Melo. Got to where he wanted to be, without it costing him the $40-50 million he could potentially have lost if he went to free agency with the new CBA looming.

I liked Felton but MELOOOOOOOOOOOO
|
As a Rockets fan, I hope the knicks gutted their roster enough for melo to have the knicks end up with a lottery pick in the draft.

O-M-G I can't wait to see how this trade comes out. It will either be option A: Carmelo and Amare will dominate like crazy B: Carmelo and Amare will dominate individually but Knicks will be troubled by the fact that their two great starters can't share the ball C: Carmelo and Amare will work great but not enough to make it in to playoffs D: Carmelo will overshadow Amare E: Amare will overshadow Carmelo F: Knicks who?

This is an awful trade for the Knicks. Dolan is for sure banking on CP3. I like Balkman but the rest are scrubs. Felton stats are really padded this year because of NY's system but Gallo + Chandler both have lots of potential, it just sucks they play the same position. Anthony Randolph/Shawne Williams will get minutes now.

i would be pissed as hell.
NY 6th in standings thanks to a GREAT roster ... i mean compared to the names you hear on boston, miami, orlando ... NY roster pulled some great games together and is [was] one of the most exciting teams to watch in the east.
while its true, you've got billups, amare, and melo on the starting lineup now .... but this move was a big fuck-you to those players and all the work they did. just to get melo.
like what ppl were saying with deron and sloan ... the league is truly fucked up ... players have more sway than ever and its a poison to the sport.

Knicks had no choice, Melo was gonna get $65 either way. Still, how can you say the Knicks overpaid when the players they are giving up are going to be marginal at best? They can replace those guys easily during the offseason

The Knicks are also shipping Anthony Randolph to the wolves.

Wow they sure gave up a shit-ton of picks for Melo. I'm not sure I like this at all for them unless they manage to get CP3 next season. It seems the Knicks are in a constant state of tanking a season and banking on somehow turning it around "next season".

no they cant. Replacing that much production is going to be ridiculously difficult.
First of all Raymond Felton was a legit starting point guard. Padded stats for sure but he was an awesome defender and we know he was great in Charlotte. He also was a good 3pt shooter - a big hole in the new roster mind you.
The problem with this trade is that the Knicks got gutted in several major ways which I have been breaking down to various people over the last few hours.
1.) The Knicks while being a 6th seed with this roster had a lot going for it - a #1 option, a solid #2 in Felton or Gallo, a bench and a major steal in Landry Fields. People forget that this Knicks team was brand spanking new playing their first year together. They weren't a title contender but why gut the chemistry and success they were having?
2.) The Knicks have no bench. Nothing. No dominant 3 pt shooting. Gone. When Raymond Felton started to wear down in January it was because he was logging 40 minutes per game. The Knicks have no back up Point Guard because Toney Douglass is a shooting guard. The Knicks bench used to get slaughtered. Now?
3.) Chauncey Billups isn't better than Raymond Felton. Unfortunately Denver was already ranked #1 offensive by PPG in the league and were still 7th in the West. They are going to get killed in the East. And THAT Denver team had a ton of scorers and played little defense. What the hell do you think is going to happen here?
4.) Denver got a ton of young talent, draft picks, saved $$ and now instead of taking 3 years to rebuild can do it in one. The Knicks got Melo, Billups, Balkman, Shelden Williams and Corey Brewer from Minnesota. I think we all know who got the bad end of the deal here.
5.) The Knicks could have waited it out until the end of the season. Even if they do not get Melo (doubt it) - they still have a good team, cap space and FAs would want to play there. Really the Knicks while being a .500 team were on the way up as they could only get better. How much better was a big question but this trade set them back. Big time.
6.) There are only 3 players in the league I'd give up all those guys for, and maybe 2 more depending on what else comes with it: Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Lebron James. That's it. Those 3 are all offensive juggernauts that are elite wing defenders while also being excellent rebounders and passers. Carmelo Anthony is probably the best scorer in the league, especially in ISO situations. Unfortunately that is pretty much where his value stops.
7.) Saw this on a report: The Knicks gave up 55.5 points per game and brought in 49.5 points per game. The numbers arent exact because this is from memory but you get the point - not only are they already a bad defensive team (20th in the league) but they are now 6 points per game worse offensively. While I highly doubt this will hold true it does make you question why they gave up so many pieces.
8.) Boston, Miami and Chicago are all still miles better. Even if Chris Paul, Deron Williams or Dwight Howard wanted to play in New York in 2012 the system this team runs is going to get them murdered.
This trade was definitely one of the worst trades ever.

idk i'd be pretty happy if CP3 came, so happy I'd forgive Dolan for everything. I agree with everything especially the worse defense part which tilts me so hard. But signing Carmelo at the end of the season was probably not an option cuz it seemed like it was either NY or NJ before the trade deadline. Toney Douglas is a pg but he just has awareness issues.
