The mods there are all stable. Never had problems with any of these. As a beginner the Fixpack and widescreen mod from gibberlings is basically enough to play through the game without missing out on anything. I actually have the enhanced edition but I still prefer the original game with basic mods like tweakpack/fixpack. The only reason to play Enhanced when you already have the original game would be the new NPCs but I didn't really enjoy them that much. Some other advanced mods can cause problems. I'd not recommend Big World Project to beginners (or anyone for that matter) for example. Not worth the trouble. Hehe, my first experience with BG mods is BWP and it took me 3 days (or 3 afternoons) to make it work finally and that is only with recommended mods. After that experience I didn't need much talking into to buy BG1EE BG2EE is currently overpriced in my opinion but BG1EE was worth it. Honestly BWP is not worth the effort unless you're really desperate for new content. And if you're desperate for new content, you could pick up BG+BG2 for the same cost of an Enhanced Edition and have money to spare for PS:T or IWD if you're still in the Infinity Engine mood.
Really, IE mods are super easy as long as you stick to the basics and don't start mishmashing things that might have compatability issues. Most of the custom content mods tend to be pretty shit anyway.

According to a post of Nov 22nd the project is still active, but progressing slowly. Trailer and some other videos of the mod are available here:

Can you expand on this? He didn't use any codes and didn't use a third party program to change the game. So how did he cheat?

I haven't watched it but I assume he's talking about using exploits, which part of speedruns. Gaming the game, yo.
|
Yeah, if you took out glitches, exploits and so forth you'd probably disqualify 95%+ of SDA lol

He didn't use any codes and didn't use a third party program to change the game. So how did he cheat? He had a gem in his inventory that gave him almost infinite money, so he could buy whatever items he needed. This i would consider cheating and not a glitch or exploits.

Feels like he just found the most exploits not like he was the fastest or most skilled. The way he speedruns through BG2 is just a series of bugabuse for infinite money and glitching and teleporting through blocked doors and portals
Most speedruns still require a lot of skill. This BG2-run seemed kinda lame. Props for finding all exploits I guess

opinions about glitches vary, I love the speedrun espeically in context of previous speedruns of BG2. the runs went from 80 minutes to 45 minutes to now 23 minutes. most time saving comes from cutscene breaking. also remarkable: in this run he uses a party; in the older runs it was a solo sorcerer.
+ Show Spoiler + in the previous speedrun, they found out that you dont have to go to spellkeep when you talk to a certain pirate. ok, so big timesaving there. but in this speedrun he does go to spellkeep cause why not, lol, he found an even shorter way.
in the previous run they found out that you can pass the dragon in sulladessenar by emptiying your inventory before meeting him, then offering everything you have to him for his questcup. nice, easy, elegant. in this run he just kills him with a (lucky) dry spell, lol
only in this run, he found out how to skip the cutscenes, by fucking up his party arrangment before triggering them.
he found a way to have partymembers in different maps at the same time (in the thief district).
in the previous run they used shapechange into mindflayers to drain intelligence from opponents to 0 to kill them. this also works on Irenicus. in the new run he shapechanges Yoshimo into an irongolem and backstabkills Irenicus.

Thanks for all the suggestions on how to take on the elder brain as I was able to it with only 2 party members lost Luckly I had revive spells on both Anomen and Jaheira so I was able to revive my dead members and now I got The Equalizer Weapon :D Thank you guys again and I thinking of doing a run through with a Fighter Mage when I get done with Baldur's Gate 1 and importing it to Baldur's Gate 2 is it worth doing that? Edit: It's a Multi Class now a Dual Class that I plan on doing.

In BG2 you cannot get books that increase your attributes so imported character will be more powerful. Also some iconic items from BG1 also get imported into BG2 like Helm of Balduran (but you don't start with them, they only get added to certain places to be found again)

Also, you can get the Big Metal Unit if you import a character from BG1->BG2->ToB.

Right click if we're talking about the tomes that add stats. Or put it in the quick bar and click it.
Cant' remember.

They're consumable items and work exactly the same way potions do.

The stat boosts are permanent. The books are used like potions and are gone after a single use.
