dragons are mostly bored of sitting in their lair all day. they want you to put up a fight and they also think they are unbeatable

The best way is the "why are you laying all these traps at my feet?" way. Dragon goes hostile, traps go off, dragon goes away.

It really is cheesy to do it that way. Especially given how not terribly hard it is to fight those dragons in a straight up battle. You need so much more in terms of resources to beat those spell caster liches than the dragons. Well maybe that's because I always end up bringing too many fighters and barbarians =) The liches eat my parties alive without serious preparation (or some extra leveling), while I can usually beat the dragons without too much fuss. Thanks, Minsc!

I cannot remember the name of the potions, but there are a few that you can get early that allow you to send a single fighter in to solo a lich. Potion of magic blocking? The one that makes you completely immune to magic for 5-10 minutes (long enough for the lich's buffs to expire).

Is it necessary to play the first one, or am I ok to just get Baldur's Gate II (kinda poor atm lol)

You may not catch a few small references but nothing to worry about.

i just hate anything that my fighters cant hit. so dragons are ok for me, liches not so much

Not at all necessary to play the first one, and the second is generally considered to be the better game. Still, I'd recommend playing the first game first...it's not too expensive (at least, if you aren't getting the EE, which really doesn't add much if you're willing to go through the process of modding).

Sounds like you need your mages to learn Breach
There's also an NPC Inquisitor, Keldorn, that you might want to add to your party to help. Inquisitors get a Dispel Magic that casts at twice their level, so it's basically guaranteed to remove all magical protections.

The Sword Coast Stratagems mod fixes most of these issues, in case anyone feels like trying it. It makes some fights really tough.

an easy way of killing strong mages is to get in their range to trigger their spells then run away. wait until their defense spells wear off, trigger them again until he cant cast them anymore and wait. send in minions to trigger his nuke spells. in the end you will have a 50 hp guy with no spell protection attacking you with his bare hands
hm, should i play this awesome game again or Gothic 2 for the first time, difficult :/

hm, should i play this awesome game again or Gothic 2 for the first time, difficult :/ Lol. Why? Sounds like the most boring thing ever. Better to run in, destroy his defensive spells with your own and hack him to pieces. Or break his spellcasting with sure to hit attacks or spells and kill him easy.

The by far easiest and „noobproofest“ way that requires no skill whatsoever:
Have an Assassin with Poison-Weapon attack the mage (if he hits, that basically was it for spellcasting). Assassins in general are considered a pretty bad class BUT they really shine here. I played one as my HC in one of my first parties… I was in for a hard awakening the next time i didn’t have one, suddenly all these pushover mages can actually hurt you bad if your unlucky/don’t get a saving throw. Or some dude with many attacks and an elemental-dmg weapon just hitting him.

So… I just started a new run and because it’s a while since I really played the whole thing and Ascension awaits i built party that should have absolutely no problems whatsoever in SoA ( imp. Abazigal in Tob still gives me nightmares from my last encounter, let alone the last boss(es s s s s s s,) I went with this):
HC: Fighter/Cleric (Flail/Mace/Hammer)… Target atm is the Flail of Ages and that Mace from the temple district sewers.
Fade : Downloadable Thief NPC (changed her to Swashbuckler, not sure about weapons yet… I guess i try Scimitar + Shortsword for Belm + Kundane (+2 Attacks/Round) or just go for good old Katana/Short Sword with Godly Rage and Sword of Mask). Tryed to make her into a Kensai/Thief but Shadowkeeper went all weirdo and i didn’t feel like investing time into it, so i went for the imho best thief class (as soon as she gets use any item she should become pretty much a Warrior (less offensive but better AC).
Saerlith: Downloadable Paladin NPC with some Kit (not inquisitor, cavalier?), changed her to 2h-Sword and Halberds.. Carsomyr, Silversword, The „Wave“ or whatever the halberd is called).
Tashia: Downloadable NPC-Witch… Changed nothing. (These NPC’s are strong but imho none is really overpowered, Fade and Saerlith have some nice immunities but thats basically it, for Tob i might add another NPC (pure Fighter or Fighter/Mage)
I allready have the Gold. It’s ridiculous how easy this is to get… I just directly went to the Temple district to grab saerlith, then to Trademeet to get Tashia, killed the Djinns and after selling unneeded stuff i allready had the Gold and went to Aran and took Fade with me. I haven’t done a single quest yet (well, the Djinns but thats hardly a quest), not even the Circus. My „Plan“ atm is: Kill the Group in the Temple-Sewers for the Mace (not interested in Hidden Eye yet, the small beholders annoy me too much) + freeing Haer’Dalis to later go to the planetary prison --> Trademeet stuff (for Belm) --> Nalias Castle for Flail of Ages --> Outherdimensional Prison (Kundane and iirc some strenght gloves?).
Any Ideas?
Btw: Where do i get the Key for the hidden Door in the Temple Sewers? The one with the Mindstealers and the +3 Hammer at the end?

I bumping because right now I trying to fight Sendai in Throne of Bhaal and I got rid of the 1st cleric statue she made of herelf. What is the best way to fight her 2nd mage statue because I seem to fall apart on her 2nd mage way more then not :| Assuming my party from the last 4 pages had leveled a lot.
|
Never mind I found a fay to get another quick save in the middle of the battle and did a rest to get my spells back and just went balls deep with my meleers once i killed all the drow .

You get that from Tazok in the Windspear Hills dungeon, near the end.
