well wasted pretty much my entire week with it. game is still so fucking amazing. also now that i actually get the rules opposed to my childme that had zero clue of em its even better. plus enjoy eng version over ger one.
dont we have some really rich kid here that wants to invest in a game like that? i mean there are tons of great artists and writers out there that could do the important stuff, get a engine fit for a iso style game and license pathfinder ruleset from paizo (cause 4+ edition d&d is baaad for what we want).
+1000 for everything you wrote! I got the BG2:EE last week and since then I am totally captured by the amazing game. Even though I don't really enjoy the new NPC's, I totally love the EE. It makes things a lot easier, stacking arrow, nice touch to the interface,... . I am loving it! you can even play it with friends online it works very well.
this game is still epic because of the storyline imo.

Well I bumping this because I finished doing a solo Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition using a Ranger Cleric multiclass and I was surprised that no one here or on the baldur's gate fourms talk about doing this class for solo running is there a reason why? I feel it's a really good solo class because you got both Druid and Cleric Spells with lots of buffs to use and summons to help tank and they scale really well into Throne of Bhaal due to the cleric ring you get and the your level 1-3 priest spells stack up due to your classes having 1-3 spells together for leveling up making plenty of Armor of Faith slots for you to use for tanking.

I always played with a ton of difficulty mods and the hardest difficulty setting, to maintain a challenge. Seems a bit of a waste to play without a party :\

I just wanna leave the link for people loving BG2 (again). If anything, pillars of eternity captures the same feel on screenshots

Alright I bumping this because I going to start my solo run of BG2EE using my character from BG1EE which got 19 str 19 dex 19 con 11 int 21 wisdom and 7 charisma at level 7 Cleric/ level 7 Ranger with capped XP from BG1EE. Any tips for SoA and ToB for what Weapons/Armor to use and what to have for the ranger bonus? Thanks!

In Bg2, it is much more useful to dual a ranger into a cleric at level 7 or level 9. This way, you get ranger thaco which is akin to warrior thaco without the masteries, and your spellbook is open to druid spells which I consider better than cleric spells.
You will get the ultimate warrior-tank-spellcaster in this build.

Well... As a Cleric your weapon choices are limited anyway so its imho Flail/Mace/Hammer.
Flail of Ages is awesome (+3 in SoA up to iirc +5 or 6 in ToB, thanks to the elemental dmg it just cuts thru stoneskin and stuff like that), you even can get it early, there is also a very Handy "anti"-Undead Mace which you come across in Bodhis lair. Later in the game, if your soloing, you want to build Crom Fayer.
Ranger Bonus? You mean Arch-Enemy? In general there are many Vampires/Undead in BG2 but with a Cleric-Dual they shouldn't be a problem anyway. So your pretty much "free" to take whatever you imagine being troublesome.

Alrighty and yes that what I mean by Ranger Bonus and as I said it's a Multi Class Ranger Cleric since I thought you can't get Druid spells when you dual classed from Ranger to Cleric since I heard that from a friend of mine who I been playing with for fun. But Thanks for the advice!

I know for a fact that multi-class ranger/clerics get druid spells, never tried with a ranger -> cleric but I think they do too.
FoA +3 is definitely the general-purpose weapon to use. There's also the Defender of Easthaven, sold by a dude in the slaver inn in the Slums, that you should use in your off-hand.

There is also an easy to get mace in the canalisation under the temple district (from the hostile party in the north of the area). In Trademeet after solving the Djinns you can buy/steal a decent mace and iirca throwing hammer from one of the Traders in the south of the city.
Ranger --> Cleric afaik also gets Druid spells.
My "gripe" with a Ranger --> Cleric or Ranger/Cleric "SOLO" run is just that Fighter/Mage or Fighter/Mage/Thief is in general just plain better?
Btw: Ranger/Cleric is pretty "broken" in its own right. The main problem/weakness of druids is the huge amount of XP needed from lvl 12-14 (iirc), clerics don't have that poblem. So Ranger --> Clerics are basically in every way "better" Druids.

Well except for no shapeshifting. For BG2 run Ranger into Cleric dualclass is probably better if you dual class at least at lvl 9 or 11 but for Throne of Bhall you need that multiclass Ranger/Cleric as your Thaco will be too weak. With multiclass Thaco is always equal to level of the better fighting class (in this case ranger) and at ToB levels your ranger multiclass will be higher then your pure dual class cleric would be. With dual class you are stuck at Thaco of ranger level you decided to dual class until you other class managed to get its base Thaco higher (which is a very far away for a cleric). Fighting classes also get more attacks per round with higher levels while Clerics do not.
This is why normally when you dual class from fighting class into non fighting one you take Kensai. He can get 5 proficiency in single weapon at lvl 9 and he gets +3 to attack and damage at lvl 9 in a chosen weapon. Dual classing from Ranger gives weak bonuses for solo runs.

I just want to bump this to say I did finish my solo run becoming the new lord of murder :D The first two fights with Mellisan was not that hard but not that easy. The 3rd battle was a pain the ass since I summoned skeleton warriors with 1 deva for that battle and they sucked but luckily enough I got mellisan in a location where only her and 1 of her slayer helpers were able to do damage to me since I was using my flail of ages when my potion of haste got dispelled and used greater whirlwind attack.to end her there. The pool fight to get to her final battle I used 4 nymphs and 1 skeleton warrior and waited for the protection from magical weapons and killing the monsters that didn't like Fallen Solar who I had to kill asap since she does magic missile like damage. Once tthe protection from magical weapon was down I used my ice star that I gotten from one of the bhaalspwans and just used that since it did damage while trying to whack away the stoneskin. Once the battle with the monsters were killed I used the Helm of Valor and made a 2nd me for the final fight with summoning a deva and 4 fire elementals. Let's just say double greater whirlwind attack just to strong for the final battle :D.

Hey,
Was talking about BG2 the other day but i can't remember where you can find the cape that throw back spells. I thought it was in the prison (when you get imoen back) but apparently it's not.
The cape make a circle on the ground when you wear it.
Damn the last fight was hard in ToB

The name doesn't ring a bell. Might be different in French. I'll google it up. Thanks.

I always thought the main purpose of dualing (is that a word? ) ranger into cleric was getting 3 stars in two weapon fighting for free and access to druid spells. It's really powerful build for SoA but falls behind in ToB.
