There are 7 or 8 levels of runes. Just because some runes are common doesn't mean everybody will be walking around with a full set of the highest level ones for all their skills. I've read both 7 and 8 as the number so I'm not sure which it is ^_^

Gems, on the other hand, will be incredibly rare. It'll probably be a long time before anybody has a level 14 gem if they keep the system the way it is now.
Edit: For those who don't know, only the first 5 gem levels (chipped to perfect) can drop off monsters. Levels 6-14 have to be combined by an artisan. If it takes 3 gems to go up a level like Diablo 2, then that's 19,683 perfect (level 5) gems to make a lvl 14 gem. O.O

If that's true, then awesome. I hope there are plenty of rarities out there, since it doesn't seem like Runes will be that incredibly rare.

I don't think anybody can assert that anything will or will not be in the game yet. Anything could be changed between now and release seeing as the game isn't even in beta yet.
I know what phaseshift is now, yes I use that spell I didn't know that it also teleport the merc. I am using the Kurast merc, and he is pretty good.

Also, you have a pet companion that you can choose to fit your playstyle and also to deal with multiple immunities. But yes, if your idea of having fun is to charge in and mow everything down, then RoS (HC) might not be for you.
The problem with RoS is that most of the game is way to easy, and rather tedious. If all of the areas would be as hard as DANGER areas, and some harder then the game would be much better. As for HC I didn't want to play HC for the first with no idea how hard are special areas, also it suck to loose char because of all the filler content that you would have to play through again. Diablo 2 and its mods are build in a strange way, like 90%+ of the game was some work that you had to grind through before getting somewhere interesting, and it sounds like D3 will be done in the same manner.
btw. what is sensible STR for barb I don't want to put points there only to find out that best items have big -x% requirements. So far i pump almost only VIT with few points in STR.
with fairly good equip, you can stat vit only, and still reach about 140 dex and 160 str. Probably more Str, if you build for it, I was building for max +skills.
A very easy solution for a massive str boost is to gamble for a rare belt with +30 str and socket zod-um.
I hope you can put the same skill in several slots. Having Ray of Frost two times, once with the AoE effect and once with the finger of doom type thing would be cool.

Not that you are wrong or anything, but I wouldn't really think someone with 10 posts should be able to determine what is acceptable to post here. Your post is just as useless as theirs concerning diablo 3 and is a whole lot less entertaining to read as well.
There is rarely any information released on diablo 3 so I don't see a problem for the convergence. Anyway, I tried RoS and it seemed pretty fun. My only question is since the game has been easy...should I even bother collecting gems and crafting at low level to help myself? Basically am I going to get fucked later on because my gear is too poor if I don't collect shit?

I am aware of people bitching about it, but imho better some additional players for RoS than people getting their time ruined by bots on US East/West.
If you want a challenge, try to solo Hell. Try to kill the nasty Boss monsters on the way:
Kilmandaros in the Flayer Jungle Skinner at the entrance to the CS Rex Serpentorum in the Forgotten Sewers Kabraxis in the pits in A5
Then try out some of the special, 'hidden' monsters, like the two in the 2nd level of the Sewers in Act 3. And the ones that drop the charspecific Grand Charms.
And last but not least, go for the Potato Field, the Grotto and the Desert.
Crafting can yield some kickass weapons, but you can get what you need to do the above by gambling. Gems come into play, when you want to build perfect chars and need to get some skills that you don't want to spend skillpoints getting to from the booze and the magic mushrooms.
Example for crafting: You can gamble a 300 ed, 50 max Dao, up it to Berserker Axe, socket it, eth it and put BotD into it, and any melee char will be happy about it.
However, you can also do a bloodcraft, get lucky and end up with something like:
Fools Mod 400 ed 30 ias or +2 Skills 12 % LL 60 maxdam
and that is far from perfect!
And then you up the craft, eth it, socket it and build this baby into it:
I am currently playing RoS, and looking for some friends to play with and/or help me get geared/level. Im still in normal, and theres not many games or many people who speak english.
Hey guys, I am new to this thread and I was wondering if...
Diablo 3 would be similar to diablo 2 in the sense that there would be no bind on equip or find items and have a completely open trade economy.
I know that this would be a huge problem for blizzard with outside companies selling items so I am skeptical that they will keep this but for me.. that's the only reason I played diablo 2. Trading items was for me, what kept the game interesting, with the end-game purpose to build a perfect character, either in pvp or pve.
I REALLY hope they don't make items bind on equip/pickup because that will completely ruin the way diablo functioned.. >_>
