I assumed it was down for maintenance as somebody said there was a ladder reset this weekend previously. Is this not the case? If/When I can get it working I'd be happy to play with you all as playing solo is an utter nightmare.

One thing i noticed, is that i was supposed to start with 3-4 philosopher stones to use with rookie package, and i didnt get any stones, its got me stumped!
I just put them in the cube by themselves and got a few pieces of gear including some very nice unique boots.
You have to apply a registry fix to be able to play on the realm. Should be in the installation instructions somewhere.
Do you have a link to this? I can't find anything about it. I downloaded the .81 version from the English forum if that makes a difference. Was trying to play on the Welcome realm instead of RoS ^_^
Feel pro anyways as I was already using Javelins <3
Joined chat channel Teamliquid and gonna make a game if anybody is a starting new and cares to join me.
I am having a heck of a time trying to get on the realm with this game. It just keeps giving me an error when I try to log on to d2maniacs. It says battlenet doesn't recognize my version, and I can't figure out what to do. The forums are no help. Looks like I'm going to play over tcp/ip.
I currently have 1.10 installed. I thought that the D2SE mod manager had all the other versions inside of it? I had 1.10 installed because I was previously playing a different mod based off of it.
I got a friend to install as well and we are able to play together through tcp/ip but I cannot get onto battlenet.
Do I need to connect to battlenet regularly and download the latest patches so that I'm caught up to 1.13c?

It gets a lot tougher in Hell. And the Ueber areas are really, really hard. I have seen a Level 97 Barb killed almost instantly by one Champion in Tristram, and my godly Paladin (with bo/shout from a barb, almost 7k life, max reduce, max block, 78k def) has gotten hit for over 6.5k.
My A1 merc never dies - you are using phaseshift? The Mercs actually kick arse. Either use a a cold one from A1, with Faith and Treachery, or a Fire one, that will multishot and give it this RW:
I had not played diablo 2 games much, also what special items to save for later? Special potatoes have different levels should I look for some specific ones, just throw away low level ones or will they have any use?

What?

I would use then with faith if they wouldn't die fast.
No seriously I have no idea what Faith and Treachery are.

This is what Hell Bosses look like. Lots and lots of double and triple immunes, and they dish out massive amounts of damage.
So how are you supposed to kill him with Barb if he is immune to physical, and magic? All I know about fire dmg that Barb could deal is from Ruby but that wouldn't be enough.
the colorful potatoes - just cube them. They give either potato dolls (needed for charm cubing and making things ethereal), gems or runes up to sur. Any dropped after A4 normal can be used to upgrade equip to excep and elite.
the normal potatoes - cube them with the potato sack that bloodraven drops. This sack will give you phaseshift, which is a teleport with a delay. And you merc and pet teleports with you, so you can move them out of danger with it.
Faith is a RW for bows that gives a lot of enhanced Damage and Fanatism aura.
Treachery is RW for armors that gives lots of IAS and a chance to cast fade when struck.

Oh I see, yeah your idea does make it a little better. It would probably make people just choose one type of charm to fill their talisman with though.
Possible, or maybe a mix of charms will be better because you cant find ones with high base bonuses, maybe some charms will provide two bonuses so you want to trade for them, etc. It's a little bit deeper so it's a nice start.

I don't see anything there that entices me to play :/ someone built around tanking almost being one hit ko'd is kind of lame, they should take at least 3-4 and the mass immunities was bad enough in the original
@cyber_cheese: The really nasty monsters are all in the Ueber Levels, there are lots of people that play quite a lot without ever going there. Also, you have a pet companion that you can choose to fit your playstyle and also to deal with multiple immunities. But yes, if your idea of having fun is to charge in and mow everything down, then RoS (HC) might not be for you.
@Blitzkrieg: Some of the RoS veterans just decided to start out in SC.
HC is the way to go. If you need help, whisper me on the realm on *yussuf - I'm the Level 87 Paladin at the top of the ladder . Going to bed now, though, I'll be playing quite a lot tomorrow.
Gonna roll a softcore to at least run through normal once. Hardcore is the fun way to play so I'll probably swap over once I get my feet wet.

Nice to see there will be 7 qualities of runestones. I hope that the highest level runestones are decently hard to find and valuable since you are allowed to change them out at will without loss of runestone.

I think the main villain is once again Diablo himself. After having been killed twice I think Diablo and his two brothers merged into one super demon basically, with Diablo as the dominant personality. Notice that he has 2 faces on his shoulders ? I think those are Baal and Mephisto with Diablo being the center one.
You can see the mark where the soulstone used to be on his forehead and the face on his shoulder. I know it's not a very good picture to judge from but you can see it more easily in the cinematic trailer.

That is actually a really nice judgement. I think the 'super-demon' idea would be fantastic to be played out. I'm not sure how they are going to continue the story for it though.
