I know that this would be a huge problem for blizzard with outside companies selling items so I am skeptical that they will keep this but for me.. that's the only reason I played diablo 2. Trading items was for me, what kept the game interesting, with the end-game purpose to build a perfect character, either in pvp or pve.

There might be people who want to discuss the Diablo 2 related things you are talking about but who have no interest in Diablo 3 so they avoid this thread and miss the mods and playthroughs and such posted in this thread. Likewise, people like Vaporizor and Kuresuti don't want to discuss Diablo 2 and would prefer a Diablo 3 thread that is not cluttered with information irrelevant to them.

Every single starcraft 2 thread on this forum before it came out included broodwar discussion, this is nothing new, there is no need for this thread to be purist diablo 3 if it were, it would likely be nearly 1/10th of the size, the diablo 2 discussion allows people to experience nostalgia, unites the community and brings a larger connection to diablo 3 if you have a problem with it post on another forum.

This is a diablo 3 topic and that is what the OP is about. Whether or not it's a starcraft forum really doesn't matter at all. Having convos about random D2 mods that does not pertain to Diablo 3 is pretty annoying. If you want to compare D2 and D3, then I see no problems there, but you can go create a D2 topic about your mod if you want to discuss that.

You wouldn't go into a topic that is talking about Dexter (TV show) and then start talking about House (a different TV show) and how you think it's such a cool show and then start talking about the latest episodes. Whether or not this is a starcraft community is completely irrelevant in both cases.

I use this forum to talk about D3 because I like the teamliquid community, and in general, we share one common interest: we all enjoy starcraft.

As for your analogy, it's completely misused, Diablo 2 mods are a part of diablo 2, a better comparison would be saying (from your point of view) that you wouldn't go into a topic about elder scrolls and discuss oblivion mods (you would)

Your comparison of Elder Scrolls topic makes no sense. Obvioulsy you would talk about ALL elder scrolls games and mods in an Elder Scrolls topic. However, if the topic was "Oblivion" you would not talk about Morrowind mods because that's a completely different game.

Edit: And you're right, I could scroll through things to read the posts that actually pertain to the topic. I am indeed capable of that, so why then, is there even an option to create separate topics? Why not just have one big topic where we talk about everything all at once? Since, clearly, we have the ability to skip to the information we want to read.
