It's been this way for quite some time and is not a bug. I believe they changed his loot table when they nerfed breakable drops or around that time. It is sort of vexing, admittedly but it's just another reason on top of many that Act 4 is largely ignored.

Izual take so long to kill anyways; that even with the guaranteed rare he isn't worth stopping for (from an efficiency standpoint).

By putting the plans on A4 instead of A1; Blizz basically acknowledged that A4 isn't worth farming. So who knows if they'll do anything. It's not like they can just add more areas to run around...

So who knows; maybe they'll add in some more events to A4.

Actually; the most annoying change/bug to me is that mini-quests don't drop guaranteed rares (Forged in Fire, Forsaken Farm, Turning the Tide, Sardar's, Khan Dakab, ect); which is doubly annoying since they took out the resplendent chest on Sardar's and Khan Dakab!

On a side note: Decaying Crypt in A1 is the new jackpot though; a bunch of elites on lvl 1; then an event *and* working resplendent chest on lvl 2.


Oh interesting, I wonder if there's an act 1 route that people have tried to explore for farming?


The typical A1 route is Festering Woods and Royal Cemetery on MP 1+ for items. I think anyways... I'd love to hear a better route if someone's got it.

Prepatch you would start by zoning to Northern Highlands to check for watchtower, remaking if it's not there. Post-patch watchtower is in Southern Highlands which is easier to reach; but the WT has been heavily nerfed of mobs so I don't know if anyone does it.

I do the Festering Woods and Fields during my key farming runs; which is how I learned the awesomeness that is Decaying Crypts; in fact if I feel lucky I'll just start at Fields and more often than not I can get 5 stacks before finding the warden (Scavenger's Den and Decaying Crypts can both spawn; then there are two possible events plus a bunch of elites).

Does anyone actually use frost burn gauntlets? I always blindly salvage them without looking at the stats XD

well they are suppoed so help a "frost" build, but you loose so many stats on it that its never worth it really, maybe as a start item for when you start a wizard at 60 if you can find anything (or don't have any gold)

Finally found something worth throwing on the RMAH; and I discovered that if you just want gold it can be more profitable to sell on the RMAH. This is because items only incur a small transaction fee, instead of a 15% cut. Then you just buy gold with your Bnet balance*.

Of course if you want cash; then just go straight to the RMAH and don't worry about wonky cross-AH interactions. Also this trick doesn't work with commodities like gems since those have a 15% AH fee on RMAH (although sometimes gem prices can be out of wack between the AH and RMAH).

* Example cuz I'm OCD:
exchange rate is $1 / 1M gold
item goes for 160M gold on gold AH
items goes for $150 on RMAH (or equivalent to 150M gold)

Selling on the gold AH will net you 160 *.85 = 136M gold.
Selling on the RMAH will net you $149 => 149M gold.

So you pocket more gold with the RMAH even though it sells for 'less'.

Edit: I'm sure you guys already knew this, but I just had to share.

Anytime the 15% transaction fee in gold > $1, then you are better off selling for balance. Depending on the current price of gold, those limits are easy to figure out... Assuming both AHs validated the items the same, which is almost never the case and can be a good source of additional profit

Simple chart:
@ $0.50/m - RMAH range = 13.3 m-585.9 m
@ $0.45/m - RMAH range = 14.8 m-650.9 m
@ $0.40/m - RMAH range = 16.7 m-732.4 m
@ $0.35/m - RMAH range = 19.0 m-837.0 m
@ $0.30/m - RMAH range = 22.2 m-976.5 m
@ $0.25/m - RMAH range = 26.7 m-1171.8 m

Heh yea, with the current rate of gold @ $0.38 using the chart I posted above, the limit is 17.54m... or more understandably.... Any item worth from 18m to 771m today should be sold on the RMAH; market accommodating. Anything less than 18m or over 771m should be sold back on the Gold AH.

edit: forgot RMAH cap is lower than GAH.

do certain legendaries drop in certain places moreso than others? i swear i have found like 50 sun keepers as opposed to other legendaries. i only do act3.

I believe its completely random. I've found around 15 ivory towers in act 3. Although (purely on suspicion) I am beginning to think higher MPs allow for less lvl 61 and lower rolls, just because I had been finding higher lvl legendaries until I switched to mp0 for farming, but that could just be luck.

lvl63 chance for drops shouldnt change with mp level. however, the chance that the lvl63 will be a rare or legendary goes up with mf, which goes up with mp. also, with higher mp there is a chance for more drops per monster so i guess in that sense there is a possibility for more lvl63.

it just seems that i get a lot of sun keepers, and ivory towers as well. =P

Magic find does not increase the item level of drops. You will not find more item level 63 items with more magic find. Unless something changed drastically that I missed, item quality values operate at a fixed rate.

MF does however increase the chance that the item type that does drop will be magic, rare or legendary.

Keep in mind that because we do not tend to look at the magic quality (blue) items that drop, due in part to their abundance and hence their tendency to be of little value or the ineffeciency of time spent picking them up, that as our magic find is increased we will notice a greater number of items worth picking up (those formerly magic quality items will more often roll as rare or legendary).
