how likely would that be when sc2 doesn't have lan?
blizzard/activision will not implement lan for the same reason, so they can get more people to buy a copy of the game to play multiplayer.
the server lag wasn't that bad when i last played, but then again it was 3 years or so ago that I last touched D2 so I don't know what's changed since then
It's not about us not buying it, we all have copies but my internet connection has trouble running 8 computers all connected to the internet in my house. We can play with each of us at our own respective houses but that ruins the feeling of us celebrating as well as just the fun of us all being in the same room.
That's where the lag comes from... All of us DID play online though as well
... Actually about pirating I've bought 8+ copies of D2/LoD since I started playing

That sounds more like a demo of the game as opposed to beta. I would imagine they want to test the game from start to finish so I would guess you could do nearly everything. The more they allow to be tested the better it is for Blizz.
They will not release the full game because then there is no incentive to buy it.

1. Easier to monitor hacking/botting. 2. Blizzard forces you to login to battle.net, therefore they are making money from advertising etc each time. 3. Blizzard thinks LAN is a joke.
How on earth does LAN make it easier to monitor botting and hacking? LAN is separate from online multiplayer.

One of my good D2 friends met his wife over diablo, they've been married for 9 years now and both still play D2 to this day
Pretty sure they're going with the "always connected" experience of Battle.net 2.0 here. So theoretically, they can monitor your single player actions.

blocked by blizzard
Yeah, that's his point. He wants to know if anyone saw it before it was blocked, and can explain what it is.

Basically the followers have backstory and help tell the story as well, probably something similar to the banter in bioware games. There are 3 types of follower tank, mage, ranged basically. They exist for solo play only when you have another player join they leave and come back if you are solo again.

Even if the whole community warned em, and they even joked about it, they still fucking cling to this retarded full saturated color cartoonesque art style.
I dare you, look at that templar guy, I DARE YOU, it's a fucking wow character 100%.
Then look back at the official artwork, it's nothing like the finished model, it's dark and gloomy, exactly as a diablo char should look like.
And WHY THE HELL the finished model looks like a doll for retards? I don't get it.
Someone at blizzard has some big problem, he's against violence in a very retarded way or something, I don't really get it.
Never seen something quite like this, artwork = good color palette => finished model = ASS. A complete trifected fuckup with icecream on top of it, just to anger me even more.
I'm raging pretty fucking hard, I guess that the art director is some guy like the priest's wife in the simpsons and her "noone thinks about the children ?" kind of thing. But that's what the rating's for, else esrb and pegi would be unemployed for life, don't you think?
D1 and D2 had naked WOMEN impaled with the spear's tip sticking out of their mouth, people cut in half with their innards still attached to their lower half, piles of naked, mangled, dead bodies, streams, lakes, rivers of blood everywhere.
And then, what is this? EXPLAIN IT.
And don't bring the usual argument "well, the original devs quit the company", since the original devs founded runic, and guess what they made? TORCHLIGHT, a fucking cartoon, not a game, holy shit what is going on with the industry nowadays. What about arena.net? Another retarded mmo for children who are afraid of darkness, spiders and blood. Ofc Hellgate had some of the old vibe, too bad the whole game overall sucked so bad.
I am just, at a loss of words, I cannot pull myself together to actually accept this, I'm raging so hard I'm not even myself anymore...
I mean they have set up good mechanics, good game systems, everything seems good.* But whomever did that art style should play d1 and d2. A little more. And actually pay attention to the environment, doodads etc. And by the way , what's going on, are people suddently scared of blood or what? In a video game?
Take for example sc1 vs sc2. Why the hell the game was censored in korea, I don't get it. Sc1 tvz had blood literarly dripping from the monitor, sc2's version of the mu is much more tame, and childland friendly. Why they suddently felt the need to "censore it" after 12 years of sc1's zerglings bits exploding around?
*Except the very core concept behind the whole followers system. They put em in because they will serve as a help to players in the normal difficulty and single player only. Now, noone with a fucking straight face can say that to me, and expect anything other than a big, big laugh. Who in the world is that bad, seriously, who cannot finish a hack and slash on normal? It's soo easy, easier than bronze level macro actually, the problem it's the attention span. H&S games get boring FAST for the average (=not fan of the genre) player. Not the difficulty come on.

This is perhaps the saddest post I have ever read on TL. Really dude.......you should grow up. :-(
Why? Care to elaborate? I'm not the only one (i mean, outside of tl) to complain about this lastest video. For that precise reasoning.
Yes, maybe I went a lil bit too far in some sentences, but the fact still stands.(Still I did not offend anyone, or atleast that's not the intended aim) The "templar" looks ok in the artwork, looks like a wow char in the finished model.
It's a fact, man. I played wow for quite some time(like many around here I think), and I personally display,in my mind, that "thing" as a wow thing, not even remotely related to diablo.
The rest of the environment is not that bad, ofc It cannot recreate d1's, or even d2's atmosphere, because of the transition to 3d. And I can understand that.
Face it, though, the difference between the templar artwork and the finished model is uncanny.
Really, I just lose my mind when I see things that are obvious, but don't get addressed.

while the way he wrote it isnt nice he has a point.
the overall style looks very boring and cartoonish from what ive seen so far. it looks like torchlight with a strong wow influence and not like a diablo.
this wont make or brake d3 for me but might really hurt the real diablo feel and atmosphere.
also the templar indeed looks like some random paladin tier whatever set.
It sells, cartoony games sell, part of Blizzards Marketing infrastructure is to make them interested in other games, Starcraft and WoW both had advertisements closely related to each other.
Both Starcraft 2 and WoW are cartoony compared to their predecessors(Alright, WoW has no true predeccsor, but Warcraft is cartoony overall).
They both sell.
Cartoony is what sells for Blizzard, especially if they cater to the WoW/Starcraft II community(Which will undoubtly be a part of their audience).
On top of this they have to adhere to certain standards, they can not release Diablo III so easily if it contains so much gore to certain countries(and reach the full demographic, which can be determined by the Rating they get on it), including South-Korea, Germany, Australia and the like.
And I have no doubt that the costs to make a gore-less version are not to be underestimated.
To be honest, it would be hard to make something like the Durance of Hate with better graphics (ie. what we are seeing now in D3) or "... naked WOMEN impaled with the spear's tip sticking out of their mouth, people cut in half with their innards still attached to their lower half, piles of naked, mangled, dead bodies, streams, lakes, rivers of blood everywhere" and keep the game rating at M. Where as I will admit, the shade of the game is much lighter compared to that of D1 and D2. I will also agree with the sentiment that games now a-days have a feeling of being dumbed down. Like, you don't see many D2 atmosphere like games out there anymore. The rating system has buckled down quite a bit especially with things like the Cry-engine that make things look incredible.
Nevertheless, I do like the direction the art is taking in SOME circumstances. Just from watching the video spell detail/death animations looks awesome and do like the character design.
Where as the graphical theme won't make or break the game for me I would like to see more blood/ darker setting. I would also say just give the game a chance and besides the game may not even be in the alpha stages yet.
I bet no one would be thinking or complaining about it if the thumbnail for the youtube vid was the templar concept art instead of the templar Stormwind guard version.
It seems they might go back on their word of going for a M rating. Probably going for T to get the wow kids hooked. Its pretty sad IMO the game should not be going for anything lower than AO rating but business is business.
