CC reduction is pretty cool too, but also gets old. you look at the items and nothing grabs you and makes you want to get the next upgrade. they're all nameless blues or yellows with no personality, something that ability bonuses give you in TL2 or D2.
There are ability bonus affixes--they provide +% damage or -cost to certain abilities for the various classes. It's just not that easy to find worthwhile ones.
I don't think what I'm expecting is very outlandish. I think it's normal to expect it from a game of this genre, especially from the game that defines the genre.
today I just watched totalbiscuit's TL2 revisting video and his lvl 6 shotgun is a perfect example of what types of items are exciting. the tooltip is literally a mile long and is representative of what an exciting item drop would look like.
+30 Knockback +4 Physical Damage +2 Vitality Attribute Bonus +30 Knockback 10% Charge Rate Bonus 10% Chance to Cast Ice Burst on Strike +2% Attack Speed 4% Reduction in Fumble Chance Conveys 10% Chance to Burn for 5 seconds Conveys 70 physical damage over 5 seconds
I know what I'm talking about has been hammered to death, but it's just really frustrating that they would release a game with the items as they currently are. I know for many players the items are the main source of re-playability and seeing the game in the state it is is just disappointing because the gameplay is fantastic.
Knockback is in the game. Charge rate bonus is equivalent to a some class-specific regen mechanic like Hatred generation or Arcane Power on crits, which is in the game. % Fumble chance has no analogue because D3 has no analogous mechanic. Chance to burn/physical damage over time are in the game in the form of bleeds.
Basically the only relevant item attribute on that which can't be rolled in D3 is "% chance to cast X on striking".

But D2 had much more than D3 does now. That's why people are arguing so much for better itemization - what we have now feels like a step backwards.
I would not go so far as to say much more. They have more, but a lot of the differences between the two are actual differences, and not lack-of. Just remember, they also have been adding content to Diablo 2 since release, whereas Diablo III has just been released (content will also continie to grow). Items such as Runes are nice in Theory. But they ended up becoming way too wasteful and very few were truly useful (ended up striving for just a few main ones).
People need to keep in mind that the ideology behind the items are different from that of Diablo 2. They [Blizzard] strive for a different system and role that items play. They are no where near perfect, but they will be altered down the line, as well as having more items introduced. It is a desire to strive away from perfect items that everyone will go for, and make it far more random.
Somethin I've been wondering: Is there any advantage to playing mutliplayer on higher difficulties? Seems like there are none. The game just gets infinitely harder without even the prospect of more exp or loot.
I've played through normal and nightmare with a friend but once we hit hell it got pretty annoying. We tried a lot of different builds to complent each other but in the end it was just so much easier to play alone. If there is an exp or loot advantage for multiplayer it doesnt come to fruition because killing groups of monsers and bosses takes a disproportionate amount of time Also even the lowlife mobs deal an enormous amount of damage and basically two-shot while in singleplayer you can easily tank a few hits without having to worry.
I really don't like the balance of this game. What's the purpose of this? They just made everything people did in D2 useless? Partyplay is ineffective, act bosses and quest bosses drop the crappiest items... what else?

If you have a good group contain someone can tank and 2 high dps you will drop mobs faster and some of you can change to magic find gear when the boss is done thus better loot. A DH and a WZ can out put much much more DPS if you allow them to stand still plus its fun if you play with your friend. I avoid public games like a plague。

Yeah, there are some champs, rare mobs, etc. that fighting alone is near iompossible. Having others with you can make it easier since can kite and resurrect the friends.
What do you guys think is the safest class to go hardcore with ? I don't have any high expectation in HC since my connection is sometimes really bad and I have lag spike but I still want to try it and go as far as possible !

The last phase is incredibly easy if you can somehow get through the second one o_O You can literally dodge every single attack of his, and if you have any invulnerability / +65% defense abilities you can even neutralize the few mistakes you make. The breath you can also avoid if you are at the very top afaik, although that's the ability that I would build resistances against personally.

I've been getting through second phase every other attempt. My 400 ping really screws me over in the last phase, most of the time when I get 1 shot I'm out of the AoE on my screen.
is that inferno pony level?? i am wondering if it worth it.
btw, Torchlight 2 is gonna be so big if they give a bigger advertising campaign. you see TL1 is like an improvement from d2 while d3 is a dumbed down version of d2. torchlight1 feels like a real diablo successor rather than d3.

The average magic find of the party is taken, so even if someone had 100% it would only be 25% for the party.
I agree of course that its more fun to play with friends and that's why i find it ridiculous that party play is so much harder than solo play. Seriously, solo hell has been a cakewalk in comparison to party play. Bosses die a lot faster and nobody can "really" tank anyways.

Path of Exile exists as a great alternative (which isnt making stupid mistakes like D3 has) unfortunately its still in closed beta.
when that releases and people relises its free to play, i imagine blizzard will HAVE to make drastic changes or else D3 will just fade into the wind.
im a d2 fan (oh many a years i played that game yum yum) and im already at that stage where i feel "eh do i really want to farm act 1....i dont want to re roll......" but yeah torchlight 2 and path of exile..........YUM
