That's how Blizzard rolls nowadays...you even have to pay money for a name change on SC2 now. And of course on WoW you can buy stuff that looks really cool, whereas before they watered it down, you had to work hard to look pretty and everyone knew you were a top player if you had really cool looking stuff. I really don't doubt they'll mash this game up with microtransactions up the butt. We'll see.

It'll be the way "players roll", since they will be the ones putting their items up on auction, not Blizzard. As for WoW, the stuff you can buy is purely cosmetic and hasn't helped anyone "win" at anything. The WoW gamers knows quite well what items can be bought, and what items cannot, to a point where someone with the Blizzard sold cosmetic items get laughed at, see http://www.wowpedia.org/That_Retarded_Horse Relevant excerpt: "Hardcore" players often label players with this mount "noobs" and give it derisive names such as "Crack Pony" and may discriminate against those who have it. While such views do not represent all of the WoW community, players should keep this in mind when purchasing it.

Buying items that give you an advantage will never happen in a Blizzard game. nvm. too tired to write correctly. All i'm saying is, now that Activision is in the picture, everything could be possible..

By paying real money, you get a free (in-game) 'very fast / flying' class mount for every character, which otherwise would have cost a significant amount (at the time) of in-game gold to obtain. You could argue that that allows money in place of time only, and not skill (after all, it didn't take skill to get gold - just grinding), but, to be honest, that could easily apply to much of the Diablo experience as well.

The mount does get sent to all your characters, but it scales to the characters riding skill, so if you only have the very slowest ground mount skill, then you will only have a very slow ground mount that cannot fly, unless you purchase the associated skill(s). Also, prior to the introduction of these cosmetic mounts they changed the price of the riding skills/mounts so that the riding skill is expensive, but the mounts are cheap, instead of the other way around like it used to be in the classic days, so a fast flying mount would be about 100g, which is just roughly 4-5 daily quests.

Honestly, I would be shocked if blizzard actually took the pay to win route. They are already gouging for the game and 2 expansions like starcraft2, they are gouging for SC2 name changes, and now they want to charge you to buy epic lewtz. Honestly, what garbage. It's funny because WOTLK is already outdated by cataclysm but is still 40 bucks. They dont give up money easily.

Cheers xajten; that makes sense, and restores some of my faith in Blizz ![]() I still have no idea what to think about a real money in-game AH though.

The can of worms it opens is so absurdly large I can't see blizzard doing something as stupid as what is being proposed. Shutting down the d2jsp etc. sites is a different goal from the real money market people are talking about. You can do one without the other.
