I want to get top200 on crusader solo (currently like #380), top 200 2man (#365) and maybe I'll try top 200 monk solo as well. I know top200 isn't super impressive but it's a reasonably difficult but attainable goal as a casual (only PL483).
What is everyone else goal each season? Do you guys try to aim for something or just play until you're bored of the new sets/items? Also, does anyone know if Taeguk or Pain Enhancer is better for HOTA build barb in 2 man? I tried lurking the leader boards and it seemed pretty split 50/50 on which gem they used.
Sick! :O I started playing last week and ended up taking an extended (4 day) weekend off from work to play the game. Rolled a demon hunter and a buddy of mine power leveled me to 70 and let me leech some grifts for starter gear. Fast forward 7 days and I'm doing decently well. Paragon 512, currently fishing for ancient nats, especially the weapon. My UE set is coming together very nicely. Found an ancient yangs yesterday which boosted my crits from 500mil to sometimes 2.5billion, which is CRAZY. I realized though that UE6 is great for speedfarming, but if I want to push grifts and get top 200 solo DH this season (even though I started a month late...) I need to invest in acquiring ancient nats. Going to start pushing 60+ grifts once I have an ancient nats set complete, or atleast an ancient weapon. Thinking i'll go the lightning route. So far I've only been able to clear a 53 solo with my UE6, but I attribute that to poor optimization on my current gear. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Luck-1545/hero/67726973My goals for now: Rift until my fingers bleed Complete Ancient Nats Optimize UE6 Push for top 200 on solo leaderboards. that's an awesome yangs you got. I played UE DH last season and it was a lot of fun. I can't even imagine how much more damage UE DH are doing this season with the new items + the cube. I've been critting upwards of 2.5B What. I sometimes have 300million crits.

Generally you want CHD, CHC, and Dmg on your rings. So reroll the dex.

Can confirm I crit anywhere between 1.3 and 2.5billion with my UE6 multishot. Would be more if my gear was better optimized. I can speed run solo grift45's in around ~4mins (Torment 10 basically.)

my WD unfortunately seems to be unplayable, for the first time i did some GR pushing to get to 60, but the game just stands still when i get a good rift, i ragequit after 3 rifts -.-

i have been pushing GR with a WD fire wall/poison cloud build, and it lagged pretty bad. =( are zombie bear builds less laggy? i heard the fire wall causes the lag, so i imagine not.

wait for conventions proc, pop raven, go ham
also make sure you use your primary before the fire proc, so that your restraint/focus are both procced as well, keep your distance for zeis, etc etc

I did grift 62 on crusader now, probably could do 63 or 64 with a GG rift (need more paragons for anything higher). But at the same time I don't feel like I make good progress because that's not even good enough to place on a lot of the other leaderboards(rank 64 sader). At this point my sader has almost full ancient, with decent rolls on everything so there's so little to improve.
Pretty ready to just reroll barb and faceroll a 62 the instant I get an ancient weapon.

Alright I'll explain:
this is the ideal gear you want
- The core is the Unhallowed essence set, which take 6 pieces.
- Focus/restraint are my rings, and the two set bonus that they give is 50% increased damage when using a hatred generator, and 50% increased damage when using a hatred spendor. This means your evasive fire and mutishot give you a combined total of 125% increased damage since they are multiplicative, not additive
- yangs recurve bow, for obvious reasons
- dead mans legacy quiver, for obvious reasons
- hunter's wrath belt for faster attack speed on evasive fire
- wraps of clarity for huge damage reduction
- Currently using a mara's amulet, but hellfire here is better
You want to roll discipline as secondary skills in the bow, quiver, and chest slot, since it gives you that much more multishot damage. Get as much fire% damage as you can (found on amulet and wrist). I like resource cost reduction so i rolled that on a few items
For the three GR gems:
- Zei's, for massive damage boosts at long range
- Bane of the stricken, for massive damage boost the longer you fight the target
- Bane of the trapped, for a flat damage increase (i will be replacing this with taeguk since i am HC)
Skills:
- Preparation - invigoration: +15 discpline, more damage
- vault - tumble: many lives saved with this one
- companion - wolf companion: when activated, damage boost
- vengence - seethe: this is the only skill that you can switch out, i like the hatred generated with this skill
- evasive fire - focus: massive hatred generation
- multishot - arsenal: the damage dealer, you'll see lot's of numbers
Passives:
- Steady aim: i am always 10+ yards away from enemies, so this is free 20% damage. alternative is ambush
- cull the weak: more 20% damage for free
- ballistics: your multishot does huge amounts of damage through it's rockets, and this gives you incrediblely more damage
- awareness: i've died about a zillion times, but never put 6 feet under thanks to this
Cube:
- Weapon - calamity: massive damage increase, unfortunately i haven't found this yet
- Armor - cindercoat: makes multishot that much less expensive
- Jewelry - conventions of the elements: this is the item that will make you deal billions of damage. Every four seconds, it rotates through an elemant and gives you 200% increased damage in that element. The order is: lightning, physical, cold, fire.
Simple playstyle. Always stay ~50 yards away so that your Zei's gem gains its maximum damage increase. Vault around for mobility and when you need to get the hell out of a sticky situation. I wait until the cold element from conventions is around half way done, and then i pop my companion/vengeance. That way i have 100% uptime for the first fire cycle on conventions, and this is when i deal billions of damage. Vengeance will last until the second fire proc, so you can basically spam multishot the entire time vengeance is up. Don't forget to re-shoot your evasive fire every 5 seconds to maintain that extra 50% damage
|
You can use vault - trail of cinders as well. It benefits from cindercoat cost reduction.

why do most high level diablo players play with monster hp numbers on? what advantage does this give?
@emu, HMU on steam if you want some quick levels. i have a couple cow level staves.

i just like numbers a lot

My shoddily geared Nats DH hits 2-4 billion Crashing Rain crits and steadily between 25-75 mil for strafe. Its kinda silly the amount of damage people get

Any ideas how to further improve my Wizard (profile)?
I'm having fun with her but I'm somewhat at the limit at GRift 42/43. With Energy Armor on I have about 21mil toughness and 3.4mil recovery.
I can get the full Tal Rasha bonus going easily (all 4 elements) and it combines nicely with Elemental Exposure and Convention of Elements.
Currently I plop down the two Frost Hydras, cast the other spells as I go and use my Magic Missile to build Arcane Dynamo stacks for said Frost Hydras. (grants them 60% more damage for their duration) At best the Fire/Arcane meteors can crit for ~2.4b but the real damage over time are the double Frost Hydras. I could in theory go Mammoth Hydra instead but this would waste the cold damage bonus I have and double Mammoth Hydra with Tasker and Theo lags the games to pieces, forcing me to use Low FX.
For my gear I'm still looking for a Focus ring (I have two Restraints) so I can get that bonus going although I'll probably need to swap out the amulet for something else then. Maybe try and get the Tal Rasha amulet so I don't need to use the helm and keep Aughild's bonus. (as with Focus and Restraint I won't have the RROG bonus as I'm using Convention of Elements from the Cube).
I have a full Delsere set available but I'm not liking that as much as I thought I would and it seems to be less effective than Tal Rasha even though I do have a nice Ancient Mirrorball to go with it. Also have a full Vyr's set (and an Ancient Chantodo source) but I never really tried Archon before, I'm guessing you'd need to stack massive amounts of cooldown reduction to keep it up 24/7? Also have a Firebird set but never tried it.
Other thoughts I had:
Finding a real Ancient Serpent Sparker or another Ancient main weapon with a more useful legendary attribute. Getting Ancient version of my Tal Rasha source (or replace it with something else and use the helm to keep the 6 item set bonus, I have an Ancient Mirrorball and I do like Magic Missile).

Get calamity rune on teleport and get magic weapon. get vei's gem, you have to have three gems. del rasha is very good, and you shouldnt have a mirror ball with it. you need tals source in that slot. I just built a del rasha, got not much better stats than you and just comfortably went GR 44 - 46 - 48 - 50. WIll see tomorrow how much further I can go. Compare to my build. You do need tal rasha ammy with it though.

Hmm, how do you get all 4 stacks for the Tal Rasha set though? Or is the damage from the slow time sphere that good that you don't need all 4?
As for Calamity rune, how does that work exactly? You teleport into a group, they get stunned and you take less damage for a few seconds? Does Frozen count as stunned? I only have a Dexterity version of those bracers sadly (from my DH). Also see Vei has a 20% stun on it so I'm guessing that helps as well.

Yes, teleport in and either finish them off or run out again. Or teleport on the spot if you don't dare go in, you mainly want the tall rasha stack. If you have an ancient aether walker, that helps of course...
The bracers aren't that important, but help a bit. Strongarm or any other will do as well.
I think both vei and the bubble counts as stun, so that should be almost always up.

Ah I see, Slow Time is one element (I guess that would be Cold for me), Teleport adds Arcane and the other two are your spells. I have a regular Aether Walker I could cube as I don't have that 2H mace. (have yet to see it drop since day 1 of D3) Does this mean though that Teleport is always on cooldown in order to have the tal rasha stack up? Or could I use an arcane skill instead of magic weapon for that and keep Teleport purely as a GTFO skill?

I use illusionist to reset teleport cool down, and save the weapon cube for furnace for extra DPS. Not ideal as teleport often is on cool down, which can decrease DPS, but with illusionist it still works as get out skill. Cubing aether walker is maybe the more common choice, and for sure the best if you don't have a furnace. Less peak DPS on elites, but more sustained 4 stack tal rasha, and faster moving between groups.
I don't think it's a good choice to have a fifth active skill. Nothing really beats 20% damage from magic weapon I think.
