So is anyone excited for the release of God of War III? I sure am because I just finished God of War II last week and the ending is such a cliffhanger... GoW 3 has to be the most hyped game for the PS3, and it's probably bigger than Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain. If you guys are into preorder bonuses then you better preorder now. The Ultimate Edition is sold out everywhere, but who knows, they might come back in stock.

Game's story:
God of War III allows players on the PlayStation 3 to take on the climatic role of the ex-Spartan warrior, Kratos, as he treads through the intimidating heights of Mt. Olympus and the dark depths of Hades once more to seek revenge on those who have betrayed him. Armed with double-chained blades, as well a selection of new weapons, Kratos must take on mythology's darkest creatures while solving intricate puzzles throughout his merciless quest to destroy Olympus and the mighty Zeus himself.
God of War 3 is the most balanced. It's not quite as focused as GOW1, nor is it as lengthy and moment-packed as GOW2, but it's the most consistent and varied of the three, and when it's at its best the first two can't touch it.
Game Informer
Not even in my wildest dreams could I have imagined such a powerful, cinematic, and breathtaking conclusion to the saga of the Ghost of Sparta.
GamePro
But as a fan who actually cares about Kratos and his plight, I found it to be a bit of a letdown. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed the journey, I can't help but feel disappointed by the way Kratos chose to say goodbye at the end of it.

I personally bought it on Amazon because it is priced at $56.99 and if you choose "FREE with Super Saver Shipping" it comes out to be $56.99 TOTAL. So you don' t have to pay tax for shipping, but you do have to wait longer.
I played the demo of it and i don't really like it that much.
I'll get this out of the way first so some of you can stop reading - it's the first GoW i've played
Anyway the game is good looking and all that standard shit for PS3 games but it's not really fun. Spam attackatatkatkackatkakckatkakt *get hit or bother to move* atatacatakckackaktatkakt its just boring. I don't give a shit if i'm slowly going to disembowl a centuar using my awesome powers of quick time event buttons, hell why can't a normal triangle press rip off his horn? Why aren't i doing all that crazy shit and why am i just pressing a random button to do it for me? Thats not really a good arguement but i can't be bothered to make it any better. Unlike Bayonetta, this game just lacks style and just the WHAT THE FUCKNESS of an action game for me. Oh wow there's a boss dude thats 45ft high. Guess what? That's normal now, it's nothing special. Bayonetta has you constantly moving around like a crazybitchcrackheadlightspeed mentalist and you can call it button spamming if you want but i'd like any of you to try this shit
I just think its kinda bland, sorry for such a negetive post straight away, for those that love the GoW balls to the rocksmashhammer action then you will probably like it but just ask yourself as you're spamming square or triange, "am i having fun?"
isnt that what you can say about Devil may cry and Ninja Gaiden? spamming square and triangle is undeniable but people don't give a damn when they are fanboy of the plot and gore graphics. They do have difficulties for people that are looking for challenges.
as for button mashing, you do exactly the same thing on bayonetta -_- except probably more because of the speed of the game... so dont give us that crap about button mashing, cause thats what this genre is about
i know that this genre is about button mashing and i was going to edit it after i wrote it but at least in DMC and Bayonetta the buttom mashing means something, and you can perform a whole horde of different combos with just two of the buttons especially if you've ever seen the bayonetta move list. Even then to add to that you can switch weapons as you're doing near instantly so you can change the string at any given moment I just think that the combat is a little lackluster and makes the game look slow

you do realize you can switch weapons on the fly in GOW 3 too?

the combat system isnt as deep as bayonetta thats for sure, but what makes all god of war games so good is the great mix of puzzles, platforming, and exploration. god of war 1 and 2 both had some of the best level design of all time, and there's a great variety to the levels and such. I cant believe you like bayonetta but never even PLAYED god of war 1 or 2 :O, theyre easily 2 of the best action/adventure games of the last 5 years.
plus the demo's combat is extremely easy just because (assuming it follows the other 2 games in the series) it takes the 1st level and gives you way upgraded weapons so you can see more advanced moves with them without upgrading the difficulty at all. if it's anything like the other 2 the game gets a lot more challenging and entertaining combat-wise after 2 or 3 hours in the game.
Oh yeah i definitely cannot wait for this game. I already have it preordered. I played the Demo and it was pretty good for the most part. For those of you saying that this game is just "an average buttonmasher" no no no, this game definitely takes skill. Each creature has different strategies in order to defeat. Some combos are a terrible idea against some enemies but that same combo could do very well against different ones. You also have to know when to block, when to dodge, use heavy attack, use light attack, change weapons, and there are also alot of puzzles mixed into the games themselves so that it's not just a gore fest . The story line for the God of War series is also well done and the graphics for the God of War 3 Demo were phenomenal to say the least, I cannot wait to see what the finished product looks like.

I will have all day Tuesday devoted to this game

The GoW series isn't as mindless as many people who labeled it to be because it does take some thought in solving the puzzles and a good eye for details. There is a nice list of moves and combos that you can try out, but each one can be used effectively depending on the boss or enemy. I, for one, do not mash at all, but I use different moves on each enemy since you cannot do square-square-triangle to fight a boss because you will lose quickly. I love the GoW series because I am a fan of mythology and folklore in general (love Greek myth the most) and the gameplay is satisfying. I don't care what anyone says, but I think Bayonetta isn't all what it's cracked up to be.
Looks like a solid end for the trilogy. I hope to rent it someday. Can't help but think these "next-gen" sequels are more often boat loads of missed potential though.
I played the demo and I was like -- playing God of War on the PS2 years ago was amazing, to think that years later on this new system and it still feels more or less like the same game I was playing on my PS2 is underwhelming to say the least.
It looks beautiful, the new ways to take down enemies are sick and the bosses all look to be stunning fights. It's what you'd typically expect from a sequel and it's a smart business move on the developer's part -- but count me as one, truly unexcited GoW fan for this upcoming title.
This has happened a lot with many of my favorite franchises from last generation.
WOAH Devil May Cry 4!!! THIS IS GONNA BE AWE --- ... the same thing as last time? OMG OMG RESIDENT EVIL 5 IS GONNA BE GAME OF THE YEA -- worse than RE4? FINALLY MGS4 HAS ARRIVED, BEST GAME EVE -- plays like a PS1 game?
Halo, Ninja Gaiden, etc... -- it's not that they aren't good games, in fact they are just fine, but developers play it so safe I find it hard not be bored with a lot games nowadays. Well maybe not bored, but I'm not going to buy a 10 hour title for $60 if they keep this up.
Gimmie something interesting instead. I've played Resident Evil, Metal Gear and God of War. I want something like Shadow of the Colossus. You know - put some effort into it and not just recycle your last game? If I wanted GoW I would have played 1.

Haha yeah I'll be getting Starcraft 2. Brood War became a hit because of it's simple design that hosted really deep intricacies which is why it is such a great competitive game.
So while Blizzard hasn't really messed with the design all that much, they have essentially created an entirely new game merely by changing some basic mechanics and adding a bunch of new content.
Custom maps and the competitive scene are going to keep this game alive for a long time and that's well worth my money.
Single player action hack-n-slash games? Not really expecting a life span there.
man I WANT TO FUCKING PLAY THIS GAME SO MUCH. I have been waiting for GoW3 ever since I finished GoW2 T_____T
but I don't have a PS3 atm
God of War is such an amazing series. Button mashing won't get you past medium. I tried Titan mode, and I was absolutely crushed every single time by the ice spear dude T_T
