I'll get this out of the way first so some of you can stop reading - it's the first GoW i've played
Anyway the game is good looking and all that standard shit for PS3 games but it's not really fun. Spam attackatatkatkackatkakckatkakt *get hit or bother to move* atatacatakckackaktatkakt its just boring. I don't give a shit if i'm slowly going to disembowl a centuar using my awesome powers of quick time event buttons, hell why can't a normal triangle press rip off his horn? Why aren't i doing all that crazy shit and why am i just pressing a random button to do it for me? Thats not really a good arguement but i can't be bothered to make it any better. Unlike Bayonetta, this game just lacks style and just the WHAT THE FUCKNESS of an action game for me. Oh wow there's a boss dude thats 45ft high. Guess what? That's normal now, it's nothing special. Bayonetta has you constantly moving around like a crazybitchcrackheadlightspeed mentalist and you can call it button spamming if you want but i'd like any of you to try this shit
I just think its kinda bland, sorry for such a negetive post straight away, for those that love the GoW balls to the rocksmashhammer action then you will probably like it but just ask yourself as you're spamming square or triange, "am i having fun?"
Been a DMC fan for god knows how long. GoW is just not the same. No starcraft like apm.

Agreed, I would put the two series in the same genre but to compare the two is going a bit far. Its like comparing SC to WC3, yes they are the same genre but totally different gameplay styles o_O
I do really enjoy all of the God of War games, but this isn't a day of release pick up for me. In fact, it might be only a rental for me. They are fun games, but I'm not huge into this genre of game. We'll see though
I played both the GoW III and Bayonetta demos, and I have to say, I found the Bayonetta demo more fun. And this is from someone who never had a PS2 and never played the original of GoW's. However, I heard Bayonetta on the PS3 blows, even with the patches fixing the load times, because there is a lot of slowdown, and the frame rate is bad. As for GoW III, I don't like that the game is only eight hours long. There's no way I'm dishing out 60+ bucks for that. And I'm not particularly enthralled with Greek mythology.
I think both are rentals for me. However, if Bayonetta didn't have the technical issues, I'd probably get a used copy. Seems like it has a lot of replayability, and plus the game itself is longer than GoW III.
My next purchase will probably be Heavy Rain when the price goes down. I just hope Gran Turismo 5 comes out in the next year.

na the only real problem w/ the ps3 version were the load times, but they fixed it w/ the patch. FPS is definitely playable, only 360 fanboys will complain about it ;/
i actualy got an extra used copy i'll sell for 40$ shipped. good-as-new condition o_o
Question. I saw the gametrailers reviw on GOW III and they mentioned that it basically begins right where GOW II leaves off. For someone who has never played any of the GOW games it is pretty important that I play through the first two before I play the third?
I really don't mind playing them if it will make the story better but I was just wondering how much it mattered.

from one of the developers: SantaMonicaKen wrote: "Hey Guys, Reviews are awesome, we are humbled as developers. I think around 40% are perfect scores, unbelievable!!!
The one issue that has irked me is some reviewers are listing this as an 8hr game. This is not an 8 hr game, the fastest play tester on normal mode took 12 or 13 hours during the final play through - the fastest!
I have no idea why or what the motivation is to put out misinformation."

You can watch the recap videos of GoW 1 and GoW 2 separately here.
I, personally, think that you will feel more immersed if you played the actual games (possibly the PSP game, but it isn't too important), but you could always watch the recap videos and read the summary on Wikipedia.
