I have the Ice Fisher of Civilization 5. Get ready to have your MIND. BLOWN. Assuming there are 3+ non-trapping forests nearby: RESEARCH Mining -> Luxury (trapping/calendar/fishing) -> Archery PRODUCE Worker -> Worker -> Settler -> Settler -> Archers + Show Spoiler + ADOPT Tradition -> Monument Thing -> Monarchy/Landed Elite (depending on availability of luxury) TOTALLY IMBA! Srsly! :D:D:D This works for me. Country depends on the map, but Russia works pretty well most of the time.

http://www.civfanatics.com/ I am personally partial to playing as the Iroquois. But I played most of my games before that patch where they changed alot of things.

I've heard some people saying it's decent but how is it compared to Civ IV? I played it for hundreds of hours with friends over Hamachi a couple years ago, but never bothered to pick Civ V up.

I remember playing a game on my friend's Steam account when Civ V was released, and it was super buggy/imbalanced. I've heard some people saying it's decent but how is it compared to Civ IV? I played it for hundreds of hours with friends over Hamachi a couple years ago, but never bothered to pick Civ V up. No, it's not. It has major potential to be better, but in its current state, it's not even close to Civ 4. Gods and Kings may fix this, and from what we're seeing it's definitely a step in the right direction but we can't know until release. But yeah, in its current state it's nowhere near Civ 4. However, all of us that played Civ 4 at release know it was horrible as well We were all saying the same things, except comparing it to Civ 3. So yeah, just wait it out until June and see the response from Gods and Kings first and buy the bundle IMO if you like the way it looks.

I probably won't end up buying it, because I'm super broke right now but we'll see!

Going Tradition, not leading with Scout/Monument, and no early Library is basically the opposite of everything you should be doing. Though, at easier difficulties, anything with a plan works. Rome and Persia are pretty good starter civs if you like expanding; you'll have good defense against any AI that wars with you, and you can pretty much focus on spamming cities and taking attacks of opportunity. Start with Scout/Monument every game (in either order is fine, though I prefer leading with the scout unless I'm at 1 production), and go Liberty every game for the free Worker+Settler (usually in that order for a newer player; if you're feeling bold, you can steal a worker from a neighboring City-State). Research Writing, and whatever it takes to improve your nearby luxuries, and make sure to trade the excess luxuries to the AI for 240gold. Sell your Open Borders for 50 gold. With that gold, you can buy the rest of your Workers and Settlers: never produce more than one Settler for the entire game if you can help it, since it halts growth.
