Also, I'm having a hard time adjusting to the economy of Civ 5, I feel it's REALLY gold stressed. If you don't have a lot of extra gold, it's hard to do much

The best strategy is to get one high production city with a lot of hills, sufficient food, and set the focus to production. Make a Granary and military buildings here then only produce units. Everywhere else should aim for a mix of food and gold, with various improvements. You don't need a huge army, but it's important to keep pumping out units so you don't fall too behind, even if you don't plan on waging war. Keep your units along your borders and the AI will be much less likely to attack you since you have defended borders.

Since you can't stack workers, it seems like it takes forever to get tiles improved which leads to slower infrastructure and slower unit production. Thoughts? It starts to build up as more workers and economy builds up but wow.

In civ4, your worker would complete improvements too fast, and when you're on slavery whipping them to death you have way more improvements than you need. Not to mention, you have to build roads to hook everything up. In civ5, unless I get some ruins that give me an early boost to population, a single worker can usually keep up with my city. Also, with an improvement you cant get a wheat/cow/anything over 4 food per tile (as opposed to the 5 or 6 in civ4), so cities grow slower. Basically, it's slower to build things, but because we don't have 20 population cities anymore, its not really effecting things as much as people seem to think, imo. --- EDIT: Because I dont want a single 1-word post, this edit is in reply to the below post, from above! Wow.

Then you are screwed ![]() I can't wait untill I can finally get a copy next weekend. No time a pick it up or play it before that time. ![]()

Still haven't decided how I feel about city-states. I more or less ignore them until a chance to make them happier arises (taking out a barbarian encampment that's close to me) or I feel I need their bonus for something in which case I will pay them gold. I haven't take any of the policies that affects the relationship you have with them.

The most annoying thing I've found so far is the lag. I have a fairly recent computer (i7-930) and the leader screen just lags. Whenever I have diplomatic contact with a major civ, my game freezes for around 5 seconds. Also, it seems that resources now give much fewer bonuses as compared to previous civ games. The bonus resources now are terrible. At least the strategic and luxury resources give something other than bonus resources. Right now, I don't really see the differences between resources such as cattle and wheat versus just plain grassland with a farm.
