I think this is completely fucking retarded, and whoever made that decision is dumb from eating so much shit. fucking unbelievable that they will really make me wait until thursday night to fucking play the game i payed 50 bucks for (DIGITAL CONTENT ONLY) holy fucking shit. Im so fucking pissed right now, I want to punch a bitch in the face Yeah I feel you man. We are on the same boat here. Try download the demo though. The decision to make this title a Steamwork title seems very bad. I heard that even you purchase a physic copy of the you still need Steam and wait untill the exact release date to play it...wtf -_-

I bought the game and I live in the USA so this doesn't effect me. It's something to try if you're EU and can't download the demo, though. @snotboogie. First of all, awesome name. Love The Wire. Second, I usually play civ4 co-op with friends on high handicaps (monarch, emperor) and aggressive AI and all sorts of stuff that makes it harder, to have the multiplayer feel without getting warrior rushed when you random a Civ that starts with scout. When I sit down to play a Civ game, I want a few hours of enjoyment, but multiplayer PvP civ4 has always been a poor experience for me. Will see what Civ5 is like, though. I think its pretty hard to rely on random opponents being able to set aside the amount of hours that I'd want to for a nice long game without interruption. Maybe it'll be different, though. Also interested in starting a civ5 succession game here on TL after maybe a week, so we all have some hands-on time to discover whats what. Will post the sign-ups as soon as I load it up and get some hands-on to make sure its possible/feasible. If they make succession games impossible I can hear a large groaning from a decent number of people. And if you make the SG at a low enough level I'll join. I really need to actually play through games this time though, I was always forgetting to save in Civ4 since I wasn't used to the game length being so long. ![]() Man, this decrypting files is killing me ![]() Sweet. I just got home and decrypted so I'm going to spend some sweet, sweet quality time with Civ5 right this moment. I'm going to post a succession game sign-up thread this evening, though (maybe tomorrow morning.)

Countries with retarded retail laws are going to get the game later than the USA. Deal with it.

It automatically chose the c: drive, which doesn't really have much space left in it (enough for civ5, but little else after). Anyone able to choose their installation path? I'd ask in some of the bigger forums like civfanatics or apolyton but they are heavily congested right now. the game will be installed into the steam folder you can use this tool to move individual steam games to different pathes/drives http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover and for the non-north americans: if you use a proxy or vpn which gives you a us ip adress you can decrypt the civ 5 files, set steam to offline mode until friday and play. there is a thread somewhere on civfanatics.com, but at the moment it's overloaded, so i can't link to it

And Steam is very very good atm, it sucked in the beginning, but Valve improved it a lot. I don't think the decision is bad. I like it because using Steam has many benefits once you have friends there etc.
