Think I clocked one turn waiting on 1 minute and 30 secs once :/
turning on quick move and quick combat really made things ALOT faster for me

How do I know which ideology to choose, in my second game as Assyria I went order and suddenly -24 happiness because people wanted Freedom altough I went for science/domination. Kinda screwed me for quite some turns.

Ugh, seems like the only way to prevent Venice from getting diplomatic victory is through war. Take over city-states or take out Venice. No point in competing over their city-states; I've seen Venice throw enough money at a CS to have 600 influence.

When you have to choose the ideology, you see which civs are following which ideologies. You can limit that effect by increasing your own culture (I think... you might have to increase tourism, but that probably just causes them to want your ideology rather than your own people wanting it. The culture vs. tourism thing is still a bit hazy for me).

To defend yourself against foreign influence you need both culture and tourism. If you influence them as much as they influence you, no one gets pressured. How much one is pressured depends on the difference of influences (you are exotic for them, they are popular for you, you get 2 points of pressure; if you were unknown to them, you would get 3).
Guys, do you know how conquering a civ's capitol while they are building a spaceship works? Will it destroy the parts they've added or stop them from launching until they hold their capitol again?

It does not destroy parts they've already completed and set up; and I believe they can launch new parts from their new capital.

daammmmmmmmmmm I guess that's game, I've been so close to winning too t.t
that certainly makes domination victories waaaay harder

Does anyone know how to disable sounds when alt-tabbed? I don't like playing the game silent but trying to watch a stream during the load screen while the chorus hits its high notes while the gravely voiced man drones on about Nobununga is getting tiring.

As far as i know you cant launch space parts in any other city but your actual capital. Ive won a game by bombing china and taking his capital. Approximately 2 turns before he wouldve won the game.

I wish the old science victory conditions applied, where your ship actually had to land at Alpha Centauri in order to win. Everyone's ship progress was global information, so you knew that England's spaceship would arrive in 2015 AD and it was a race to take their capital before that happened because your ship will arrive in 2017. In Civ5 you can only get a vague idea of each player's spaceship progress and there's no obvious deadline like there used to be.

I hate Western Europe, spawning on the western side of Africa just off the coast is amazing luxury wise, but as Venice it is shit strategic resource wise. Mountains and a fortification orgy over there.
How the hell did France, and the UK get Oil during WW1/WW2 in such an area.

because Britain and France controlled the middle east along with russia

Yeah too bad trade routes don't come into play and have an affect with resources. I have also discovered it is almost impssible to win a science victory with Venice. Domination seems to be the only solution to slowing such a victory down in regards to the AI.
Interesting development I have gone full empire building went to war with Russia due to a Defense Pact with Arabia, grabbed three cities two from war one from a peace treaty, two cities in the Gulf of Mexico region, one off the West coast of Africa. Then went to war with China and grabbed all her cities in the Arabian Peninsula with all it's Copper and Cotton along with a city in East Asia with some Oil. Then there's Germany, I attacked China because Bismarck decided to DoW China and since both were blocking access to the sea from East Africa might trade routes were unguarded and I couldn't upgrade my frigates and so I grabbed what I could from China.
Then Bismarck DoW Ashurbanipal, then his ally, the hag of the North, also known as a Boudica also joined in. Seeing how early in the game we fought a war over religion(Islam versus Catholicism) there was no way in hell I was having a Bismarck owned continent with a Catholic resurgence in Anatolia! So we went to war. It's a stalemate, right now I have captured Dortmund, lost it, then just recaptured it. Venetian Islamic Communist Tanks, Marines, Paratroopers, WW2 infantry, Planes, Bombers, and Rocket Artillery fighting German Autocratic Islamist's with WW1 Infantry, Tanks, Planes, Bombers, Antitank weapons, Artillery, Bazooka teams, and MG's in the jungles of Central Africa...
Sometimes this game is worth every penny.
Will have to invade the Arabian empire in South America soon as he has finsihed the Apollo program as have I.

Also, is BNW on sale anywhere? Nothing. You only miss out some civs.
Turns out my brother got me gold edition when it was on sale on Steam ^_^. I assume that includes pretty much everything, so I should have all civs when I buy the new expansion? :D

What are you favourite new Civs so far? I really like the schoshones because of reasons. Their earlygame is pretty nice but you dont get a lot for the later stages of the game. Its pretty obvious that they are strong.
Venice just plays slightly different. Its an easier OCC, which is kinda fun to play, especially if youve never tried OCC before (like me).
Poland seems extremely strong in my opinion. I had a game on immortal that I couldve won by diplomacy, culture or by science. Their starting locations is pretty good and one free social policies every century? Hell yeah, yes please.
Zulu are also very fun to play. Prepare to be invaded! (by 25 Spearmen, that are super fast and get less damage from arrows AND cities. Im not quite sure if they get less damage because they are so strong or because they perform a ranged attack first.
Assyria is decent as well. But I like the zulu more. The thing about those civs I dont really like is the fact that you dont achieve a lot by conquering one or two civs. Sure, you might get some wonders but you will fall behind in tech cause youve built a lot of units and you now own 15 cities, which means less science and maybe also less culture. And the AI tends to not build a lot of buildings. Have fun with you unupgraded 10 pop cities mate! Our last "favour"
Brazil, Portugal and Indonesia seem pretty weak imho. I also dont really understand portugals special ability. You gain double the income by ressource diversity. wat? Dont understand the french one either .

Steam Gold edition + BNW give you everything there is to have.

The Portuguese UU and it's ability is weak and should have a cool-down rather than a one time ability.
