Also I got gifted merchants of venice by some city states lol. I wonder if that's a bug.

Looking forward to the great artists works, but playing hot seat takes around trice as long as a singleplayer or multiplayer game, so it will take it's time (first comes some classical wartime anyways!). Still I am very glad that even in 2013 there is still something as oldschool as hot seat in the game. What a pleasant surprise after so many games not even supporting lan anymore.

Yes, I got it as an "apology" for putting the game on sale just a day after it came out (screwing people like us who pre-ordered it). The damage is done though, I will never again pre-order a game that comes out in the summer!

On the other hand, domestic trade routes are like, wayy stronger than international ones lol. +10 food/hammers from a sea domestic trade route is craaazyyy, way better than 25some gold and maybe +1/+2 science.

I can't really get the hang of them, I've been trying to get aggressive early and transition into a science game but is it worth picking up honor in that case? Statue of zeus could be useful and the 15% build bonus on melee applies to the siege units as well. Due to the 5% tech nerf, unless you take only a few cities early, I wouldn't try to transition into a SV. I would go full domination and see their UA as a way to catch up while being able to throw hammers and techs into armies instead of science tech/buildings. Research military, steal other techs. Obviously, you would still need to get the science but I think their UA is aimed at keeping them on a war and used at a catch up mechanics throughout the whole process. I wouldn't go full honor first but it's a possible secondary tree. You can also grab just the opener to farm culture while fighting barbarians, making tradition/liberty faster and then get what you want in honor.

![]() This makes me a happy Venice. Diplomatic Victory seems very easy as Venice. You just need the Great lighthouse, the Colossus and anything else with merchant points, go commerce and spam city states with trade missions for delegates. Ohh, and not get killed :D

Is it worth playing without any DLC if I already have the full Civ5 or should I just trade/gift it?

With no expansion, not really in my opinion. Even with them I probably wouldn't suddenly start replaying Civ4. You can still check it a couple hours to see the differences with civ V though. Or just watch some deity LP of that.

I am feeling deeply interested if any kind hearted civ player feels like it ![]() On another matter, the shoshone seems way too powerful. Just finished a game on immortal and not only the IA was being fairly pacific but expanding was ezpez...

Having a 42 Population Venice that was still growing is fun though. I like the changes they implemented so far. But: Loading time in between turns is way too high. Decreasing Graphics to a minimum only made a small difference.... Its really annoying when you have to wait 1 Minute to end a turn and it takes more time than the actual turn you play. They have to fix that.

Dont really think the statue of Zeus is that useful to you, you have those siege towers which can knock down everything else until rennisance because they give all other units around them something like +200% attack vs the city. I'd open with 2-3 cities, have your 2nd and 3rd city build a grannery and then just archers, have assur get a barracks and then towers. march of and plunder the first ai. if the next ai is close enough, repeat step 2 while moving towards the next tech path for archer units. and grab a writers guild. Assyrian libraries are like half amptheater half barracks so puting great works in there is pretty important.
