Venice is either feast or famine depending on your starting location. Starting in a flat plain with almost no hammer = rage, lots lots of rage because cargo ships take so long to make. They definitely need to puppet at least one city state with their optics great merchant because you can then get a trade route that feeds + 8 food to your capital and you need the tech help. Sea trade gets plundered so often, makes me rage when the ai almost purposefully fails to clear a barb village. So far the ai seems to be more peaceful than usual, not only towards me but in general. Attila will run someone over but other than that everyone is hunky doary, with Haiwathaaaaaaaaaaa! spaming cities like its the olden days.

AI seems incredibly peaceful especially towards each other. Workers seem borked more than usual. Venice is a pain to play so expect to play defense when it comes to war. Also trade routes spread your religion so its not a Arabian UA...

Played a human only multiplayer game with some friends as my only game so far..... managing gold seems to be much harder now, as I didn't realize its a neccesity to get trade routes going early or you're fucked. Or maybe its just because I was Venice in a shit area, not sure.

Yeah AI seems way too friendly... no DoW on immortal for 130turns while only having a single archer, seems weird.

Maybe the AI waits for a UU to get to war, saw England go to war with ship of the line and the only time I got Dowed was by Bismark Landnecht (or whatever its called).

Shoshone is the most broken thing in the world. Sub 80 turn 3 city NC, with my capital at 9 pop. Pathfinders need to be nerfed.

and hte ai needs to be much more aggressive on immortal.

On turn 140 or so with Venice on Emperor and a pretty good location roll. I am loving how different the play style is, and the first time I got a Great Writer I was way too happy

175turn in as venice, didn't make a single military unit but the 4 I got when buying 2 city states, nobody DoWs me. Makes no sense -.-

For some reason random settings gave me a map consisting of eight civs including myself, six of which were on a team, while two were left to fend for themselves. It was okay for a while since it was an island map, until I saw the "world leader" crap. Naturally the team of six would vote for each other, which is how I lost control of the dumb congress anyhow, during the vote to change hosts. It didn't help that I puppet'd all the city states available (Venice).

well just like the very very basics would do, like at make it so the AI build farms on flatlands and mines on hills at the very least.

I played as Morocco last night. Setting was prince/fractal/standard game speed.

Invaded my Austrian neighbor around 1300 AD. Vienna was at a prime location--desert flood plains with plenty of hills and a couple of lux resources. I took her capital without any problems (handful of crossbows & knights) and there were no improvements around the city. No improvements at 1300 AD. Like not even a single farm or mine was seen that night.

I know right, You don't even need to save-reload anymore when popping huts.

EDIT: When popping huts, is there a tech age limit. So can I still get Classical Era tech, or is it just stuck on Ancient Era?

Opening pure piety feels kinda shitty. I think that the better move may be to go liberty for the free settler, and then switch over to piety. I haven't tested it yet though.
