You can upgrade to Civ 5 gold on Steam. That's what I did. Go to the Civ 5 page, just the vanilla one, and it gives you the option of upgrading to the gold version. Gold version has G&K expansion alongside all the DLCs. It was $20 when I did it back in February and there was no sale then. I think there's currently a sale.

When is BNW enabled?

From Steam's store page:
"Pre-Purchase Sid Meier's Civilization V: Brave New World SPECIAL PROMOTION! Offer ends 9 July"
So not until early July apparently.

Oh fuck in a month???? I thought it was next week lol.

well, that is the most random native american civ choice. a tribe that literally only dealt with the Americans.

You can bet that their decision had something to do with Sacajawea lol

I just got the gold edition for €40 the other week, and I already had Civ 5 basic before that. Feels totally worth it to pay €26 now..
Also turns out it was much harder with G&K than standard Civ 5. It's like G&K immortal is almost as hard as the old civ 5 on diety. Not sure what to do without the nice liberty start with free early settler and worker. I usually try to go for a larger militaristic empire and play 8p pangaea map default settings.. not really working out but maybe I just need to play more..

really? i felt the opposite - that deity became much easier in gods and kings.
not sure whether to get brave new world or not

I am not sure what happened there, but without the extra gold it will definitely be more difficult to play on Deity with BNW.

People will have to figure out some other way to break the game, without the lump gold payments, with the scaling down on gold production generally, and with rivers being not gold generating I think diety on anything but a small map will be unplayable.

Deity on small maps is probably as easy as before. But in general things might get harder.

I think the AI is somewhat less stupid now and before g&k I knew what to do with it especially in combat. Also the enemies seem to have better tech but maybe that's just my slow start.
But of course it's not like starting close to a militaristic AI civ = death like it used to be on old diety. Looking at the changes I'm thinking that a small empire would be much better for winning on diety in g&k. But I don't really know. What was easier for you?
Will probably end up buying BNW despite all the other stuff.

Venting + Show Spoiler +Why is diplomacy so fucked up arrrgg. Nothing but nice to japan and sweden and they both declare war and somehow have like 10 times more units then me and also better economies+tech. I fight Sweden off due to the terrible ai and then Japan just swamps me. I mean the last Civ I played was alpha centari but even that had a better system then this shit.

hah, so i finally play this game and the AI beats me on the normal difficulty pretty easily.
The Ottoman neighbour had like 4 cities really quickly, so i thought i can relax a bit since he must be exhausted by that feat, but then he suddenly declares war and takes my capital with 10 untis, haha.
But then i restart with a new map and this time i was prepared for my neighbours sneakattack and he even gave me a whole city for peace. and then its suddenly 5 am....

So I've bought the gold edition on Steam this weekend when it was on sale, and I think it's a good game based on what I've played so far. Now I have more than enough games on Steam for this summer and beyond (and we're still waiting for that big summer sale)

You guys know that there is an option to see demographies? Always keep tabs on it to see how far your army is behind.
