I'd like to see more indepth analysis on this part. I'm not sure I can fully agree or disagree with it yet. I may be able to say I agree when we're talking about BW or SC2 - but other games including chess? I'm not so sure. Are you trying to say there's a natural in born talent for gaming in general? Life? What exactly is this mysterious quality?

Unless you're Flash/Jaedong/some other godlike player, which means you have absurd natural talent and would've won at SC2 anyways, playing BW just means your fingers are already pretty nimble. Whoops I'm sure these players will get good at SC2 eventually, but they literally looked a year behind the metagame last night.

The Elephant will never die because BW-elitists will claim one/some of the following: - Not enough practice. - They were already past their prime. - SC2 is too volatile. Despite the elephant article claiming that there are 300 players will can dominate SC2.

MMA, SlayerS ace - 2-3 (40.00%) Sept 2008 - May 2009 Mvp, IM ace, GSLWC winner - 30-46 (39.47%) Apr 2008 - Aug 2010 MarineKing (Code S, two-time GSL finalist) Sept 2009 - June 2010 With the exception of MVP, these players never made it to their respective teams’ A-teams. They are listed separately because their careers in Brood War were all pretty short for one reason or another, and it would be unfair to list them with the others. For some of these guys, the reason for quitting was StarCraft II. Yeah, these guys simply recognised that bw would be phased out in a few years time, so they took the more sustainable route and and skipped right along to the game that would be played at the end of their own careers, not the beginning. I am starting to think that the players that are at the top of the SC2 game right now, will be able to stand firmly on their own legs against the influx of bw pros. It is a fun point that the influx is happening at the same time as HOTS is released, the metagame is going to be a mess for months.

![]() I mean I still enjoy watching both, but I kind of thought it was obvious that eventually SC2 would be the only game played at the pro level. The pros who are switching don't seem to have any overwhelming bad feelings towards SC2. I really don't get the strong urge of people to defend one or the other. I can see how people who didn't watch starcraft before SC2 came out would not understand the OP. I don't think unless you have followed the BW pro scene you can really understand how utterly Korea has dominated. I mean for a top foreigner to take a game off of a low level korean pro was considered a big deal. I think that Korea's obsession, history, culture, and years of training will lead to continued domination. But I don't think it will ever be as extreme as it was in the past. But I can definitely see how someone who never watched professional starcraft before SC2 would have a hard time understanding how people see things. The good news is games will be entertaining whatever happens. So we can all keep watching.

The illusion of skill in BW came from the buggy ass pathing and spells. That's it. No skill. SC2 is the far superior game in unit control, tactics and strategy.
