Anyone and everyone should know who BoxeR is. This man is not your regular old progamer who made it big. This man was an iconic legend who defined StarCraft and morphed it into what it is today. From his unbelievable Marine/Medic micro, to his dodging Lurker spikes micro, to his 3x bunker rushing YellOw in an EVER OSL semi-finals, to just being plain BoxeR, he has entered all our hearts, and has stayed there for an amazing 13 years (2012 was when this fan club was created). And so many more to come
BoxeR during BW:
BoxeR started off with Toona S.G., then went to Orion, and finally landed in the notorious SK Telecom T1. During his BW era, he provided us with so many exciting and innovative games. He developed several legendary rivalries with prestigious players like YellOw, Reach, Nal_rA, NaDa, iloveoov, ChoJJa, July, and so many more. BoxeR was an amazing player who, in his prime, just demolished the crap out of everyone in his way. Within the OSL, he achieved two 1st place titles, and four 2nd place titles. He won an MSL once, and won WCG back to back. And these titles are only a select few from his incredible list of achievements. BoxeR even continued progaming during his military service! He was able to gather many BW legends, and formed the first ever military professional BW team, Air Force ACE. When his mandatory military service ended in 2008, BoxeR did return to progaming, but unfortunately, was not able win any more titles.
Then, in October of 2010, thousands of fans' hearts shattered as BoxeR announced his retirement from BW progaming. BUT THEN, A NEW SPARK OF HOPE ARRIVED! BoxeR announced that he was not retiring as a progamer, but rather transitioning to StarCraft 2. OH THE "HALLLUJAHS" THAT RANG THROUGH THE AIR! The joy everyone felt as they realized BoxeR would not be retiring. This announcement resulted in over 750,000 people tuning in for BoxeR's debut match! (source: Liquipedia) Shortly afterwards, BoxeR made one of the biggest announcements ever that affected SCII for life. BoxeR began his own team known as "SlayerS". Within a short amount of time, hundreds of people applied to be put into the same team with the legendary emperor himself. And before you knew it, BOOM! SlayerS appeared in the GSTL. Unfortunately, unlike during his BW days, BoxeR did not see the same success in SCII. While he did have notable matches like facing old rival NaDa, and fellow previous BW progamer NesTea, BoxeR did not see much success in the GSL besides his semi-final placement during the 2010 Sony Ericsson Starcraft II Open Season 2. BoxeR however did see much success in his 2011 MLG Anaheim run, where he placed 3rd after losing to fellow teammate MMA. After this, BoxeR unfortunately dropped out of the scene entirely as he dropped to Code B and out of the GSL. Even though he climbed his way back into the GSL by placing into Code S again in the 2012 GSL Season 1, he fell to Code A by going 1-2 in his group, and then fell out back to Code B because of another tragedy. BoxeR announced that he was forfeiting his Code A Match because he was undergoing rehabilitation for his shoulder. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=329531. Later on, BoxeR announced that he would be taking a break from SC2 and that he would be leaving SlayerS to rejoin SK Telecom T1. This time, as a coach. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=360913

Thank you for those kind words . I know for a fact that I'll be working on this fan club till the day I die
after reading his bibliography and watching boxer's wing, it is so hard NOT to be a fan of him. The amount of effort he puts in, the iron will that pushes him to go on, anyone who likes Starcraft should really be a fan of him, he IS the one who made the whole starcraft scene viable.
He sees himself as an example for younger progamers to show them that the career has a future, guiding them what to do.

Just at a curiosity, what exactly is "hyungjoon becomes a progamer?" What is it about and who is hyungjoon?

Some Korean pop star, who had a reality show of him trying to make it as a progamer. Similar to the show GSL did with Yellow.
Sign me up, good sir! BoxeR was the player who convinced me that Starcraft and E-Sports in general are more than just video games, it's a true skill that requires great dedication. He's done so much for the world of Starcraft, I must be a part of this!

Not sure what his plans are. If anyone has some legit info, I'd like to know, too! He was supposed to be playing in Code A last I heard. But he had an injury and opted out of this season. I really hope he continues to play competitively. He still has it in him with practice and determination. Even if he's not the best anymore, Boxer always comes up with good Terran strategies. He's an all-around fun player to watch.
On a side note...how is the Emperor's thread only 6 pages? O_o (mind full of fluff) edit: aaahh, not the official thread. my bad. maybe the mods should lock this one so people don't get confused?

This thread is replacing the old one, since the old one can no longer be maintained. I think the older one should be locked.

Hello everyone, today my 1000th post is dedicated to my idol, Lim-Yo-Hwan himself, I thankyou so much for the great games you show and hopefully will show us in future, whenever you play I always watch you because I am always rooting for you and I am always hoping you win and have fun and show us good games like you always have. I am sorry I once doubted you when things got rough, but when you said,"though I regularly practice over 10 hours and my entire body feels like it will melt down, I hold myself up, thinking, I should live up to my name". May you have a bright future and hopefully a championship in which you so rightly deserve, thankyou
I think he will return in the darkest hour of the Terran race. There will be no Terrans in code S 1 terran in code A and in other tournaments just toss and zerg winners. In this dark hour of the Terran race our Emperor shall return and win GSL OSL and everyother MLG and dreamhack e.t.c without dropping a game, with sick bunker rushes vs zerg and mech vs protoss.

I feel the same way, it's just not the same game to me knowing I won't see BoxeR play competitively anymore Sure he might be one of the oldest players around, but with his attitude and passion I thought he could (and according to his last news) WOULD continue as a player. Hope all this confusion and sadness will turn into a happy end for him as well as for us!
posted this in another thread, maybe shoulda posted it here:
"I can't believe if Boxer is really retiring for good, or just taking a break as a coach and considering returning as a player... after having read this autobiography, it's so sad that he's giving up now... what happened to the potential 40s year old progamer? His promises of going out with a bang, after having won a big tournament? promises that he is only taking a break due to his shoulder...
anyone think the reason why boxer hasn't retired officially (is there a statement somewhere?) is because he's still considering progaming or is all hope lost and i can go sadface the rest of my life now?"
I actually believed that he was joining as a coach only temporarily, so as to not rush his shoulder healing (which can take a long time since it's been such a long problem) while also helping out his old team, but I'm losing hope ;;

I'll be honest. I too, am losing hope :/. With all the crap that went on with SlayerS, and MMA saying his contract was a slavery note straight to BoxeR, I can only imagine what kind of pain BoxeR had to go through.
GL BoxeR, wherever you go from here, we will love you no matter what.
I think there is still hope.If BoxeR really gave up on being a player,we would`ve known by now.I believe there is still fire in him and the will to win, there has to be. BoxeR hwaiting,we all love you! <3

BoxeR had one. It was created by "Fallout." But he no longer wished to be in charge so I took over. But instead of editing his old one, I just made a new one. The reason being that I have five separate pages for BoxeR, while he only had the opening post.
Boxer might have effectively retired, but here's one of the great series that Boxer played. Played during the last Iron Squid, incredible comeback in the final game.

BoxeR looked good earlier today on HotS launch stream He also seemed to be very excited, so maybe he'll comeback soon (at least after his coaching contract with T1 expires)!
Found this POV footage of BoxeR playing in the GSL Code A Qualifiers uploaded by Khaldor (he made a post on reddit). Maybe Seeker can add this to OP or something Again, thank you very much Khaldor for giving us this rare opportunity of watching our Emperor play
