Idra says nothing. Maker says GLHF....... Idra says nothing. Maker says manner up Idra says no I remember you. (He had previously cheesed him in other matches) Now Maker cheese him in like 95% of the games they verse each other. Its funny to watch,

that's y i like Husky and Day 9, husky can make boring or unimportant moments kinda cool, and whenever there's an important thing, analysis, moment, situation to comment of, there's Day 9. And again, husky can just shout whenever there's a massive killing of units

Still, I am yet to observe an interesting game with Idra commentating; so far it's been mostly boring ones and this plays a role as well. I think that's why so many people like it...

True - and there is no denying that he is impressive. Still, I feel that it is more suitable for Inside the Game or when commentating on his stream. I feel like I'm about to attract the wrath of some Idra fans now. What I'm trying to say is that Idra is too good for the general audience, so he has to dumb down a bit (to, say, Artosis level and not Husky level) in order to fit better. At the moment listening to his commentary often equals spoiling the result of the games. :D

True - but last time I played chess there were no explosions. Analysis is important and Idra is one of the few who provide quality analysis but it's not about getting technical - it's about getting too technical. Still, I am yet to observe an interesting game with Idra commentating; so far it's been mostly boring ones and this plays a role as well. Actually, in a broadcasting booth for a sports event, the color commentator - the position Idra is filling, I presume - is supposed to be the one providing "technical" commentary. He's the one who is supposed to go deeper in what he says than "out of position" or something that the [b]play-by-play[b] commentator should be saying. Any good color commentator reveals the game behind the game. That's why color commentators are usually ex-players from whatever sport they're broadcasting. At the moment listening to his commentary often equals spoiling the result of the games. :D When a superior team is playing an inferior team in the NFL and is repeatedly just busting through their offensive line to punish the hell outta their QB, and it's pointed out that the former team simply can't stop the latter, is this spoiling the game? Yes, but only in the most limited sense. If a commentator "spoils" the game, you aren't watching closely enough, you should already know who is going to win long before Idra "tells" you. What I'm trying to say is that Idra is too good for the general audience, so he has to dumb down a bit (to, say, Artosis level and not Husky level) in order to fit better. Sorry this doesn't make sense. Being too good the way you're saying it... you're saying that since Idra is "too good" as a player, he has to to "dumb down" his commentary so we will understand it. Sorry, I'm not that buying that... There is absolutely no difference in understanding of the game between players like Idra and anyone from diamond league up. The only difference is in execution. Idra has superior talent at taking what is in his head and making it real on the screen. That doesn't mean that people simply cannot understand what he is doing or why; it means they can't do it themselves. I just don't understand how not being able to play at Idra's level means that you can't understand the game at his level, all it means is you can't play at his level. Not everyone can run an offense at the level of Tom Brady or scheme a defense at the level of Dick LeBeau, that doesn't mean we don't understand how a crossing route or the zone blitz works. I mean, what do you think Idra could possibly say while commentating a game, about the game, that would fly over your head?

I disagree. I disagree entirely. Execution =!= understanding. I've never seen Idra (or any pro) say or do something I didn't understand his reasoning, and if you actually tried to quantify how many times better he is than I am you'd probably have to go to like 25x plus.

The fact that you (and lots of people) can understand what IdrA's saying doesn't mean that his level of comprehension of the game is the same as yours. Don't forget that IdrA spend a lot of his time figuring out possible new styles of play, new build, etc. Things that your average diamond/master player wouldn't be able to do so easily. PS: I understand whatever IdrA says, but it doesn't mean I have the same level of understanding than him.

I guess that's why IdrA didn't do the best he ever did at the OSL qualifiers 3 months after the SC2 beta came out. Oh wait, he did.
