Also his concise information giving is great. e.g. after a drop he summarized in 2 sentences if it was worth it and what the player could do now etc....

In football, a commentator like him usually stays silent for most of the time to balance it out.. Otherwise it gets way too technical. The difference is, almost everybody who watches Starcraft knows the game from playing it themselves, while the average football wathcer only knows it from watching it. (Also: I would die of happiness if TV would replace all those stupid ass football commentators who don't know shit about the game with people with some actual knowledge).

Yeah, it's sort of a different sport than football. You wouldn't complain about a chess commentator getting technical would you? =b

Analysis is important and Idra is one of the few who provide quality analysis but it's not about getting technical - it's about getting too technical. Idra's casting at the moment is more like giving us (free) lessons. Still, I am yet to observe an interesting game with Idra commentating; so far it's been mostly boring ones and this plays a role as well.

I think a lot of that comes from the fact the gretorp is also supposed to fit the role of the quieter analytical caster, generally having two of those makes for a less interesting cast. I think when you pair him with someone like Incontrol you might get a completely different result.

Not a bad word about Incontrol or Gretorp, but sometimes they say stuff about zergs reaction in a situation which is just plain wrong. And IdrA knows more about terran and protoss than either gretorp or incontrol does about zerg.

True. However, his co-casting with DJWheat don't work for me either, although this is mostly due to Wheat's knowledge of SC2 not being good enough.. So what happens is that Idra takes more responsibility and the cast becomes unbalanced.
