To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

It's not the dress's fault, that style is simply for thinner women that have more defined curves. I know you're being sarcastic, but I'm saying this because there are those of you who genuinely think her outfit is attractive.

I don't get it. you say the dress was terrible. then talk abut her silhouette, then says its not the dress's fault, then state that you are only saying this because people think her outfit is attractive.

so what exactly are you saying? the dress is ugly and fany wearing it makes it even worse?

long willowy dresses on broader people tend to make them look even wider and shapeless. should've done a deeper vneck, strapless, or a dress with a higher waistline imo.

I generally don't dress up to ride in an airplane, but that's just me.

No, I know, I was trying to be smarmy and sarcastic. Really, we need a sarcasm tag or something around here.

No, I agree that idols probably should dress up any time they may be in public and have their picture taken (airport is obvious), but I find it really hard to care if they don't. I generally like their casual stuff anyway, but I'm not the kind of fan to freak out if my bias isn't dressed to the nines every second of the day. Maybe it's just me being lazy 'merican.

I'm adding this post because I feel it contributes to the current discussion and is not a rehash of unconfirmed rumors etc. There are actual testimonials from real kpop celebs who confirmed that these things happened.

http://www.allkpop.com/2012/07/two-more-idol-groups-suspected-of-bullying

An interesting article outlining the dynamics of group bullying and newcomers to groups midway through the process. Establishes that this sort of dynamic is common among K-Pop groups.

Most interesting quote: Shinhwa‘s secret to maintaining a good relationship for 14 years also lies in their communication skills. Leader Eric had stated, “While promoting, there are times when we get sensitive, which later erupts into fights. There are a lot of instances where we even physically fought each other. There were issues, but we ended it there. We all worked hard to resolve them through communication.”

IMO, it's already an intense enough rivalry among people who debut together. When you add members halfway through, especially when the group is already on top, that's pretty much dumping gasoline on a fire. IMO, it's almost never a good idea to add new members to a group unless it's to replace an outgoing one or there's a complete change in concept/look to try to revive an ailing group.

So i've been a long time lurker and occasional poster in TL. Never really bothered with the threads in general though too much. But I discovered this thread recently, and I think it's awesome.

Cute/hot asian girls everywhere, catchy music, tons of drama (got here right when the T-ARA shit storm hit), and the occasional "LOL did you just post that? some internet people are weird..." things. LOVE this thread! :D I think I'll try to stick around as long as I don't get too distracted with irl stuff.

This t-ara thing has been the best entertainment in kpop so far this year.

Some other things that haven't been posted here, spoilers are for those of you who don't have diadem accounts:
[12.07.31] Core Contents Media trainee's post about T-ara becomes a hot topic:
source
+ Show Spoiler +
An article written online by a trainee has been attracting a lot of attention.

In the post they wrote, "I'm currently a trainee at GM Media = Core Contents Media = Mnet Media (3 related companies) for the past two years. Seeing the T-ara incident has made me frustrated. After making this post, I decided to quit being a trainee and will disappear."

She continued by saying, "Hwayoung made her debut on December 3rd, 2010 and I became a trainee on April 18, 2010. Our company goes to the practice room while we practice to look at our cell phones and wallets. You're screwed for life if you're here. When T-ara had a day off, they visited the studio. Hyomin gathered all the trainees who were preparing for debuts and said we should all introduce ourselves to each other."

"I heard someone say that Hot Blooded Kangho was dating Jiyeon. They (Jiyeon/Kangho) asked me my age, where I live, my ID, etc, and I told them. Then I heard Kangho say, 'This bitch hasn't smoked? Idiot. Let's take her to a club tonight.' There was also one time where Jiyeon threw a high-heeled shoe at me. I still have the scar."

The authenticity of this post is unclear but it's became a hot topic amongst netizens in light of the recent T-ara drama.

[12.07.30] YAMA&HOTCHICKS Bae Youngjong, "The post is not true"':
source
+ Show Spoiler +
T-ara's dance team YAMA&HOTCHICKS' team captain Bae Youngjong has responded to the recent post posted on the Internet about T-ara saying that the incident is completely false.

Bae Youngjong captain revealed, "This place is a public location where any outsider or celebrity can freely walk into so such harassment and beatings would have been impossible to have taken place."

T-ara's agency Core Contents Media has said, "The malicious things being written on the Internet and in various articles related to T-ara are written without any verification or confirmation."

Core Contents Media terminated Hwayoung's contract yesterday and afterwards, a back-up dancer for T-ara revealed online that "T-ara's Jiyeon slapped Hwayoung in the practice room" and that the girls "don’t want to sit by her in the car so they blatantly play rock, paper, scissors right in front of her face (to decide who sits by her)." It quickly became a hot topic in the news.

[12.07.31] T-ara's agency, "We will take legal action against creators of back-up dancer and trainee posts":
source
+ Show Spoiler +
Core Contents Media will take legal action over the false testimonies being posted online to protect Hwayoung and T-ara.

Core Contents Media said on the 31st, "There are accounts being posted in the online cafe T-jinyo (We want the truth from T-ara) that are later being published as articles before being confirmed. We will take legal action to protect Hwayoung and T-ara."

"Tajinyo (We want the truth from Tablo) created a big bruise in the music industry in the end of 2010. T-jinyo is also becoming controversial now. From these unconfirmed reports being published, not only are T-ara and Hwayoung suffering, but their parents are too, so I ask the press not to publish unconfirmed reports. The 'back-up dancer post' as well as the 'second-year trainee post' are all false and we will seek to take legal action against people saying these things."

All of this is happening because of the recent decision from CCM to cancel T-ara's Hwayoung's contract.

[12.07.31] T-ara to temporarily halt activities
source
+ Show Spoiler +
After Hwayoung left T-ara, the group has suffered and will now stop activities for the time being.

Tomorrow (August 1st) T-ara will perform at the SBS "Yeosu Expo Super Concert" which will be their last performance/schedule for a while.

T-ara's agency said on the 31st, "In order to prepare for their follow-up song, they will not engage in any schedules at this time. It's not a suspension of activities, but more that we haven't specifically determined (schedules) yet."

T-ara had schedules lined up, but they've canceled and haven't been seen in public instead. T-ara member Eunjung initially was supposed to attend the VIP premiere of the movie "I Am A King" yesterday but she absent from the premiere.

Core Contents Media made an announcement to terminate Hwayoung's contract with T-ara because she acted like a "top star" and had behavior problems on the 30th and since then there has been backlash after backlash.

Well if anything, I'm sure that if there has been any ongoing bullying in other groups, they will be hesitant to keep it up considering what happened to T-ARA. Plus, now that the issue has been raised, a lot of managers will probably be more cognizant and try to keep it under control. And if worse comes to worse, I'm sure everyone can learn how NOT to handle the pr situation lol

^I think most other companies can keep shit more private than CCM can, their management isn't terrible. Maybe keep a closer eye on what people post on twitter but other than that I can't see any more action taken- no one would have found about about the bullying- hell no one has found out about any bullying for sure- if it wasn't for the tweets.

Halting activities first sensible action they've taken yet. I have to imagine they vastly underestimated the reaction they'd get cause they said they'd continue to promote as normal...so stupid. Then again, I imagine they would be able to keep promoting if it had just been the Hwayoung removal and not the tweets.

I can't believe people (see netizens) actually care about shit like this at this magnitude.

If people get bullied in real life then what makes people think it doesn't happen in idol groups?

Because "OPPAR (UNNIE) DIDN'T MEAN IT"

or because after a decade+ of being told that their idols are perfect and nice and shit they started to believe it, and so are outraged when it turns out to be false.

Also where's da Minra? Can't mention Minra and not indicate any Minra

idols arent supposed to be like real life

it blew up to this magnitude because of how everything was portrayed... everything has been spun to present 6-ara in the worst possible light and to present hwayoung in the best one. by the time anyone tried to say anything against hwayoung, it was too late. rumors and shit went crazy already and now there are literally too many people supporting hwayoung for anything to be said on 6-ara's side because its the latest netizen fad.

Anyone remember that facebook official kind of k-pop parody by a group named Heart 2 Heart? Well AKF recently made a post and the leader is going solo... The teaser is out...

When the first M/V I was unsure, like many other people, whether it was a really expensive parody (the work they put in the M/V was quite impressive) or a really bad real thing going on... And now this horrible teaser (but still with high production value on the M/V) is out... I'm speechless.
