The new Fate/Zero website just went online. It has a cast list and not much else. Edit: But man, I could look at that art all day. Edit 2: + Show Spoiler [Amagami 25] + What the fuck was that? Risa is a huge fucking bitch. What a horrible final episode. Edit 3: gg's batch for Togainu no Chi is the best thing ever. They re-encoded all the episodes to be 80MB in size.

EDIT: I hope the manga has more of this time-fluctuation. Thought the OVA was excellent, probably one of the best 'animes' I've seen so far.

I thought most of the story arcs had been covered in the manga o.o I'm definitely glad there's more left to cover. vol10 has been delayed for like the last four years, though, lol. I don't think it'll ever come out...

Well, it's a, as you'd expect, a short, amateur'ish novel. The characters are better fleshed out than in a manga, since it's a "book" (novel). It tells a story, like a book, but it's very light hearted and very easy to read/follow. It is a lot more detailed than an anime, since the author wasnt constricted by anything and could write exactly what he wanted and how he wanted.

Some of these include (and don't hate me...) Blood+, Shugo Chara, One Piece. Does this happen to anyone else? Also: Just finished the Haruhi movie (fairly good, would recommend people check it out). I've been getting bored lately with free time and I need something to fill the void in my heart that only anime can =) Yeah....watch School Days as a rite of passage. + Show Spoiler + A rite I have wisely yet to take. ![]() What do you consider a short Anime series? What do you like to see in an Anime? And in terms of "relatively unknown" that's hard to gauge too. Right now, I'm on a Katanagatari love trend. Probably because it was my favorite Anime this year. >.>. So I'd recommend that. An anime that's relatively unknown seems to be Bounen no Xam'd. It's actually a pretty kickass series, though one character blatantly pissed the shit out of me that I almost wanted to stop watching. >.> If you're looking for slice of life like Haruhi...then... Clannad Kanon Air K-ON! & K-ON!! Those were made by the same studio that made Haruhi...for some reason I liked them a lot....but I have yet to know why.. Anime that was popular this year it seems was... The World God Only Knows Oreimo (don't know the rest of the name) Durarara! To Aru Majutsu no Index (lol) If anyone else has anything to add, that'd be good. Someone had a REALLY GIGANTIC ASS POST a few pages back, so check there too. And.........yeah....At least these were all that I watched this year. I've long since watched school days, back when it was released + Show Spoiler + WOWOWOWOW FREAK OUT MUCH? But yeah, a short series as like anything around or below 26 episodes? The only exception I have made to this rule is gintama, for the sole reason that it doesn't revolve around a central plot and can generally be watched as one-offs (much like the simpsons. It gives off that kind of vibe). On that note, however, I have yet to see Clannad or Kanon (are those kind of old? I remember checking them out but favorable art style is kind of a big deal for me). I've seen the Air movie, which was awesome, but at the same time sums up the series quite nicely, so I see little point in going back to rewatch it when I pretty much know the storyline/background. K-ON! was okay, but I didn't find it was all it was hyped up to be. I watched a little of the second season when it came out but it caught my eye even less. The World Only God Knows is gooooood =D keeping up with that one. Durarara! was good too. To Aru Majutsu no index though... idk, that along with Railgun (it's predecessor) are both animes that, as I have mentioned, failed to spark a lot of interest in me in the first few eps. As for what I look for in a series, it's rather hard to explain. Generally, good art is a MUST for me. It's why I was put off by Gintama for quite a while, but after watching for a while I grew to love it. Humour or comedic relief is a factor too. This is why I gave up on blood+ as the series got WAY too dark and serious for me. Not into all the mecha and action all too much. I feel that character development is more interesting than mecha battles. The last mecha anime I enjoyed was Full Metal Panic! and I liked Fumoffu (the gag season) much more than the first or third season. I'm not too opposed to shoujo animes either (although there is such a thing as being too cheesy...). Generally though, stuff like Toradora, Haruhi (excluding endless eight), Gintama and FMP are animes that I enjoy. I guess you could say slice of life + comedy based with good art and character development? When I say I've watched a fair few, I mean a FAIR few lol. xD The huuuge post a ways back doesn't give me any new material to work with really... + Show Spoiler + The scene where Kyon got 'mad' at Haruhi my literal expression was =_= because if I hadn't read the light novel before hand I'd be like lawl wtf I plan to keep getting them but I can only comment on those 3 with my opinion. Are the oreimo LN translated somewhere? And is there a plan to release them in US? Toradora LN coming in March 2011 \o/

And then we have awesomes like the AHEAD series, Zaregoto, and bungaku shoujo. The last book to Owari no Chronicle is like a good thousand pages lol. The whole thing about light novels not being 'standard' literature is honestly pretty wrong. The designation did originally suggest a novella-esque approach (particularly with length), but as times went on, it more or less changed its meaning to point to novels w/ illustration content that is typically shorter, but not necessarily so. The style sometimes are like that of a serialized work published in magazines, but for the most part these books are written one vol at a time. The problem with prizes always exist, but tbh good series will stand out over time. OreImo's quality imo has gone up over the last couple of books, and some Haruhi books, particularly Disappearance, stood out far beyond the rest. So yeah, I completely can't agree with the quoted post. You should expect just as much from light novels as you would any standard novel and novella. About the simultaneous release for Haruhi, I don't think English is even up to vol 9 yet so I don't know how they intend to release Surprise ![]()

About the simultaneous release for Haruhi, I don't think English is even up to vol 9 yet so I don't know how they intend to release Surprise ![]() i dun really understand how oreimo has gone up in the recent volumes. perhaps the english translator has done a very good job of making the story a better thing to read or perhaps people havent translate much of ireimo... but then what i heard from the chinese anime cirlces are "the story of oreimo are becoming stranger" as it progresses to volume 6 and i have the same feeling after reading it. + Show Spoiler + its pretty strange when you read the ayase trying to ask what she could do for the brother and the brother said, "marry me". wtf???? and i havent read the english version of haruhi but i have the chinese offical version from taiwan kadokawa. yes, i agree that dissappearance is a very good volume. but its an exception. look at the others outside disappearance and melancholy, they are indeed very boring stories. no, i am not trying to troll. i am fans of oreimo and haruhi but i just cant deny it. another example is shana. i borrow the books from my friend and i only read 3 of it. i am sure that the translator (yet again, taiwan chinese offical) tried her very best to keep the way it is presented in japanese and the presentation style turns out to be very confusing. not only its presentation style, fans are actually losing their interest of the story as it is dragged. these could be observed in some recent threads of a taiwanese anime fan bbs. i am sure that there is some good series out there. perhaps spice and wolf is one of them. but i just dun want to read it anymore so i stopped at the middle of volume 5. and i still have volume 6 and 7 unopened!. but then i believe that story is great and with depth. still, i wouldnt give much expectations to the light novels. if most of them aren't below par, why bother about using the name light novels at the very beginning? it is a way of packaging this stories although i understand that LN later became a name tighted with ACG so they kept using this name. particularly those who get a prize for their first book and have a series out after that. look, they were designed to be finished with one book, weren't they? no offense. just trying to discuss ![]()

I'm not so much into plot as I am for humour and good art/animation. I'd recommend Kanon (2006), for a bunch of reasons. 1. It's one of my favorite shows. 2. It has really nice art, if you are ok with the character designs. Blu ray version is out and looks gorgeous. For a 26 episode TV series, this is among the best art you'll see. 3. It's somewhat humorous and once you get past the slow beginning (like, the first 7 episodes or so >_>) I found it riveting. It is split into distinct story arcs however, so if you don't like a somewhat fragmented story it might not be for you. 4. It takes place in winter and winter plays a major role in the show's mood. Basically, now's the time to watch it, unless you wait ten months or something. 5. I'm a sucker for sappy, outlandish melodrama. The best light novel I've ever read was Disappearance, and as a novel I found it mediocre at best. Basically, I haven't found any LNs that I would read for reasons other than knowing what happens next in anime that end awkwardly. Maybe Baka Tsuki translators just suck, and the novels are better in Japanese, I dunno.

I guess if they pull of the adaption properly, it should be one, if not THE top hit of 2011 (given it's released that year). Only thing missing now to completely enjoy the fate/ universe would be a translation of Fate/Ataraxia, but I guess that's still gonna take a while. I thought I read yesterday that Mahōtsukai no Yoru , Type-Moons new visual novel`, would be released today, however when I looked it up just now there isn't an exact date anymore. Anyone could some info on that?
