Oh well, it was still pretty amusing. Which is exactly why I'm waiting on the Tuesday release of the uncensored version of episode 12. I really like To Love-Ru, it's just simple silly fun and fanservice with lots of nice and crazy girls.
Does any site host the uncensored versions? Or is it just TokyoToshkan and the like sites that have torrents that are uncersored versions?

I get the Chihiro version via torrent each week, so I don't know if there are direct downloads available anywhere.
Edit: It's also in a lower resolution compared to the censored version but still very watchable. For the high quality uncensored version, you have to wait for the Bluray (which is currently ongoing).

Katanagatari can't even compare to those two. I think Katanagatari is worth reading if you are into the whole parody and meta heavy style, I certainly had a good laugh when I read it, but it isn't amazing or anything. As for Suzumiya, if vol 7 is the one with Asahina taking that important role then yeah, only other book other than 1 and 4 that's good. As for Disappearance's value as a novel...well I found it better than a ton of stuff I read in English lol Did you watch the Anime by any chance? I really don't read the light novels, especially if they're translated, so I wouldn't know how they compare....but the Anime I uber enjoyed. I watched those too, only thing about the anime that I really liked would be Nanami, other than that the books were better to me.

Wow......I liked Nanami too, but I found most of the characters equally if not more likable.
But maybe I'm biased because I really liked Katanagatari. It was definitely my favorite out of most of the Animes that I've watched thus far.....
That being said...do you mind recommending me some Anime? I'm interested to see what you like, because I like to try new things.

seriously this shit is amazing -- well, i'm hoping the 3rd episode will be able to equal what the first had. Gundam Unicorn is the by far the best animated Real Robot mecha show out there. Nothing really comes close. Gurren Lagann can get close, but its a very different style of Mecha (Super Robot, as opposed to Real). Macross Frontier had very good/well animated battles as well, if you are looking for other Real Robot stuff. Gundam Unicorn is an OVA series, so most of the Gundam series themselves can't really hold a candle to Unicorn's animation, beyond a few gems here or there.

I've seen Eden of the East recommended in one of these posters under "awesome backgrounds" and since I love high quality backgrounds/art and high production values in general I watched it. Really really good, nice story and one of the best openings I've seen so far. But far too short. Are the movies decent and should I get them? The movies explain nothing. They look pretty, but they don't really advance the story at all.

Look what I got for Christmas:

Anyone else get any anime-related stuff this Christmas?

I got the English translations of the first 4 Haruhi LNs. Well, I was supposed to get them for Christmas, but 2 got lost in the snow chaos and will (probably) arrive early next year. Guess which books went missing? + Show Spoiler +1 and 3, so I can't even start to read them properly. But I guess it would be funny if Disappearance had disappeared too.

What subbers do you guys recommend generally for anime? I know the best place would be TokyoToshokan to find the torrents. Also, is there any visible difference between 720p and 1080p? I decided to first DL a recent, easy to find anime like Angel Beats! and a personal favourite GitS:SAC Do you guys have external HDs for this kind of hobby or just dump everything on your desktop's HD?
Also, can anyone recommend Library Wars (Toshokan Senso)? This title has been nagging at me for a long time now, but I never really got around to watching it. It seems to be surprisingly hard to find. My usual go-to sites (anime44 and animecrazy) don't have it. Had to find it on animedreaming, but didn't start watching yet.

UTW and Mazui are considered good groups. gg and coalguys can be good depending on your taste in subbing practices. Beyond that, use http://www.ji-hi.net/ to figure out who's good.
1080p is obviously higher quality than 720p, but if you're just watching on your computer (like me), you're not going to be able to tell the difference.
At the end of a season, I can have around 20-40GB of stuff downloaded. Since I don't have that much space on my PC to spare, most of this gets deleted because it sucks. The shows I really liked are archived on an external HDD.

I just got a new computer for Christmas; posting from it for the first time. The HDD is only 200 GB though, so I'm gonna have to get an external HDD eventually. But, now I can re-torrent everything and keep up with the winter season :D
|
I have a 1TB HDD (and various smaller additional HDDs) at the moment, but anime content is only about 300 GB at the moment, so there is still enough room for additional stuff.
Edit: My favorite subbing groups are/were UTW, Mazui, Chihiro, Doki, SS, Eclipse. gg are pretty good too. I try to stay the hell away from anything Coalgirls related because of their filesizes.
About the winter season: I've checked out the promotional trailers and additional materials (and some reviews), because the poster wasn't that helpful for some series.
I think I've finalized my plans for the season. I'll take a look at GOSICK and Hourou Musuko because I'm interested in the story first of all. After seeing the trailer and additional materials, I'll follow IS next, even though the story sounds not that interesting at first, the trailer battles and the seiyuu are great.
The news articles made me consider Fractale too, apparently the creators said that they will stop making anything at all if that series fails, because they are so confident. I guess I can take a look at it.
I guess it would be easier to put it into a list.
Will watch: GOSICK, Hourou Musuko, IS: Infinite Stratos, Moshidora Will try: Fractale, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (unless it is like Bakemonogatari) Won't watch: The rest, unless highly recommended after the season starts Already dropped: Haiyoru! Nyaruani (unfunny stupid Flash crap)

Fractale is the only one I'm waiting eagerly for... and have been waiting for it for some months :d
|
I'll wait for Southlight to try out some stuff while I get started on the GENESIS series probably?

<(゜ロ゜; )>ノォオオオオオ!!
I am a sacrifice
I dunno, this upcoming season has been depressing for many months now.

Don't know what to watch.
After Toradora, I just ran out of things to watch after the last couple of episodes of this season ran out and my love for Katanagatari has swept almost all the other Animes off the face of my mind.
I was thinking about Bakemonogatari....but iono.....
I seriously need some new recommendations again. Anything. I was actually hoping Ecael would give me something since he seemed to have different tastes. I like new genres...though horror is usually way out of my comfort zone....so please nothing too gruesome.

Bakemonogatari is fairly popular, but I didn't like it. IMO you need a good understanding of the Japanese language to enjoy it. The show has alot of word-play, and alot of talking. And a really tsudere Tsudere. But regardless if I like it or not, it must do something right, considering it does have a fairly large fanbase.
What sort of anime are you looking to watch?

At this point, I'm open to almost anything. I mean, here's the list of what I just watched recently:
Toradora Katanagatari (favorite out of all of them so far) Durarara! Eureka Seven
I mean....right there all the stories are pretty different from each other and are in different genres or whatevers.
So anything that you like I'll give it a shot!
