Probably? I'm baffled right now, can you even forget such things...even with knowing their names? If you don't count the 18+ games, it definitely doesn't look good. Some time ago, when I finished Battle Moon Wars I looked for more games like that(non 18+) and the only thing I found was Farland Symphony. I really like grid based games but the known ones are all console games(Disgaea, Super Robot Wars etc) and I don't really like the controls there(PC is much better). So it's a good thing, that those VNs-hybrids(or whatever you want to call them) are being made. Without them the PC would be pretty much a dead platform regarding games like this.

4 years ago is a lot, I reread Suzumiya a fair amount of times and now I feel rather pressured to reread the series in light of vol 10 coming out, and that's less than 4 years of a gap T.T Werk technically counts as doujin, no? And it isn't even like a Melty Blood kind of doujin eventually getting acknowledgement from T-M, at least, far as I can recall there has been nothing of that kind. But anyhow, Western games just aren't really into that grid based tactic games, and the Asian side of things are heavily invested on the console front. When I was young I used to have more Taiwanese games to look forward to, but that too has failed me. So yeah...basically the niche of PC tactical RPGs are like, completely reliant on eroges. I have never been so thankful for doujin products as now, heh. But yeah, I personally play most of that on the console, and anything on the PC of that kind I recall quite fondly, probably due to rarity. Anyway now to find my copy of battle moon wars too, I miss that denpa song that is Amber's theme.

The sad state of the non-mmo market there has nothing to do with this, yep. Something about that game amused me to no end while I played it in spite of everything you said to be true. Well, can't comment on game balance since I barely remember that side. To qualify the above though, I personally quite enjoyed the games by Kogado Studio, especially the kuma-san team. PH, DVD is not out yet. Stryker, the OST is out. Link to OST plz???

Sounds troubling. I couldn't stand it if I had to reread something just because there is a sequel(or something) coming out and I'm not able to remember a thing. That would be...like a waste of time. Yes, they publish and develop doujin games. I didn't play any other games made by them but they sure do look that way. I never heard anything about that either but since the game is awesome, I really would like to know what T-M think about the game/Werk. I used to play all kinds of games but since most of them didn't really change they became boring. Now, the only interesting thing is the depth of something. Gameplay with depth is something too hard to accomplish(apparently), so I stick to the depth of characters/story. But there aren't many genres where you can find that...basically just RPGs and of course VNs and VN-hybrids. I like tactical RPGs too, so that's kind of convenient that they use it for these kind of games. So I have to be thankful too, without them I wouldn't play games anymore. And, what I really like, these games are pretty cheap but have an enormous play time. Dead Space(for example) cost 50$ with a play time of 7 hours and no replay value. Battle Moon Wars cost not even half the money and you can play 50+ hours. Hm, I don't like that theme. I prefer Harunas Seventh Moon(with Natsuki) and Kiritsugus+Iris Lover's Twin Flight.

For rereading/playing something, well, I think that varies from people to people. The amount of time we take on a single read-through might also be different. For the Haruhi thing, it isn't so much that I can't remember a thing, it is that I can't remember every single detail. So looks like the degree that we care might differ as well. Most things I am content with that general feeling of enjoyment, but for the things that I really like, that calls for encyclopedic knowledge. In the case of Haruhi though it is just that a reread sounds like it is in order since I barely touched the franchise even with the second season. But with that said, I am an odd one even among my circle of reader friends in that I have just about no qualm against rereading thing. Most people seem to lose that first read feel of...novelty, I suppose, as they know the events. I tend to be able to ignore that and enjoy things a lot anyway. Though the badly written parts just stay bad and I anticipate the pain so it becomes worse >< C77 from Werk was some Railgun version of Rockman, was pretty boring unfortunately. But BMW is brilliant and has quite good replay value thanks to different routes. As for how T-M thinks of it...I wonder, it didn't reach that level of popularity that Melty Blood did, but perhaps at some point it'll be acknowledged. I think Werk has some understanding with them though, since it is really a commercial venture that specializes in these kinds of spin-off products. The way they forced storylines together makes it really difficult to make anything out of it though. MB at least had the grace of somehow working with Ciel's true route (aka conveniently made route ending). That cost argument is so totally unfair lol, indie and doujin games have to win on the gameplay, system and story front. Trying to compete graphics wise is just suicidal ![]() I didn't so much like that denpa song as it was just denpa, not sure how to qualify that any better. It was also so totally in line with Amber and the combat animations (Himawari~!). One song that particularly stood out to me though was the theme song for Araya Souren, really has that level of intensity and intimidation that he has about him. Haruna's songs after weapon change and 7th moon were both excellent, and Kiritsugu + Iris was brilliant (I went as far as to keep a save of that stage until they patched in the music box). In general though, I quite liked the music from BMW. While most are just remixes of some sort, some of them were really catchy in an odd way. That song with Shikiroa (what was the name again, Shiroaki or something?) is yet another song that just gets stuck in my head...I should look for the OST actually, it somehow never saw torrent. In my case it is borderline problem lol, as much as I hoot for bungaku shoujo I still can't remember random misc. details. There was a whole thing in vol 1 involving Nanase getting change from Konoha (All those t-m talk had my hand automatically typing out first Kohaku, then Kokutou, and only after considerable delay did I finally get out our poor protagonist's name) that was worked into events in vol 7, I had to go back to vol 1 and reread random scenes and be amazed at how many little notes the author dropped on that matter.

Personally I think Rance7 and EienShinken were fantastic from a gameplay element (Rance's shield-group and commander mechanics were brilliant, while the Attacker/Defender/Support engine for EienShinken added a twist to the traditional genre) and it's sort of a shame no one's picked up on them (no news from Alice and Eternal kinda butchered A/D/S in Yumina). I think particularly in the mainstream you have more of a movement (in the RPG front) toward action RPGs, especially because more and more companies are capable of affording them, and because they cater to a larger audience. Like Tales, Ys, Bayonetta, etc. and when you end up with a semi-action RPG you get nice stuff like both Valkyrie series (Chronicles and Legend), Odin Sphere, Grandia, that sort of stuff. I don't think you'll see quality versions of that in indie games anytime soon, because those take significantly more resources to produce. @Ecael おじいちゃん☆ 老人ボケはキ☆ヲ☆ツ☆ケ☆テ♪ Edit: I know this is still careening seriously off-topic in this thread, but you know what was a frustratingly tantalizing combat system? Last Remnant. People should seriously pick up on that and polish it because it was so close to being revolutionary, IMO.

Battle Moon Wars had 100% positive reactions wherever I saw it, but that was just the english-speaking community. I don't know what the Japanese thought/think of this game but I can't imagine any negative responses. I don't even know whether it was a real success or not. Too little is known outside of Japan and people here don't care about it. Anyway, I really hope BMW will spawn a sequel or a similar game. It's just too good to be forgotten. Hm, whatever the reason, I'm happy. I don't care about the graphics and I don't care about fanservice but if it's something to make people buy this, why not. But I think Japanese people like tactical games anyway. Maybe it's just their nature or it's because they always had these kinds of games(Fire Emblem for example). Here, we had...Jagged Alliance+sequels and...anything else? RoSHIaKI? Well, I don't like "their" theme so much but I have to agree. In general, the music of BMW was really catchy. You could download the youtube videos and extract the songs but I guess that would take quite some time. (God, I'm so tired and I don't know why)

I laughed when Renton suddenly decided to become Kiro Yamato. The random guy who saved Renton from starvation reminded me of Tom Bombadil for some reason. Apparently Bakemonogatari ep 15 is done and being encoded.
