Summer Preview. You can also find the Spring preview somewhere in there. I visit that site less and less since Omni left, though, since Dvine and my taste are significantly different. I don't think any of us actually watched enough on the spring list to give it a comprehensive coverage. As for me, I'll be catching Mago, Sengoku Basara 2, and The Legend of the Legendary Heroes for sure. thx for the link ![]() Sarai-ya Goyou (Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei) (no group really covering this one Oo) Giant Killing Arakawa Under the Bridge

I guess the plot of Angel Beats is pretty much done at this point? The preview implied that the final episode would just be tying up loose ends. I can't help but feel that the entire plot was kinda underwhelming. They spent half the season fighting Kanade who they thought was god/acting for god, spent one episode fighting Naoi who said he was god, spent a couple episodes doing nothing, then spent two more episodes fighting shadow things to get to god. + Show Spoiler + And then it turns out that there is no god. -_- It's like they have no concrete goal (which, in retrospect, might actually be true). The lack of tragedy I expected from Key didn't help my appreciation for this series either. Where did Kanade get Angel Player from, anyway? On June 21 2010 21:41 NB wrote: i dun know/care about what other said about AB. all i know is that the anime is really different from the others that i hv watched so far. the music, animation, plot literally blow my mind on the first time i watch it but i have to admit that the story has lots of potential to advance up to 30+ eps and they just about to cut it off right here is kinda ignorance X-(.... FAREWELL AB ^^ P/S: could smbody tell me what 'VN' stands for, kinda new to this thread xD Watch Clannad, it's a better example of what we expected from Key. VNs are visual novels. The only thing you do is read, look at the occasional picture/sprite, and make decisions. They're fantastic if you like books.

Nope, that's wrong. There are visual novels where you actually play(a lot) and there are visual novels where you don't make any decisions.

What can I say about the ending? I thought it was great but also disappointing at the same time. I like that shinji was finally able to finally find his selfworth which is what the entire series was about, but I dislike that everything else was left unfinished and unexplained. I'll watch the movie sometime soon and maybe that will tie some of the loose end for me. As for Angel Beats, it just kind of seems like they are all over the place and does not seem to know the direction they are going with the show, and a lot of the characters are left undeveloped. It could have turned into a great show given more time. I don't know what keys was thinking trying to fit all of this into 13 episodes. But I still love Kanade and the music is just awesome so I'll keep on watching it. Next series I'm planning to watch is Kimi ni Todoke, is it any good?

The 13 episodes thing for AB was probably just a practical limitation on budget, can't expect people to dump in money for 24~26 episodes even if it is Key ![]() As I plan out my summer round of book purchases~

From my experience i'm not really into the anime comedy stuff were some guy makes a fool of himself all the time, I really enjoy the more serious stuff, if u know what I mean. Like something tragic and something that would bring emotions to the surface. My main problem is that I really dont have a clue which animes are considered quality shows and which arent. Reading through whole this thread wouldn't be a practical either but i've found a few nice shows from this thread before ![]()

Hideyoshi has me questioning my sexuality. To combat this, I've switched targets to the Kinoshita twins, and not just Hideyoshi. Also, if it were genderbent, there would be female activist people thingies going crazy about the abuse.

Yes, games like Gadget Trial and Sengoku Rance are regarded as Visual Novels. Gadget Trial is a pure Advance Wars clone with some pictures you can view later on via the main menu...and that's it. Sengoku Rance offers different routes and decisions you have to make(and pictures too) but most of the time you just play. 10 years ago VNs were basically just text+pictues, different routes and voice acting were more like an extra but in the past 3-5 years the definition changed...or rather it became more vague. That's why some games without former key elements and different "gameplay" are regarded like this. I definitely prefer the old definition but most people support the new one.

Thank you Teamliquid ![]() E7 is "ok", it gets carried by the female lead and the supporting cast. The back story behind the 2 parties is what drives it. Renton was the reason I almost dropped it because of his annoying attitude; his coming of age doesn't make him any better, it just makes him bearable. The "action" scenes are pretty bland and the villain is hardly a villain (call him prototype-Schneizel). The music was well done and really fit the theme. The settings and locale was well done as well with its incorporation into the episodes. Other than that it's pretty average, it has a strong finish once Renton's little voyage starts and that's what people tend to remember.
