A year late to the party, but I just marathoned Shinsekaiyori in three days. Why was this anime so poorly received / overlooked? It was an order of magnitude better than Psycho-Pass for me, at least.

There was a pretty big drop in animation quality near the middle of the series that I'm guessing they fixed in the BD release so you dont notice it as much. thats what drove off my friend anyway.

No, I think a lot of people here liked it too, but I read that it sold like shit and wasn't watched by very many people.

Chihaya had me rollin' at the end of episode 12 lol. That was probably the funniest moment of the entire show.

Likely cos the first half or so was just so slow and dull. Made me drop it around ep 9.
I picked it up and finished it later but I still think Psycho-Pass was a lot better.

So basically, through Ryuko's uniform (and that scene with Mako right before the last fight), Trigger not only found a way to incorporate fanservice, but make it relevant to the plot and themes of the show in a tasteful manner. Log horizon has a pretty nice first episode. So far the best this season along with Kill la Kill.
