I don't think you can quite compare their situation with School Days, it's closer to the completely harmless harems out there, lol. Except it's even more harmless...

Last I watch......Clannad was harem lvl is no where near School Days harem lvl

I don't think I've ever posted in this thread but I occasionally lurk around for a couple of pages and I happened to see the Code Geass discussion above, and I think there are a lot of people who just try to take that show way more seriously than they should.
I see people here watching and enjoying those generic moe moe "cute girls doing cute things" shows that air every season, but then they claim Code Geass is awful for having a bunch of plot holes and a generally pants on head retarded plot. But is that all there is to anime? Do you really watch cartoons for the amazing literary value they're well known to have? I don't think anyone will say they liked Geass because of the deep psychological themes, or the intricate plot, or the interesting and well developed characters. I personally enjoyed it because of stuff like the brilliant military tactics from the brilliant military mastermind that is Lelouch (such as baiting people onto a bridge and making it collapse, baiting people into a building and making it collapse, or baiting people onto a bridge and making a building collapse on top of it), all of the fabulous and the borderline homo, the pretty mechas, the jumbled mess it called plot (like going through the "sword of akasha" and into the "world of c", where he met his deceased mother and did something to God, thus choosing the future instead of the past), the ridiculous chess metaphors (complete with illegal chess moves), the "Haha, I just predicted every word you would have said in a 20 minute long conversation and prepared a video of me replying perfectly with 100% exact timing to fool you. For the second time!", the "who is this guy, hasn't he died twice alrea--LOYALTY!!", the completely bullshit cliffhangers every other episode, the YAMATO DAMASHII NIHON BANZAI, etc, etc. It doesn't deserve any awards, not is it revolutionary (or even good, in terms of "objective" quality), but I found it really fucking enjoyable to watch. Sure, it was a trainwreck, but as any self respecting trainwreck, it's bloody entertaining to watch. It's definitely no masterpiece (in fact, I'd love to try whatever the guy who said that has been smoking recently), but I found it a hell of a lot more entertaining and enjoyable than anything in these last couple of seasons.

Please don't group us with Blasterion.
Most people who shit on code geass do NOT in fact enjoy generic moe moe shows.
We hate them.

I though Code Geass was pretty good and I am one of the few that defends code geass in this thread. The beginning was awesome and the ending was great too but how they got the that ending with the last 10-15 episode is kinda meh. Overall still pretty good.
I personally have a deep hatred for K-On and Shana because I think they dont deserve the recognition they have at all because they are poop but that just me.

I guess there is just something enthralling about a group of girls mucking about doing absolutely nothing.

Hurray, someone else who loves it the way I do :D. ALL HAIL LELOUCH. The parts like with the timed video, I found, were epic. Yes, I was like... uh really? But I mean, Lelouch is supposed to be a genius, so I can get past that. After all he's doing it to his brother, perhaps his brother always talks in a certain way or such. Anyways, it's just awesome to see the result. Maybe Lelouch even had a back up plan if the timing was too off. For example in 2nd time he did it, he was already on his ship. Maybe his brother didn't have a gun anyways, etc. etc. I guess my point is that they only show what is necessary. For those who have a hard time believing it, you can think up other ideas next time to try to not have it bother you as much. It works for me at least.

Well it is a masterpiece, relatively. How many anime can you name that are better than Code Geass in its genre, or what it does? (Extremely stylistic anime hitting a bunch of audiences with a unique ending).
He means it is a trainwreck objectively, but he still liked it. Self respecting trainwreck -- he probably means that it was obvious the writer knew that he wasn't explaining certain parts correctly or leaving plot holes, due to the bombastic nature of the show and of Lelouch. So if you can think of it that way, you can enjoy the epicness of it.

Notice that I never said Geass was good, just enjoyable. In fact, I said I had a hard time calling it "good" at all. That was pretty much the whole point.
Also, I was joking when I said "self respecting trainwreck", as trainwrecks cannot feel respect. The rest of my post didn't have a very serious tone either, you know. (I was also joking when I said that making the ground collapse is a brilliant military tactic, in case that one went over your head)

I was going to start defending CG, but then other people did, so I decided not too...
Code Geass #1! Glad that other people like CG too!

I think the main thing that disappoints me of people not liking Code Geass as much as me is not that they don't like it, but that they seem SO surprised that people like me like it so much. The majority of its viewers thought it was a master piece, or close to it. Just check its ratings on anime sites, it has one of the highest ratings in all 3500+ or so notable anime works out there.
So really, the people who don't think it's good or didn't like it much are in the minority.

I really liked Code Geass, but it does have it's flaws (mainly second half of season 2, I really liked the ending but the way they got there went by too fast with too much going on), and not everyone enjoys the "ridiculously genius main character", or mecha.
I do however, so that I liked Code Geass was certainly not weird...

Code Geasses just needed some more Kallen fan service and it would be considered a master piece imo

Masterpiece (or chef d'œuvre) in modern usage refers to a creation that has been given much critical praise, especially one that is considered the greatest work of a person's career or to a work of outstanding creativity, skill or workmanship.

The reason CG R2 is rated so high on MAL and lots of other anime sites is because /a/ thought it would be funny to do that.
And there's definately not 3500+ notable anime.

Anyway, I can't really give much to the discussion, having not seen CG through, but I can almost guarantee you there are worse shows out there as it is. There's no such thing as a "perfect show", period, but they can have their strengths and weaknesses.
